  1. probably a bit late cos' it took me ages to type lol

*no specifics about Hughes contract, but says its in lee's hands. he doesn’t think he’ll do the club over (ala porter) and if a club offered lower than the 400k, and lee said he wanted to leave, then they would have to seriously consider it!

*enquires for Taylor at lower amounts than the club see his value, so they were told where to go!

    * times are harder than fans believe, many clubs will be forced into cut backs next season (including us)

    * no enquires at all for eardley and the figures being talked about are rubbish (sounded like he didn’t think eardley was worth anywhere near a million)

*no offers for Davies yet (there was last season) and he wouldn’t sell to a rival anyway, he wants to see him do well at latics. Stockport wanted to keep him, but have no money!

    * Stockport are going to have to sell a couple of players due to finances

    * Hughes will miss some games this season (due to bookings) and then could walk for free at end of season, so from the clubs point of view its probably a good idea to sell, but he wants Hughes to stay (hence the contract offer) but at the same time, you have to think of the club.

    * he felt we got battered at Huddersfield and it was a good point, and them and Leeds could both take a play off place by the end of the season

  2. Yeah they have been letting home fans sit in the usual away end (dont know what segregation they have in place) with 600 tickets being made available for them. So far against Yeovil (113 away fans) and Leyton Orient (129 away fans), with Walsall and Hereford to come. I hope to god there not planning on doing this against us, as its going to turn into more trouble than its worth!

Maybe its just a case of, see how you do flogging that batch of tickets, and come back to us if you need more?? (but then again why not just give us the full lot in the 1st place)

  3. One incorrect argument that keeps going around and around is how congestion wont reduce....

Can someone explain to me how many people driving into Manchester can find a extra £100 a month to carry on doing it ?

From where I am sat that's going to impact a lot of people....

I do actually feel sorry for the SMALL amount of people who have no efficient way of travelling around... But if the LARGE amount of people who do actually have a reasonable alternative actually used that option instead of being selfish there would be no need for this charge...

This bed is of peoples own making I feel :)

Ok, so congestion does reduce as the LARGE amount of people who do have a reasonable alternative, can’t afford to pay the £100 a month.

how do they make the massive repayment to cover the debt, interest and running costs, if a LARGE amount of people are no longer driving through the zones???

EDIT: you already gave me an answer, i was too slow lol

  4. The roads themselves are outside the charging zone but you would imagine a reasonable amount of the cars using them roads may well be heading into the city so you could get a knock on effect if people stop driving into the city....

Sorry to keep going round in circles, but isnt this the very thing the council/government/TIF DONT want to happen?? Otherwise how else would this huge amount of debt be paid off. Im still yet to gain an answer to this?

  5. The Chron ran the story about Hiughes' release clause yesterday. Have a look at the following comment posted on its website in response:

Its winter sale time again at Latics, no one has put a bid in yet, but latics just happen to mention hes yours for 400k is it me?, Lee owes Latics nothing, they saw nothing but a cheap solution as they flout his name now for a fast buck! despite the other comment he would have found another club.

As to Chris Taylor well hes been a loyal servant to the club, and if he is to further his career he should leave the club, I for one am sick of moaning directors and the usual season garage sale, they knew the situation when they took the club on, and have done nothing i can see to entice the fans back like 1 decent signing!!! you get out what you put in and in Oldhams case thats nothing.

It could be a wind up but even if it is what kind of sicko wants to do down the club and TTA like that?

I was going to reply with something like...'they make you laugh don’t they, people that think like that'.... but they don’t, it’s actually sad that people have that opinion. There’s only so many times I’d be able to take comments like that with a pinch of salt if i were the TTA after everything they have done for our club!

  6. Ive read every page of this discussion and I can summarise the NO vote as follows:
    • It wont lower congestion (even though its going to cost people about £100+ a month on top of what they already pay - the mind boggles how people think it wont have a impact lol)

Again, as has been mentioned numerous times, if THIS was the real reason c-charge was being brought in, in the first place, then it would be flawed from the start. Councils NEED people to continue to drive as normal to pay for the huge loans and interest to ''improve'' public transport. It’s NOT being brought in to ease congestion!

  7. So far every solution to that problem in this country has to been to charge people more for doing things they know it is impractical for them to stop doing. Make it more expensive to fly, make it more expensive to drive so on and so forth.

But the people intorducing these charges know full well that most of the people doing those things are going to have to carry on doing them if they want to lead anything resembling a normal life and as far as they are concerned that's the beauty of it because it's just a source of revenue to them and nothing more than that so more people that keep doing it the better.

Imagine the fat-cats faces if everybody did stop driving to and from Manchester, they'd crap themselves! I wonder what would happen then, how would they repay all that debt used to improve public transport?

bang up the prices of bus, train and tram fairs is what they'd do!!

  8. Cheers for that...

I can imagine that route would get hit quite heavily if the charge came in....

its a main bus route, goes right through to bury so there’s no doubt passenger levels will increase, its just by how much, if i got on that bus at say 11.00am from my house it would be virtually empty till near the city centre. They should spend the money on more shuttle busses in the charging zones rather than more bus routes where it’s not needed.

That website is misleading cos its done in areas, so when you click on the bury one, it tells you that there going to improve some of the same bus routes that the Rochdale (and other areas no doubt) are going to improve. Implying that they are making 2 separate improvements, when really its only one!

  9. Post the link... I cant find where it says that in the plan...

Any planning will be based on the fact more people will need other options than they currently have bear in mind...

the existing Langley – Middleton – Harpurhey - Manchester service to be increased in frequency to operate every 7/8 minutes, Monday to Saturday daytime, every 30 minutes in the evenings and every 20 minutes on Sundays and extended to operate across Manchester City Centre to the University, MRI, the new Children’s Hospital and Chorlton

  10. I get the part about people dont like standing up on trains and on a bus in rush hour or peak time (but why should motorists pay for that, when it needs doing anyway) but i dont know how many busses iv drove past/ been on that have bin half empty, outside these peak times. so say for example the bus route from my house to manchester that the TIF wants to increase to every 6-7 mins is already half empty when it runs at every 10-12 mins, so whats the point in increasing it?
