The Matchroom Stadium, Brisbane Road, Leyton, London, E10 5NF The stadium has seen a lot of redevelopment in recent years, with the construction of three new stands, financed largely from the proceeds of selling part of the Brisbane Road site to a property developer, with the corners filled with blocks of residential apartments, Away fans are housed in the South end of the East Stand. Disabled facilities: There is space in the stadium for 51 disabled spectators, each with a helper, spread between the East and West stands Directions: By Road: From the North: From the M25 take the M11 southbound carriageway for about 6 miles and take the right fork signposted for the North Circular. At the bottom of the flyover where the roads merge, move into the left-hand lane and turn left at the roundabout on to the A104. After about 1 mile at the next roundabout take the right exit - still the A104 (a landmark here is the quaintly-decorated Lamb's Cafe). Half a mile further on, turn left into Leyton Green Road (signposted to Leyton and Stratford), and left again into a short slip-road past the bus garage entrance and left into Leyton High Road, with the Leyton Leisure Lagoon opposite as you wait to make the turn. Continue until you see the floodlights. From the South/South East via Blackwall Tunnel: Out of tunnel, continue on A102 following signs to Stratford, Dalston. Remain on the A102/A106 for 4.2 miles, following signs for Leyton, passing new Spitalfields market and over a bridge. At the lights just after Car Superstore, turn left into Oliver Road. Parking: Street parking available in the area. The club also has a secure car park (charge £5) at Spitalfelds Market, located just off Ruckholt Road near the junction with Oliver Road, and only a 5 minute walk to the stadium. By Tube: The nearest London Underground station is Leyton (about a 1/4 of a mile away) which is on the Central Line. Come out of the station and turn right down Leyton High Road. Cross over the road to the other side and continue down it. You will come to Coronation Gardens on your left and the floodlights of the ground can be clearly seen behind them. Take the next left past the gardens into Buckingham Road for the ground. WARNING: There is no Central Line between Liverpool Road and Leytonstone. Train over that way will have to be the only way there for those heading from central London. There are rail replacement buses operating... I'm doing Euston to Blackhorse Rd. on the Victoria line and on to Leyton Midland on the Overground.....'bout 35 mins. And then just over half a mile walk. By Train: From Leyton Midland Road station turn left towards Leyton and continue down the High Road past Leyton County Cricket Ground until you reach Windsor Road and the stadium is in front of you. By Bus: Nos. 58, 69, 97 and 158 run along Oliver Road. Transport for London For travel news, details of how to get around and tickets, click on link: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ Where to drink: There is a supporters’ club at the stadium which admits visiting supporters at a cost of £1. It is located in the West Stand and is listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. However, it can get uncomfortably full of people. Otherwise the nearest pub to the ground is the Coach & Horses, very popular with Latics fans. To get there take a right out of Leyton underground station and walk down for about half-a-mile. It is on your left, within sight of the floodlights. It has Sports TV screen and children are welcome. The Three Blackbirds is a little further on, on the opposite side of the road. It is handy for those arriving by mainline train as it is next to the Midland Road mainline station. It is a huge pub with two bars, three pool tables, jukebox, sports TV screen, arcade games, large garden and a playground. Food is cheap and plentiful, of the steaks, chips and burgers variety. The Birkbeck Tavern, on Langthorne Road. is recommended for drinkers of real ale. As you exit Leyton tube turn left away from the ground. Follow the path for 20 yards and there is a gap in the railings with steps leading down to the road below. At the bottom of the steps turn left and follow Station Road as it straightens up parallel with the tube line (behind a row of houses), and at the end of the road follow it to the right as it joins up with Langthorne Road. You should have a high brick wall on the left hand side, behind which is a graveyard. The Birkbeck is on the left 200 yards down Langthorne Road and can be seen from a distance. keep_the_faith Posted March 9, 2011 Share Posted March 9, 2011 Can someone help me out the London underground always confuses me , i am staying in Loughton i know Leyton is on the same line but it is central so will this be replacement busses? Also i assume buying a train ticket will cover you if i need to use the replacement bus? Also can i buy a simple return ticket or do i need a travelcard/ zone pass thingy? You can either walk from here (probably 20 mins or so) or jump on the rail replacement bus for one stop to Leyton (5-10 min walk). Get yourself a travel card as tube singles / returns are pricey and usually more expensive than a travel card itself. Or, get yourself an Oyster Card for the weekend and put £10 credit on it. It's not great for pubs, not that it's especially dodgy but folks are better getting to the main scenes of action at Euston or the ground rather than looking for in-betweeners. To repeat what Mr 69 says, it makes sense to get an Oyster card - you can get one at Euston, a one off payment of three quid and then you put cash on, means you never pay more than the total of any journeys in one day and you don't have to :censored: about with queueing for tickets all the time each time you are down south. You can't be doing it right - I don't know per journey but it's over £4 per journey in zone 1 if you pay at the ticket office, about half that on Oyster, and as I say you can't pay more than the total for an all day travel card using Oyster. You might not have touched in and out on the machine at the atart and end of you the journey, in which case they do you. There is really no question taht it's the only sensible way to go if you are going to be in London now and again. From what i've been told and can see from the tube map, it's the tube from Euston on the Victoria Line up to Blackhorse Road station. It's then a change onto an overground train from Blackhorse Road to Leyton Midland Road (only two stops away). Then a ten minute walk to the ground. Reckoned to be roughly a 35 min journey, not too much more than the usual route. And to save time when you get down, you will need a zone 1-3 travel pass.
