  1. I half expected them to lay into the fans for the pitch invasion, so there's a tiny positive there that they realised that would be the worst thing to say right now.

The announcement that we will have the same budget is a death knell.  Having to build an entire new squad on the peanuts we are paying will see us in a relegation fight next season.

We're up against settled teams with bigger budgets and decent players and managers for that division.  A bargain basement squad with one half-striker is going straight down.

To be honest, I'd rather spare Shez the ignominy.  Let him ride off into the sunset in Spain.

Does anyone know or have an idea of the budget versus the likes of Wrexham, Notts County, Halifax, etc.?

Wrexham are miles above us budgetwise.  The likes of Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer, Ben Tozer are going to be on more than £800pw.  If they don't go up this season, the owners will splash the cash next season - no way we are competing with them financially.

Notts County signed Matt Palmer on a two year contract recently.  Again, hard to believe they are paying peanuts like we are, and they're averaging nearly 7,000 on their gate.

Halifax are only getting 2,000 even though they're having an excellent season, and don't have a big backer.  In an ideal world I expect we will have a bigger budget than them, but I'm not sure we'll spend it better than them.

    Well that was shit result.

Anyone above Barrow appear to be out of the mire but it is still possible to avoid the drop, with a fucking miracle** obviously. Injuries, suspensions, appalling penalties and some questionable decisions from referees and Sheridan have more or less sunk the ship.

I don't get it, the sudden collapse. Is that imbecile rocking the boat again from within or is it down to a lack of talent and Sheridan unable to get any more out of them? Three more home games on the trot, the crowd is dwindling again and very tough run-in. If Sheridan is working for free, you wouldn't blame him for just walking away but I don't see that happening.

**Stevenage docked points for sham Covid claims.

We won when we had an attacking threat

Now we don't, and we're losing

Our only attacking plan is hoping Keillor-Dunn smacks it in from 20m away

You can't play 95% of the season without a striker on the pitch and expect anything else

Shez defo not out, but poor from him again not going for broke last 15 mins. Could bring on Bam, Harry and Couto, but just doesn't roll the dice enough for me when things are clearly not working

What we need to bring on more than anything is a striker.  We haven't got one.

Vaughan and Bahamboula could put in another twenty through balls before the end of the match, but Hope will be twenty yards away from any of them.

We were 16th after 32 matches when he got the boot. We were absolutely nowhere near the playoffs or even looking like we could challenge.  Kewell's approach of course led to a lot more goals, but in the grand scheme of things it didn't have us in that much of a better place.

But as with most managerial discussions, it doesn't really matter. There are much bigger reasons for our position and until they change we're always going to be scratching around the bottom few positions in this league.

I agree that Kewell wasn't going to get us anywhere near the playoffs, but 16th is a lot better for our long term future than 24th.

Curle needs to throw a bit more caution to the wind, particularly against our fellow strugglers, if we are going to reach safety.
