''you gotta say well done to Newell for bringing such a great signing.''
''Adds that bit of creation in midfield and as he's proved previously can score goals from midfield.''
''the creative midfield player we have been missing for a while ''
''Hopefully now the strikers can get some good balls.''
Who the hell do they think they have signed???

whats your team name?
is it the telegraph one?
-
It looked to me as though if everyone had sat huddled together, instead of spreading out, the RREnders would have filled the 'T' and 'I' sections.
I think you were right Diego, it was 2 to a seat in some places in the 'i' section last night. Some of the younger kids sat on each others knees.

GK- Crossley
RB- Eardley
CB- Hazell
CB- Gregan
LB - Lomax
RW- Taylor
DM- Maher
AM- Liddell
LW- Jones
CF- Davies
CF- Allesandra
Subs-
Fleming
Allott
Whitakar
Hughes
Ormerod
Id play Liddle in the hole behind the forwards, so theres not the big gap between midfield and forwards, have Maher doing the Allott job. Pace and decent delivery on both wings with Taylor and Jones. Give Hughes a rest (tin hat at the ready) and have him as an impact sub if needed (like milwall game) Lewi will link up with Davies and bring him into the game hopefully allowing him to bag his much needed goal.
An if it all goes belly up, theres Hughes Ormerod and Whitaker to throw on.

O'Grady to Bury. SMS
Chris Casper was at the reserve game against mansfield taking notes and talking to shez, he works for bradford now i think, but could have been doing a scouting job for his old club!
-
Am I right in thinking we had that Hudson-Odoi (number 10, subbed after 30 mins) on trial for a few games last season? I would have thought he'd have wanted to make more of an impression than he did, after us knocking him back!
-
I recall the father of my West Ham supporting mate saying precisely that the first time they moved Rio Ferdinand in to defence.
It is feasible that moving somebody who is playing well can improve the team as a whole.
Incidentally since my original post I thought it'd be intersting to see if I could find anything online about what Wolves and Northampton fans thought was his better position and the tide of opinion certainly seemed to be that he is better on the wing. Almost everyone said he's great going forward but quite a lot questioned his defending.
In fairness I've not seen any real weaknesses in his defending thus far I just think his attacking skills would be better utilised further forward.
He had a great game today, but when defending, he sometimes followed the ball and almost ended up in the right CB position, leaving the left exposed, didn't get found out today against crap oppo, but will have to watch out next week!
-
In the hardy/corney interview on LW, corney said wolves already turned down around £300k for him, so that rules us out!
-
I will tell you something... Thompson had a great game in the reserves the other day. He was commited and agressive, and had his hands full with their number 9. I wonder what he has done to pee TTA off? Suerly someone would want him on loan to free up the wages???
yeah thompson did well, i also liked the look of the other lad at CB (dawson, i think) he did really well.
-
I thought O'Grady did well for the reserves today, linked up well with wolfy in the 'big man, little man' combo. Held the ball up well and won nearly everything in the air, with some neat flick-ons for wolfy to run onto

thinking i might be starting to work this gregan thing out now
-
I agree, stam may have been good in his early days, but recently iv just not felt confident having him in the side, heart attack moments every game from him. It may be down to bad injuries, but how many injuries can we afford to pay his wages through?
And what is this gregan roumer that there’s been about 6 threads about over the last couple of days, I hope it’s nothing that could effect him/the club?
-
According to the wolves fans on there forums, they were surprised he was offered, and signed a new deal before coming to us, but they reckon its just so they get a fee for him at the end of the season without going to a tribunal.
Northampton fans reckon he's class though, and may have premiership quality in him!

from a hudds board:
Pathetic
18 September 2008
And to say I thought our support has been pretty good this season. Just been down to get my Oldham ticket- rather late I know- and asked how many we've sold so far out of interest, expecting her to say at least 1000 seen as though they've just gone on general sale after all the other timing malarky they do, what do I get told?
"bout 650 so far luv"
I had to double check after picking my gob up, seriously, that it?! AND to say I was disapointed when we were only allocated 2700!! Please tell me a number of people are still to buy! Guarenteed if we were in the top 6 at this point they'd sell out quickly..
Its Fickle and Unloyal and is known as Part time supporters!
Are they really gonna bring more than the small bit of the RRE (1600?) Im gonna be annoyed if everyone has to move and they dont, especially after the atmosphere thats bin created in the RRE this season
how many they have brought in the league last few years:
2007/2008- 1095
2006/2007- 1254
2005/2006- 1131

My season ticket went in the wash last season, it was completely ruined. The only thing that was left of it was the plastic cover (with no picture or reference to what season the book was from) I took it down to the ticket office, and they pretty much just changed it for me with no questions asked!
I know its different to it being lost or stolen, because i had something to take down the the ticket office, but there was nothing to identify it to the season. I guess i was just lucky.

Wikipedia says he's on trial at Hull City, but the article posted above is word for word the same.
a wind up me thinks!
-
According to a Plymouth forum:
''Jean Paul Kalala from Oldham was on trial at the start of the week but he has been sent back as not good enough. The new we boy was very impressive and Luggy wants him signed before the Norwich game.''
So not off the wage bill yet, but explains why he wasn't at the reserve game against Blackburn.
-
Atmosphere was spot on however:
a ) The 'new' divide was pointless, as the MK Dons fans were sat half a mile away! and it caused more problems than it solved!
b ) All the chavs/muppet choir/ atmosphere starters/ stander uppers(what ever you want to call them) just shuffled along, further in to the RRE, and sat/stood in season ticket holders seats which caused a few heated debates close to kick off.
c ) The worst thing was, because there was persistent standing, further into the stand (where there isn't normally any) it caused a scuffle between a few people which ended up in a young lad getting a knock, and sitting in tears for the rest of the half, wanting to go home!
This isn't me having a dig, the standing doesn't bother me personally, I join in and have a sing along ect, but it's obviously bothering some, and I sympathise with them. It's not encouraging the young kids we need to attract for the future of our club, and something needs to be done. I know it's a touchy subject amongst some, and im probably going to get shot down for posting it but something's got to change, it's only going to get worse throughout the season.
**today i thought the stewards were out of order too, because you cant target, and throw out one person out of a group of about 50 fans that are stood up singing?
Maybe a meeting could be arranged between the club a few fans and a few stewards with some suggestions for the future?

He's allowed, he's the captain... isn’t he allowed to make more of a defence of it? If it was any other player on this pitch they may have got the booking for the protest.
thats my understanding of it anyway?

''dominating games is not enough for me''
what game was he watchin?

someone has just posted this on bbc 606... its probably a wind up:
Oldham Athletic
by premiershipis4girls (U13263455) 12 September 2008
I hope this isn't true but...
I have just looked on the OAFC website to find news that Lee Hughes is still 'unfit' for tomorrow's match. Now this really annoys me for the following reason - On Wednesday night I was sat in my local when a few friends started talking about a 7 a side match at the Reebok last night - one of them also started talking about how Hughesy (who I'm told they know well) was playing and coming out after as the gaffer is off on Friday. I really hope this is not true and am not sure if Sheridan is in fact off training today - but - if he is can someone tell him that it looks like he's being taken for a ride. I've lost all respect for Hughes if this turns out to be true.
-
Was hoping he may have had a chance of being named in the squad, but he's not in there oh well at least were not as bad as last season, and we have strikers to come in and prove their worth!

Finished 3-1 to Blackburn, with O'grady scoring for us
