The last 10 is won 6, drawn 2, lost 2 which would have us 2nd. The way some people are wetting the bed on here you'd think we'd lost every game

That’s not the point and of course you know that.

What we are seeing is that our form is dropping off - that cannot be denied and it’s worrying.

Weird that a team that can't do the basics at this level would be 2nd in the form table...

    Form Table huh?

Let’s take a look at the last six games

    P6, Won 2, Drawn 2, Lost 2

    Points 8 - Form Table 13th

That’s bottom half of the table form I think…

The notion that we should expect Mellon to revolutionise a club and its identity in a matter of months, given it has been ran over 20 years or more by people who should be banned from being anywhere near football ownership, is incredibly unrealistic and those who think that  have set their expectations at such a level that they will be bitterly disappointed on a weekly basis...

…It is going to take time, people need to stop comparing fifth division football and what is possible to elite level football, and a sense of perspective needs to be added…

…The added extras in terms of style and approach can come when we're back in the FL and that will probably come after Mellon…

I think that you and many others are missing the point of the growing frustration.

We don’t expect Melon to ‘revolutionise a club and its identity in a matter of months’

We don’t compare ‘fifth division football and what is possible to elite level football’

All we are asking for is a team that can do the basics at this level  - you know stuff like ‘trap a ball’, ‘pass to a team mate’, play with energy, be first to second balls, not panic and boot the ball away at every opportunity, maybe play through the midfield and have more than three attempts on target in 90 minutes at home against a team in the bottom four.

    Ordinary stuff like that.

Just out of interest,  what do fans want. Would you prefer playing well and be 3rd from bottom or being inconsistent due to bad signings and early days into a new takeover and still punching in the playoffs.

I’d like to be playing well and safely ensconced in the playoff positions 👍

For the umpteenth time this season we were out fought, out thought, and generally footballed to death!

Another totally embarrassing performance in front of our home supporters from a woefully inadequate and massively under prepared team.

You cannot make any more excuses for this shambles of a side who don’t appear to have the faintest idea of how to play the game.

I don’t know the solution but Mellon and Brabin are clearly struggling here!

… balls just aimlessly hoofed or misplaced continuously - it was embarrassing and exasperating in equal measure and this highly paid coaching team need to get some answers out of this well paid bunch of players because it just isn't good enough.
…it's becoming a chore sitting through the same tripe on a matchday,

The same issues persist in the middle. We have Nathan Sheron in the middle. Lundstram looks petrified.Hammond not good enough. Conlon not fit enough.

We still have not sorted the right back situation.

They are absolutely petrified of the ball, which was shown yesterday by the midfield. We need players who want it and can look after it in tight areas. Can drive us forward and pick out a pass.

Until the midfield and the wide areas are sorted, we are a horrible team to watch, it’s that simple.

The above posts sum up how I feel about the playing side of the club at the moment.

I do not accept the lazy justification that some continue to trot out - namely that Melon has inherited bad players and we should judge him when he’s allowed to bring in his own footballers.

He has brought in six and how’s that going?

It is a collective responsibility I know but it’s down to Melon to change the absolute dross we are witnessing at home - quite simply I am sick of it 😮

    At home - I agree.

    Away - I disagree.

Unsy delivered the same shite home and away. Under Mellon, we are a very good side away from home and completely woeful at home.

Perhaps - though we have had a few poor away performances under Mellon:

Fylde, Newport plus a smash  ‘n’ grab victory at Dorking and two limited performances at Ebbsfleet and York.

We are bafflingly poor at home and it’s a collective failing that cannot continue 😮

    Sacking him is nonsense.

But where are people on Mellon?

Personally I’m a bit perplexed. His record speaks for itself. His PPG is still decent. But these horror shows are inexcusable, it’s not even that we are getting beat. It’s the complete lack of any type of performance from anyone.

    He is failing.

That performance today was another horror show.

Every single team that comes to BP are better coached, show more energy and work harder than we do.

The team look afraid to play - constantly getting rid of the ball and giving it away, Yet again basic skills and decision making seem to disappear when the opposition put us under any pressure.

The players have to take responsibility but so does the manager. His recruitment has been poor and his tactics and motivation are poor.

    He is failing.

If 3 of them go in then only having 8 attempts shouldn't matter. We played well at Maidenhead right?

We had eight attempts and scored three - so all good yes 👍

But not good at York though… if we’d had eight attempts who knows we may have scored more than one.

The point is that we do not have nearly enough shots in a game … oh for the halcyon days of Dickenson and Tollitt having shots from distance… 😉

Now… that Sheron bloke can hit the ball sweetly…

Don't for the love of god put in a low energy half hearted piss poor performance where we spend the game playing a few sideways balls with no movement ahead of us before someone launches it out for a goal kick as Kidderminster sit 10 men behind the ball and for us to lose to a set piece. Not tomorrow of all days.

High energy high tempo pass the ball quickly and lots of people making runs and when we lose the ball put the press on straight away to win it back. Their defence shouldn't get a moments peace.

And have a few more attempts on goal… only 8 at Maidenhead half that number at York 😮

The club deemed it as something strong enough to go to a final warning, and he then continues to post stupid things, then it really doesn't matter. He deserves to be bombed out.

If the club don't want to publicise what it was (nor should they if it's an internal matter) then I'm not going to do it for them, potentially causing unwanted issues.

Is that because you have no idea?

You don't know that's all that happened though. There may have been and probably are other factors that have led to him being treated differently to McGahey.

Melon’s response is bollox in my opinion.

Asked by The Oldham Times about Reid's absence, Latics boss Mellon said: "I have the group that I'm working with and I'll continue to do that.

    Bollox.

All that said I'm not really bothered if he plays for us again after what went on at Christmas, same goes for McGahey for that matter

Just seen the Oldham Times, looks like he has pretty much said he won't be back.

Fair play Micky, as you were lads.

It's been blown up out of all proportion for me - so he said 'What the Fuck are we doing here?' when asked to come in on Xmas day - hardly an earth shattering crime is it? He was disciplined but should be brought back in to the first team squad - Melon is overreacting in my opinion and its costing the team.

I knew Kitching would come back in, but why was it for Green ? And why the fuck did he play left mid ?

We had a centre back at left back, left back at left wing, centre back at right back, a centre mid at right wing. - puzzling.

Should have been for Sutton with Kitching and Green as the wing backs.

Hammond was extremely poor, as was Sheron.

Reid situation needs sorting, especially if Dallas and Norwood continue to be unavailable, laughable that a proven goalscorer is languishing in exile without explanation

Melon has brought in six players since he took over.

Three of them: Dallas, Walker & Sachdev were not even in the squad last night (the first two have hardly featured since joining).
A fourth player, Hammond, was hauled off after 52 minutes.

Garner played last night but seemed to spend most of the game either on his arse or embroiled in niggling altercations.

Conlon was average at best and doesn’t seem to trust his right foot…

Melons tactics, and the way he set up last night, were baffling. He also only used one of his three available substitutes - why? And there was no striker on the bench too - the Reid situation needs sorting.

The standard of football and style of play was desperate last night - horrible football.

Oh… and we still got a point 😮

Well that wasn’t very good was it? Honestly I just can’t believe how poor we are at playing football, we seem incapable of passing the ball at any kind of pace on the ground to our teammates. I guess it’s just this division and we are still capable of scraping 07th spot.

    12 minutes ago, LaticMark said:

A few weeks ago we had 7 strikers on the books, now we don't even have 1 on the bench!

Where are Dallas, Hope and Reid?

    Two good posts.

Although we worked hard, our play tonight was one dimensional and predictable. Too many had poor games - and for the majority of the game, our midfield was bypassed again by our insistence on lumping the ball forward aimlessly.

York were fairly basic too which meant a turgid and uninspiring game. We got a point which was about all we deserved.

I’m not sure why MM only made one change and, with injuries to Norwood, Walker and Dallas, I’m thinking it’s time that Reid was given a chance.

    Horrible game of football tonight.
