How do some of those clubs pay the wage bill on the gates they get?

Aston Villa results out this morning-some eye watering numbers in there!

790 employees! What do they all do?

As for De Gea wanting £400 pw. isn't Ramsey rumoured to be moving to Juventus for £600k a week. It is ridiculous and many of these top clubs would be in serious trouble if the TV companies decided enough was enough, and offered much lower contracts to cover games. Unfortunately they won't because the lieks of Sky depend on football, not so much BT, and terestial TV companies can't compete and have more or less pulled out altogether. How long will it be before Amazon Prime starts bidding, pushing up wages even more?

I dont think we necessarily need a set of cloggers to get out of league 2 although that is one way of getting out of this league.

The best 2 teams Ive seen this season Bury and Lincoln both will go up automatically play very different styles of football.

Bury yes, but how big is their wage bill and how do they get around  SCMP rules? Lincoln were nothing but a spoiling team. They stop the opposition by any means possible, fall over to get fouls, cheat and are awful to watch. Very few sides in L2 try to play good football.

As for the Championships extravagance, they do get a large chunk of TV money, but they say it is nowhere near enough compared to the Premiership deal.

We missed him when we played with Sylla and Missilou, leaving Maouche on the bench.

I think him and Maouche are about equal- Maouche might shade it due to better positional sense. We need a squad if we are to do anything next year. We might struggle to find someone cheaper and he'll probably play in 75% of the games next season if he remains relatively injury free.

I certainly think he would have played yesterday if he'd been available.

We certainly wouldn't have been passing the ball as accurately. Maouche is a far better player than Gardner.

  4. OK Missile should have cleared the ball up the line rather than messing about, but there were quite a few passes after that which ultimately led to the corner. There were other corners which we defended, this was just another one which we failed to defend, so I can't blame Missile for the goal.

As for the playoffs we are a point closer now than we were before the game. Lots will happen over the next few weeks so I'm not writing this season of yet.

Jamie Stott back to Stockport on loan, but presumably we won't see him again?

PS says today that Stott has gone back to Stockport because it would be pointless for him to be sitting on the bench not playing. He says Stockport are going for promotion and he is very happy with the job they are doing with him. PS also says he will be an important player next season and he likes him (mind you he also says he likes Coke).

In reply to that, most of us live in the past because they were better times than all this mamby pamby bollox of today, no community, no respect and folk trying to out do one another for envy, without the actual money to do it with.

Yes the 1970s were tough but I'd go back to those times in a heartbeat and that includes the once very proud town of Oldham and it's football club

If I remember correctly Alan Hardy designed the current badge when someone decided a rebrand was needed. It wasn't.

A survey out the other day, revealed that Oldham is the 9th. worst place in the country to live. Could be worse Rochdale was the 3rd. worst. Peterborough being the worst.

Scholes update on players available for Saturday:

Two of those currently training are loan signings Alex Iacovitti and Oladapo Afolayan.

Scholes is monitoring both closely as he looks to get them both up to full speed before throwing them into the first team. “Alex (Iacovitti) has been training for a couple of weeks, since I've been here, and I want to see him in a game.

“It's been difficult because he's a left-back and we've got three or four of them, so it's about waiting for the right team to look at him.

“We've had some games behind closed doors which we have more of in the next couple of weeks, so if we can get him some minutes hopefully, he'll be ready

“Dapo (Oladapo Afolayan) has come in this morning, he's been out for a long time and only had two hours of football since. “He's going to need two or three weeks of really good training, he'll be in the squad for the next three or four games before we look at a start.”

Scholes was also unsure on the availability of Tom Hamer and Callum Lang who both missed Tuesday’s game through injury. “We're not sure on both of them really, Callum (Lang) is still sore and Tom (Hamer) is still a bit stiff, but hopefully they can both train tomorrow, but we'll wait and see.”

    🙏

PS also says Afolayan got injured in September and hasn't played since. He will probably be on the bench at Bury.

    I’m thinking 🤔

If Hamer is okay he will be straight back in for Hunt. Edmundson and Clarke in the centre. Iversen as Keeper obviously 🙄

If Lang Is not fit then Benteke will start.

Apart from that, Scholes will stick with Nepomuceno and Branger as the left sided pairing, Maouche and Missilou in the middle and Baxter further forward.

Only other debate for me is whether Dearnley keeps his place and how close Sylla is to starting.

We should be favourites to win this one. And the win would set us up nicely for Bury.

Hamer is not training yet according to PS he is still very sore. Lang will be assessed tomorrow.

    I would go wilth.

                                                                              Iversen

           Hunt                           Edmundson                                     Clarke                           Stott

        Branger                          Maouch                                         Missilou                       Nepo

                                                   Baxter                                          O'Grady

Really odd as we didn't have a game on it from 12 Jan and it has been one of the driest winters for years. When we played the other night against Yeovil it cut up badly as though it had been over watered.

It's the covers that ruin the pitch which must be left on all the time when it's frosty overnight. If they were taken off during the day I guess it may be a bit better, but it would be quite a bit of work for the grounds staff. It was worse last year because it was colder and he covers were on more.

It's not just the main pitch, the training pitches need replacing as well.

....it’s obvious. See my posts above. They (Brassbank) have effectively told us they want to sell the land. The Trust have placed an ACV - Asset of Community Value - order on the land. This gives us 6 months to find a buyer to keep Boundary Park a football ground - that could be starting now. That would take us to August.

If we can’t, they can sell it to who they want. eg Tesco, or Bovis. They won’t want to be our landlords. They’ll want a supermarket/houses on it. We’ll be homeless. Begging Dale or Bury to let us groundshare, like Charlton & Wimbledon at Selhurt Park in the 80s & 90s, or Brighton at the Withdean.

We need to pray for a miracle here.

I read it that the fans group contacted Brass Bank to purchase the land, not that they were looking to sell. I may be wrong.
