  1. Cheltenham made four signings yesterday including Nuttall. I am surprised he has gone up two leagues. As others have said he is languid and every time I saw him play since arriving he won very little in the air and hardly ever held up the ball like Fondop can. Kurt never has had a chance really so hope he does well at Ayr to revive his career. Both will likely be back at the end of the season anyway.
  2. If players go on loan and earn less do the club owning the player not make up the balance of contracted salary. If so we would still be saving money
  3. I am sure MM will continue to improve the team and we are in a much better place than we have been for a long time as regards league position. It will take time to get us moving a bit more up the table and we should end up in the play offs. What was disappointing yesterday was the style of play-continuously hoofing the ball up the field which their defence were mainly able to deal with. Woking were far better at passing the ball than we were. Why can we not play a better passing game? Our midfield hardly saw the ball yesterday, except in the sky, as a few have said, as it passed over their heads. Passing was marginally better in last 20 minutes but Woking dug in and dealt with us efficiently. Raglan was named man of the match but I thought Hobson was better overall as he made some runs upfield and passed the ball into the forwards. We need to play a better passing game than we currently witness. As regards the past I have been at many games when we were in L1 and L2 where we had crowds of less than 3,000. We are getting crowds bigger than some teams in L1. Let's look forward and be positive.
  4. Great team performance last night. The midfield were a different class with Conlon allowing Ludstrum more freedom to roam forward and Sheron keeps going regardless. I have always liked Fondop and he makes such a nuisance of himself. How can he be left out of the team? To think of all those matches DU played Nuttall before Fondop. We could already be in a different place. Fondop is so passionate about everything as well as tracking back to help the defence when needed. I laughed last night when Conlon was getting ready near the end to take his free kick and Fondop was hovering obviously wanting to take the free kick. He had to be moved away to join the attacking line. It will be interesting to see how MM uses Dallas now-possibly Fondop as an impact sub, but he also deserves a start in some ways. Looking forward to Saturday now.
  5. Very good signings in Conlon and Dallas and very pleased with the reports on them. Onwards and upwards for a strong remainder of the season. And also a proper right back in Sai from Sheffield United and also Hammond in midfield strengthens the squad
  6. Pitch inspection at 11.00 in the morning at Eastleigh!!
  7. Has played well last two games and his he came across as very level headed in his interview
  8. Cannot complain about another away win and being in the play offs but as many have said the second half performance was very poor. We played hoof ball for most that second half. Good to see Fondop getting game time again and he always helps out defensively. I had hoped that Ward would have been given some game time today after his good second half last week as a sub. Mellon will slowly changing things as the weeks go on and as others have said he is getting results with this squad.
  9. Fully agree about the throw in points. On Saturday in the first half Stones was asking for throws to be played to him to his feet but this did not happen. Yes we do appear to lose possession from many throw ins which puts us on the back foot over and over again.
  10. I liked MM post match interview-honest and realistic. He also spoke of having a team that plays with flair and gusto. Still a way to go on that though. However MM is getting results with a group of players who lack flair and ability to put a good passing sequence together. Hartlepool, as poor as they are, passed the ball much better than us especially in the first half. We are too slow to take the initiative with delays in getting the ball forward. I could see the frustration on Stones face a number of times when he was asking for the ball to be played to him. Also Hudson needs to play the ball out quicker. There was one time in the second half where Norwood was waving his hands for the ball to be kicked up to him but Hudson held the ball far too long. Sutton did well yesterday I thought. Also Ward did well when he came on. We are in good position going into 2024 and with a few squad changes we should be able to get into top 7 but the top 3 is probably is now too much to ask. Great to have the home win but the quality overall was poor
  11. 1-0 up after 12 minutes and thought her we go. But Mickleover played a great passing game and we we were lucky to be level at full time. Won on penalties but Mickleover will feel thy should have won this. As others have said we seem devoid of ideas once we move up the pitch and looking ahead at holiday time games we will have our work cut out to get points to get nearer the play offs. MM certainly has work to do with this squad
  12. Kidderminster leading Ebsfleet 2-0. We conceded 4 against Ebsfleet!!!!!
  13. So disappointing yesterday after two great away results. Like Jekyll and Hyde. Someone pointed out our average age as a squad in other posts as over 28. Perhaps a few younger legs in the team might produce some more creativity especially in midfield where we still lack someone to run at the opposition. Lundstram does that to a degree but we need a bit more youth in the tam. Most of teams like Ebsfleet have much younger teams and seem more likely to take risks than we do.
  14. Fantastic away win and great to see Fondop playing two full matchhes and no card in either game. Always rated him as an impact sub but proving me wrong
  15. Did not see the game but all the comments look very positive. Surprised Fondop played the full game. Interesting comment earlier about how Hobson will fit back in-he has been one of our best players this season. Good problem to have.
  16. Fondop needs bringing on for longer periods in second half as he really does unsettle defenders. I thought second half performance was better yesterday and MM changed the shape which worked well
  17. Hoping for a win but since our three wins in a row under ST when have we really dominated a game? Recent results we have only been drawing or losing to teams below us with the exception of Rochdale and a draw against Alty.
  18. Played reasonably well today but lacking a ball carrier in midfield. I thought Hope was good today and "hope" he says in the team. Norwood reads the game well but others around him are not on his wavelength. I am sure Mellon will be working hard to get things better
  19. Agree with Yarddog that Fondop is a far better option than Nuttall. Fondop is always in the face of defenders and can bully them when needed. I feel he is a good impact sub to support other strikers.
  20. Norwood is certainly our best player. I have been to most matches and he is always looking to get the ball to his feet. He needs a consistent partner and as others have said Reid is probably the one with Fondop used as an impact sub. Nuttall should be left go and we then have Willoughby as a young striker who can learn from Norwood and be used when required. Midfield need to be pressing more to get the ball to him and not passing sideways and backwards. I am very hopeful that Mellon will be working on this especially after the disaster on Tuesday
  21. Southend 2 up and only two points behind us and they had 10 points deducted
  22. Yes Summerdeep you did write about this being a banana skin. So far you are correct unless there is some character shown by us
  23. National streaming site is not accepting my payment despite using same card as always. I have e-mailed them and waiting for a reply. Anyone else having similar problems
