steveoafc
Just been reading that penney says that exeter is not neccessarily a must win game, I hope he hasn't been telling the players this! I think this is half the problem. We need a winning mentality instilling into the players. No disrespect but in days gone by we would be looking to crush a side like these. We need to send a team out to WIN the game, not one to not get beat!

garcon
In truth, describing any game before Christmas as "must win" is feintly ridiculous. However, we need to turn our form around and the next few matches against bottom half opposition is the ideal opportunity to do so. If we don't and go into January in the bottom four, then we need to worry about a relegation scrap. Aside from that, it never ceases to amaze me how often football fans seem to be so, erm, simple that they honestly think what a manager says to the media is the same as what he says to his players in the dressing room and on the training pitch. Ernie For England
DP didn't actually say that its not a must win game, he just didn't say that it is. If you know what i mean
LaticsLee
we should be beating teams like exeter but this season under dave penny it seems like a very hard job ! SHEZY BACK !

Where did you read this Steve? It's from the fishal site...he says '' that's not to say exeter is must win'' Well in my eyes it bloody well should be! Jeez, we're beaten in too many games lately before we even enter the pitch! Let's be positive i say!

steveoafc
Beggars belief isn't it. A true trait of a successful manager It sends out the wrong message to fans and players alike, no wonder we can't attract any new supporters. We should be hearing rallying cries, it's almost as though he's preparing us for the next disappointment!
Butter
I just want to see an attacking performance going all out for the win, rather than a negative, low tempo, defensive borefest.
steveoafc
I just want to see an attacking performance going all out for the win, rather than a negative, low tempo, defensive borefest. Quite right, we just want to see some attacking intent. I know it was against ten men but the last 30 mins or so against colchester was probably one of the highlights of the season so far, the team was actually pushing forward and supporting each other. We need to send a team out to WIN the game, not one to not get beat! I have to say that from the moment his appointment was announced, I have not been impressed with the current incumbent of the hotseat at BP! Not sure of a precise reason why, but I just can't take to the guy and week on week, I become more convinced that my original instinct is correct. The fact this idiot has said this publicy on the official site is sheer stupidity. We should be going out to WIN every single game we play, but it seems that Penney The Prat would be ecstatic with a point and not to upset if we lost....at home....to Exeter City! And for that reason alone any lingering doubts as to his capabilities (win/lose or draw today notwithstanding), I think TTA should look to remove him as soon as possible.
