They're a big enough club, smart ground and they'll be plenty of takers if the need arises
Championship within two seasons no problem at all.
.... which is exactly what they were telling themselves for the last twenty years whilst running up £173m of debt.
They are doing exactly the same again now that debt was written off (partially footed by the taxpayer).
They are not as big as their spending, and haven't been for years.

Evatt is continuing where he left off at Barrow but with a far better squad of player's, sticking by him when their fans were baying for his blood was a masterstroke.
You don't become bad overnight and they knew it.
With the amount of money they've thrown at their squad twice this season, anything less than promotion is failure.
Even David Dunn would take them up.

l call ignorant, half baked, attention seeking bullshit.
Hamer, Tarky, Emmerson, Edmndson all far better than average and didn't take 40 years to come through.
lf l could be arsed l'd remember loads more, but you don't actually mean it and proving you wrong has become repetetively tedious.
Anyone remember this lad?
Allegedly we got a wedge for him, though I'm doubtful it was as much as it says here:

There's been a few other youth products who went on to Premier League clubs for fees but then didn't make it.

The lack of reserve grade football means the gap between youth team and first team is too big. It’s a lot harder for the kids to break through without getting blooded against experienced pros in reserve games.
It doesn't help that a lot of the non-league clubs we'd usually loan them to aren't playing at the moment, either

Saw him as a junior and thought he was going to be a world beater.
No idea what they did to him at Bayern and Swansea.

Goalkeepers seem quite happy just waiting in the wings for an opportunity.
He moved to get first team football.
He then got a serious injury.

Pete Wild has just masterminded a great comeback win for Halifax at Torquay.

Just watching Tarky against Fulham
What a player he's turned out to be and some didn't think he could cut it at a higher level
Not sure even his biggest fans here would have expected him to make it all the way to the England team. Got to give him credit for the graft he's put in over the years, he's got better every season.
I'd have him start for England over Maguire.

He went to Rotherham after us and was then released. In a better world we would be able to compete with Rotherham- not saying we can in our current plight.
Think both Ripley and Iverson are at Preston now?
He was loaned to Rotherham for a season where he was their first choice.
Leicester then chose to step him up and loan him to a top flight team in Europe, until he got injured.
Until that recent injury, his trajectory is only upwards. He's not coming to teams down our way in the best future.
Not even inconceivable he could be on the bench for his parent club in the Champions League next season if he performs well for Preston

Chris Taylor's legs have gone but he would still pass 100 times better than Garrity and Keilor Dunce
Having players in the team who really care whether Oldham win each week is always a massive plus point. I think he'd be an upgrade overall.

He'll do ok at that level
Ross County fans think Iacovitti looks like a decent footballer, so Maouche will look like Pirlo in comparison.

Shame
For who?
I'd rather see Barrow stay up than Southend or the Stevenage unflushables, so glad he's gone.

Been watching Stevenage v Hull City. Tom Eaves played full game for Hull and I can see why he doesn't get much game time. Constantly offside and awful first touch. Scored from the spot in first half, but missed his pen in the shoot out. Cliff Byrne on Hull's management team.
Does he still win his penalties with his haircut?

I'm quite enjoying what he's doing to the fake "Latics".

At the level they'll be playing in the first couple of seasons, the three of them could still do a job in midfield

He's better than some of our current defenders, but that says more about our defence.

Getting sacked after 7 matches is bad, but getting dissed by our fans for his interior decoration must be a new low

Sold their training ground as well to Preston. The same one Wigan bought from Bolton when they went into admin.

The only reason they didn't go the way of Bury and Macclesfield is their connections to the FA
Most other clubs who try their recipe for success will end up defunct
You have to invest some money to get success, and we have historically spent too little, but there are limits. Bolton spend other people's money way beyond their size or stature.
Do you really think Bury fans think that last promotion out of League Two was worth extinction? That's not ambition, it's suicidal
