Whats the answer to that conundrum? Stick it out and hope form picks up again to scrape the playoffs or start the transition to better football now, appeasing the fans and new recruits but likely missing the playoffs because of it. Either way, I think we will see something easier on the eye come next season, after a full pre season and summer of recruitment.

If we transition to better football, why would we miss out on the playoffs? 🤔

Chesterfield are showing the match at their ground on Saturday which could negate the danger of away supporters in home areas.

    Just seen this…
Due to the earlier kick off time, the Chesterfield home fixture is available to stream on National League TV.

I never wanted him in the first place and said so at the time so my stance is pretty clear.

I don't think for one minute he will be.

I do have growing concerns about the people making the football related decisions.

    Wow - I actually am in agreement with a @deyres42 post 😳

    In the form table…

Over the last 4 games, Oldham (16th)

Over the last 10 games Oldham (14th)

There was a lot of debate on here about the validity of ‘Form Tables’ but the plain truth is that we have got progressively worse since the end of  January and, strangely, coinciding with Mellon being allowed to bring in his own players…😮

That’s worse in results and far worse in performance on the pitch.

There has been too much tinkering with the team by the manager and too many unfit or poor players joining the squad.

The players who do get out onto the pitch, are consistently letting us and themselves down.

Meanwhile certain players who may add to the squad (Hope and Reid, and possibly a certain youth player for example) are ignored or frozen out.

Mellon was ‘ thoroughly pissed off’ with our latest showing - and we can but hope that he does what he is paid to do and get the players to play.

    Tough ask Saturday 😳

    It's difficult I know but maybe 442 attacking;

Instructions, compete, pass, move, create, score goals.

    Hudson

    Sachdev

    Sutton

    Raglan or Hobson

    Kitching

    Atherton

    Gardner

    Conlon

    Walker

    Fondop

    Garner or Norwood.

How anyone can pick Sutton or Hobson at centre back over Hogan completely  baffles me 😮

Playing as a centre back he has been by far the best of our back three.

Shades of how it went with Piergianni  towards the end… I wonder how he’s doing now? 😉

And there’s nothing wrong with giving a view on a game that you’ve watched on TV as opposed to being in the ground.

    However…

if you are watching National League TV, then it’s a single camera feed that does not really give a full picture of the movement on the pitch - still valid but not as good as being at the game 👍

Pathetic turnout for a key game in the playoff chase.

I’m sorry but that’s just bollocks. That was a 460 mile round trip and we’ve got another away game at Halifax on Tuesday.

    Pathetic comment @Ritchierich

as @oafc1955 rightly points out, we have another away game on Tuesday so the majority will choose Halifax over Aldershot.

Why not applaud the dedication of the 408 who did turn up - especially the ones who came down from Oldham?

If, by some chance, we get these away in the playoffs (😳) we will take 1000+ and the atmosphere will be banging 👍

What I can’t understand is- what is Mellon actually telling them?

Surely he’s not saying - whenever you get it, no matter where you are on the pitch- just smack it aimlessly. And yet that’s what we watch.

Player analysis is largely redundant when every single one of them can’t pick a pass, or show any composure in possession and just smack it.

    Sides reflect their manager. . . .

Whatever he’s telling them sin’t working - it’s the lack of any energy, basic skills or football intelligence - once again we got the runaround from a team that played much better than us.
    Horror show 😮

Update on the tickets.  At a meeting with the club last night our liaison office confirmed  that both CFC and the police requested more tickets but Oldham refused and offered no "rationale" .

This seems a very bizarre decision and an unsafe one.

    'the police requested more tickets'?

I heard that the numbers were reduced due to the fact that Chesterfield fans have been talking about pitch invasions and the like - I would imagine that GMP will have advised the club against giving more tickets to the away club.

Either way, you will have enough fans in the ground to make a decent noise.

The biggest issue is that we haven’t been able to secure any decent loan players to really make the difference. Our ability to compete at higher levels was underpinned by some great loans over recent years. You know who. They have dried up, most likely because of where we are. The net effect is that we have a significantly poorer team taken as a whole.

A certain Josh Stones should have recovered from his ligament injury soon - let’s bring him back for the season’s last few games 😉

My impression is MM is so scared of losing home games he's happy with draws, which is why we saw McGahey sat in front of the back 3 and the wing backs deeper as the game wore on.

We need to be bold and  play attacking footbal to win home  games, not hoof it upfield only for the opposition to set up play again.

Ain’t gonna happen. We need to just suck it up.

  12. Halifax boss, Chris Millington, after their defeat to Bromley at the weekend:

"They got the ball forward quickly and go back to front quickly. Then they hit you with the physicality of their team. It is a successful system and today they did what they do better than what we do"

They did have defender Topalloj sent off for dissent, so he will be out tonight.
