It's very unlikely that I'll see another game this season for one reason or another. So looks like it I'll go through 23/24 without actually seeing us win.
That would be true of me. I left a few minutes early and I've done that three times since I first went in 1966. To be fair I had to stay to the end with my Dad in those early years.
Can't really imagine who would be there to see us beat Liverpool but decide not to bother going t see Everton in the next round. Oh well, ancient history. Tomorrow's more important now.
Sky Sports says attendance was 9,473. I recall at the time being rather surprised. V Liverpool, given as 10,295. V City , 2005 - 13.171. V Grimsby 2004, 13,007
I reckon that was bollocks. I believe he was on trial and we were interested but before we'd decided whether to make an offer he'd gone in trial to Willem II where his best mate was and he signed for them.
It highlights what I see as a scourge of modern football - stats. But more the interpretation of the stats rather than the stats themselves. I am sure lots of them are very useful for clubs and managers when they are analysed and put in the proper context but that level of analysis isn't available to the ordinary fan so the strong likelihood is that the stats will be misinterpreted - as Forshaw's goalscoring streak this time last year appears to have been.
I had a four hour drive last night back home and had the Liverpool/Luton game on the radio - which was fun until Liverpool steamrollered them. The commentary was more to do with the stats than the game. At one point I was regaled with the fact that Liverpool had won 59.21% of aerial duels, to which the only sensible response is 'So bloody what?'
What was the opinion of the youth team watchers of Kofi Moore? His brief foray into the first team squad was very brief indeed but presumably the staff thought he was the most promising of the group at the time?
