  1. Well personally I don’t appreciate a player that like has been said above only seems to play for himself, yet still can’t produce anything.

Take away 2 goals at Blackburn and the guy has literally done nothing. Unless of course you want to count his horrendous shot that thankfully was so shit it bobbled through to Davies for him to tap in.

He said he was fast when he signed but to me he looks like he’s running in slutch because the ball is never under full control.

Hope he proves me wrong I really do but I don’t think he offers anything to the team.

  2. Anyone reckon it’d be worth a wage having a proper defence coach?

Looks like Paul Terry is doing it at the minute but wasn’t he a midfielder?

If we get Doyle back in on a permanent and make some good additions including Moimbe who I rate, we’ll have a good side but need to cut out the errors and look more organised at the back.

A proper defensive coach could be just the thing to get us more solid at the back and relieve a little pressure off the forwards to produce the goods.

We need some stability at the club. Replacing Wellens would not help and like you say we then start at square one all over again.

That’s true, we do need stability.

However, I don’t want to be stable but shite. If there’s a better manager out there then I want him.

  4. I’m not overly arsed if we keep him on or get rid as he’s not done anything different to our last 4 or 5 managers.

Like anything however, it’ll depend on who we replace him with. I don’t want some random foreign manager who’s never played or managed over here and doesn’t understand the league.

If AL is wanting to go down that route I’d much rather us keep RW but give him funds and a good playing surface.

If he’s getting rid then it’s got to be for someone who knows the league and has experience of getting a side out of it OR a big name ex pro that will gave the immediate respect of every player and has big contacts in the game.

Obviously others might have a different slant on it but that’s my two penneth.

  5. To be totally honest - and I’ve been the lads’ biggest fan this season - Fane needs bringing out of the side for tomorrow. If not definitely on Monday.

Byrne is a genius at times with the ball and seems to have great vision. We have a striker in Doyle who has probably the best movement and finishing in the division.

It’s criminal that this is being wasted by Byrne being played wide and/or dropping so deep to get the ball because Fane’s footballing ability only allows him to play a 2 or 3 yard pass.

I’d say get Pringle in midfield with Gardner but I think he’s been quite poor since signing. Possibly worth a punt with Mouche who seems a defensive minded midfielder who can also pass the football properly which naturally allows Byrne to stay further up the field.

Thankfully I’m not the manager and it’s not on my shoulders but it is getting a bit tedious seeing the same players every game when we have more than capable players in the squad.

Can play where he wants for me, a joy to watch.

Not been a ‘joy to watch’ for a good few months in my opinion.

I want that swagger back that he showed so often early on in his loan. Always willing to have a dig from long range and played some glorious balls.

Hopefully we’ll see the best of him again on a newly laid carpet next season.

Blaming Byrne is absurd. The blame lies with the rest of the players in failiing to get the ball to him in advanced positions.

He does tend to drop well back of his own accord though, knowing his best mate Kean Bryan will always pass him the ball.

Just needs Wellens to tell him and get the other centre mids pulling their weight and it’ll be reet.

And it was never a penalty!!

It was according to our fantastic United fan groundsman. Seemed like he couldn’t wait for something like that to happen to Tarky.

Probably hates us after getting a bit of stick for our embarrassing pitch.

When I was ten I'd have been ecstatic at the opportunity to meet the players. Alan Groves, Ian Wood, David Shaw ......

Maybe if some of my schoolmates had been to such an event they'd have got the Latics bug and spent the last 45 years supporting the club.

I think A.L. is making great  efforts to attract youngsters to the club (see the season ticket offer) that don't deserve this sort of derision.

Think you’ve taken my post the wrong way.

I too think it’s a great idea for the kids and in no way am I mocking kids for going because as far as I’m aware there’s no young kids posting on here? (Correct me if I’m wrong please).

Big Dog was suggested to people in the thread go and meet the players instead of catching a game of football (just for you Monty) to which I simply said nah you’re alright.
