That season ticket number is embarrassingly high. That being said, the whole place is going to be toxic if we have a shite pre-season, never mind bottle the first month.

How many are for kids though? It would be interesting to know how many full priced season tickets have been sold.

I'm amazed there are any left to sack.

Unless of course LB or BB have already been forced to walk the plank.

There's other coaching staff can be heard on the video as well as the goal keeping coach, LB and his mate. Anyone know who they are?

  3. I forget where I was flying back from, but we were just coming in to land, (at Gatwck I think)and all of a sudden the engines powered up again and we started a steep climb. The pilot came on the tannoy as calm as you like, and said that despite being cleared to land, he had seen another plane on the runway and aborted the landing to go around again. It was in the days when smokers were sat at the rear of the plane, and it was only the rear of the plane where the applause came from when we eventually landed.

That’s what I am asking you to do - show that proof.

Didn't Tommy Wright tell a Plymouth fan, (who was praising the fact that Wright took time to  talk to him) when we played down their, that one of our players was on 12kpw.

Not the written proof you need, but why would he tell a random Plymouth fan that.

Did he mention we were signing Thierry Henry? Sure I heard it mentioned in the interview.

Would people have him here, he's a bit old but surely at 41 he still has that touch of class at this level. Can't see him stopping his punditry to come and play here though.

    No.

One of the press said that Henry has stated in the past that HB is the best coach he has worked with.

He may be a good coach, but manager?

Very noticeable that VAR hasn't been used half as much in the quarter finals. Almost like they've realised that it was ruining games.

It was an absolute farce. Everything was being checked and slowing down the game. How can goals be celebrated, when we have to wait for a decision (not always correct) from some officials not at the game.

When I've watched Rugby on the box I would say that now 75% of trys are checked before being awarded. Referees no longer trust themselves to get it right.

And of those signings, who lived up to it (bearing in mind those were decent fees in the early 90s)? Milligan was good, Pointon okay (but scored at Wembley and versus Southampton so deserves love for that) and McCarthy had one decent season in the second tier. Not a great outlay though. Royle really was better with limited funds....

He was. McDonald was terrible and we were extremely lucky to get £450k (I think) for him. Was it Aberdeen he went to?

Would have been decent if the interviewer actually thought about what he was going to ask. Just watched it again, think Banide did well to even make sense of the questions.

That guy doing the interviews these days is hopeless, not a patch on Sam.

33.8 Home Grown Players. Each Club shall be required to nominate a minimum of seven Home Grown Players on their Team Sheet of Players for all League Competition Matches (including Play Off Matches).

33.9 ‘Home Grown Player’ shall mean a Player who irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with:-

    33.9.1 his current Club; and/or

33.9.2 a Club and/or any other football club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales, for a period, continuous or not of three Seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the Season during which he turns 21). For the purposes of this definition of Home Grown Player only, a Season will be deemed to commence on the date on which the Summer Transfer Window in that Season closes (including the Extended Period) and expire on the date of the final League Match of the Season.

That excludes all the current foreign players we have then, let alone new signings. That would blow AL's plans out of the window.

  10. I think McVitie was nearly as good. He could somehow cross the ball whilst running at full speed. No idea how he managed to get his foot around the ball without falling over himself. I guess Groves had more skill in being able to beat a player, and was much more of a showman who could entertain the crowd. Oh for the entertainment we got from that team, we will never see that again the way the game has gone.  We used to really look forward to the next game with enthusiasm, but these days I don't always remember which team we play next, and I'm not all that bothered either.

  11. Iacovitti  was poor when he played CB but he's ok at LB although he doesn't get forward enough. Zeus would be ok in goal, but again I expect a loanee, possibly the lad from West Brom, or he may be available to sign.

For me we need a GK, 2 at CB, 2 or 3 creative players in MF and 3 or 4 strikers. That is virtually a new team.

These French players all need time to adjust and we may struggle if as many as predicted are signed.

It will help if he ever steps foot in Oldham first...

When he does arrive and takes a look at the training facilities and wonders what he has done. Then gets told by someone that  come January, they are practically unusable and the pitch is so uneven that passing the ball is a lottery, he may well turn around and go back to wherever he lives without even talking to the players. (you never know it could happen, as everything else happens at OAFC these days)

So Marco, what is it that first attracted you to the French, arabic speaking, not working for another3 weeks,  cheap option Laurent Banide?

I doubt he will be all that cheap, persuading him to work at ISZ having worked in Qatar.
