Seems fairly straightforward, at this stage it says there's an agreement for the fan led group to run the OEC including providing the club with hospitality under an as yet not completed commercial agreement. I'm guessing, and it is a pure guess, that any stand profits will be split between brassbank and the fan led group which they'll reinvest to finish the stand.

Probably suits Blitz and Gazal as they don't have to put any more money into it and it gives the fan led group a head start on making it fit for purpose whilst negotiating the remainder of the deal to purchase the rest of the assets.

So if that is the scenario it means that, indirectly, AL will be paying for the stand to be finished but still won't own it.

That's my reading and take on it.

I don't read it like that. It says the fan led group will take over the running of the stand on May 20th. Why share anything with Brassbank after that?  In effect Brassbank and OEC will have new owners. They have confirmed that the existing agreement for he club to take profits on match days, as they do now, will continue and are awaiting this deal to be done with the club.

I guess this will mean that Blitz and Gazal will have no further involvement in Oldham, unless they have assets in other parts of the town.

  2. When AL says structure and stabalise he means the club has to run on it's own income without him having to put his hand in his pocket. The only income the club gets is from advertising, lottery, match days, EFL and TV. So basically a Conference North Club, which would mean even less from all income streams!!!

This was a rumour that was untrue. Contract talks Monday/Tuesday this week.

The Lemys will decide this without PW, by getting rid of the highest paid contracts, unless the player agrees to reduced terms. I would think Maouch would want to leave anyway.

  4. The only thing they have to do is not lose at Exeter.

I think staying down there if they get a result at Exeter would be a good idea. Ask LJ to do us a favour and let us train at Bristol City's facilities.

Bet365 are paying 8/1 for us to finish in top 7 I don't know if those are the best odds or not.

If we did manage to get their it  could possibly be 2 legs against Bury. Now that would be tasty.

And all that alleged interfering if it is still supposed to be happening has just produced 3 wins on the bounce under a different manager-I use the term manager loosely in the case of Mr Scholes.

When asked PW said it was because he knew the players and what they could and couldn't do. Whereas PS didn't and was starting from scratch. If so, he could have asked PW what he thought of the players and taken advice.

I was there standing on the open terrace, half of which had been sold off to build a Superstore. Latics fans were crammed in and I remember spending most of the game standing in the walkway with my view partially obscured by a floodlight stanchion.

We were under a lot of pressure as I recall but The Bear came good. A great Away Day.

We were stood under cover on the side next to the open end weren't we? Unless I am forgetting we had the open end as well. I know we were crammed in like sardines.

Bury case adjourned until May 15, so they will finish the regular season at least.

Sounds like the can has just been kicked a bit further down the road though. Other creditors joined the WUP and HMRC has taken over as lead petitioner, demanding £277k.  They plan to pay from  EFL money  and season ticket sales apparently. But I wonder how they'll get through the summer if they use that money up to pay creditors?

Woudn't they get docked 20 poins if they go into admin. in the summer almost guaranteeing relegation?

Impossible to say without trying it but let's consider this scenario.

The Trust decided to go "independent" after their frustrating experiences with Mr Corney. A new owner was coming in, so here was the chance for a clean break. It was great news that the new owner was willing to hand back the Trust's initial investment of £200,000 (or thereabouts from what has been said on here) in return for their 3% shareholding (and I`ve no idea what the true valuation was at the time of the takeover - I suspect we've all got an idea what the £200,000 might be worth presently!).

So, a phoenix Trust is born, independent of a new owner (who, as it happens in time, the Trust find as frustrating as the previous owner). In a time of crisis (whatever you personally view that to be) then this independent entity is the single and obvious place to turn to for solidarity as fans and its membership grows very quickly. What's more, it's wisely invested its £200,000 and a safeguarded bond type scheme is devised whereby concerned fans can add to the "war chest" per chance anything dire should happen to their club in the future. If happy days are ahead, then the new Trust, via its members, can decide best how to use any funds (e.g. playershare type stuff, facilities for fans at the ground, fan events on match days, away days with Latics etc.).

It would be a Trust of excellence, with Oldham Athletic fans at its heart and, as such, supporters would have no need to look elsewhere - there would be no fragmenting of our support in times of need/crisis because no splinter group could come anywhere near matching it.

So, gone would be the days when you're constantly told "we've got a 3% shareholding and a seat on the board you know" and you scratch your head and say to yourself "yes but what use is it in reality?". Gone are the doubts you have that people may get too close to the club's inner workings/people and then "jump ship" from the Trust to go and join the board of the very club/company they are supposed to be holding to account on behalf of the fans!

Like I say, League one - we'll never know because it will probably not now happen. Incidentally, the independent idea is what I discussed at length with the Trust Chairman and a director a couple of years ago during the Corney turmoil. I was looking to set up an independent supporters' group under a Fans' Charter. After meeting the said members of the Trust, I decided not to do so because I had the club at heart and didn't want to fragment the support any further.

I really do wish I had pressed ahead, or at least joined the Trust to influence it from within, as my honest view is that independence, together with a reasonable start to a financial war chest by having sold the 3% shares to the new owner would have seen us in a much better position than the one we now find ourselves in.

Even if his £200k was correct wouldn't it all be lost if AL walked and the club put into admin? That's what has happened to the shareholders of Debenhams. Mike Ashley is spitting feathers at having lost £150m. when he has desperately been trying to take over the company.
