  1. It's gonna cost me about £65 to get down for this... all this talk of an early night worries me though - I'm not coming all this way for you southern softies to call it Horlicks time at half :censored:ing ten!!

Aye aye. How was the cruise?

Well, come along and see what happens. Surely thats the best way

  2. again, im no the brightest button when it comes to techno techno techno phone BUT do you know when you 'log' into your wireless router, and then from there you can change what channel your on, isn't this a cure for the problems of this overcrowding seat issue in my bob??

No. The overcrowding is caused by the seat your router is using on the BT network. The channel you change is the seat which you use on your router.

  3. i know, it's strange isn't it, I suppose it's the service you get shapes your opinion, it's like when 2 people go on holiday to the same place, one will love it, one will hate it, but hey, who's right, as long as your happy then that's all that matters.

I'll report back to you when something goes wrong and i can't get through to them

Without going all tecchy on you, it all depends on the area and how far you are from your exchange.

Areas in the UK with 20mb broadband use what is called fibre to the curb technology i.e. they are fibre optic to the little BT box at the end of your street/in your area and then copper wire from there to the home. Where broadband is slower, it is all copper wire. Copper wire reduces its effectiveness with higher users and therefore genuinely gets slower the further you are away from the box as people can highjack your line.

Therefore, if you are close to the box, it is worth going with high speed providers as you will genuinely notice a difference. If you are far away from the box, towards the end of the line, it doesnt really matter who you are with as you are likely to have poor connection anyway.

Finally, BT sell "seats" on the Openzone network. These seats are prioritised. It is my understanding that Talk Talk and Plus Net buy cheaper, low priority seats. Thus if there is someone going in on a Sky or O2 seat (more expensive, higher priority) they can override your connection as you get bumped down the priority list. In that sense, you really do get what you pay for.

  4. Cricket sounds so much better that football. Football whats that all about ???? Kicking a bladder between two sticks ..... just plain stupid.

Anyhow I have full cricket gear, stumps and all.... plus I won't be playing football, got a busted knee and its stupid.

I'm up for that - bit of fancy dress in full cricket gear.

[P.S. Let's just let Mark turn up in his whites. We'll just wear shorts and t shirts and stuff]

  5. There's quite a big gap between the cinema and the front row.

I'm with Zorro on this one - last tube home at the latest for me.

Well... last tube might be a bit extreme. We'll see.

Boxing coverage starts on Sky at 8pm and its in Hamburg so, unless the undercard lasts hours, it should be on around 9.30/10.

  6. You'll get neck ache that far forward.

Regent's park defo best for leering. I'll see you all by the tennis courts.

There's quite a big gap between the cinema and the front row.

  7. Regent's Park is massive. And there's usually plenty of posh totty if the weather is nice.

    Both comments very very true.

I'm actually going to the Zoo on Friday night so I'll have caught up with my close relatives...

  8. On a selfish note, I'm delighted we've signed him up. Due to the small number of games I'll get to see, I want to see players who have the potential to entertain me.

And when he has bagged a hat trick at Orient (on either the opening day or last day of next season) I'll forget all about our flimsy midfield with him in it (providing they dont get 4)

  9. She's not in this one. Had a falling out with Michael Bay. :(

    Bay Out!!

Do you think we will see Ackey on 2nd as previously planned? Jamie Oliver has organised some do on Clapham Common so that's out for the remainder of the day. We'll have to hit up some other park...

  10. There's still a few seats available, Al. We're in Premium...

    Get on it!

I didnt want to appear to much of a geek but that could be fun. Megane Fox in 3-D...

    So 2nd July it is?

  11. Great news.

Now play him behind the front 2!

Time to make myself really unpopular...

I like Morais as an individual, I think he can be exciting to watch. However, I'd like to see a comparison of team stats with him in it and without him. In a year when a lot on here think mid table will be an achievement, I worry he will be a luxury - someone who offers flair but at the expense of a solid midfield...

  12. here's how sky bet see our league finishing according to odds. Let's hope they are wrong

    1 huddersfield 11/2

    2 sheff wed 11/2

    3 preston 6/1

    4 sheff utd 6/1

    5 charlton 10/1

    6 scunthorpe 12/1

    7 mk 16/1

    8 bournmouthe 18/1

    9 orient 25/1

    10 chesterfield 25/1

    11 brentford 25/1

    12 carlisle 25/1

    13 col u 25/1

    14 exeter 33/1

    15 bury 33/1

    16 dale 33/1

    17 notts 33/1

    18 wycombe 40/1

    19 stevenage 40/1

    20 trannies 40/1

    21 walsall 50/1

    22 latics 50/1

    23 yeovil 66/1

    24 hartlepool 66/1

    sky bet odds

That's not really a fair representation is it? They're odds to win the league which are based on the probability of the team winning the league. That's completely different to the probability Oldham will finish 22nd, be relegated, finish mid table etc. Each will influence the other, but because we are 22nd favourites for the title doesnt necessarily mean that we are 3rd favourites for relegation (we may well be but this will conincidence between the two probabilities not the inverse of each other).

I'll stop geeking out now... statistically speaking.

  13. Right all

The dust has settled on another season. We've all watched Man U receive a new arsehole and the weather in London has taken a turn for the worse just in time for the annual glorious british failure at Wimbledon.

However, what this also means is we havent had a beer for a while. How are people fixed for a few beers on weekend of 2 or 9 July. We could even turn it into a park kickabout and BBQ on a common somewhere.

    Any thoughts?

  14. Ethnic differences, but a town where people co-exist.

A growing tide of political correctness in government and local government.

    Outside agitators from the Midlands.

A right wing 'politician' standing for Parliament.

Maybe a little simplistic, but I don't think the riots of 2001 had much more to them than that.

Naff all to do with religion.

Blaming it on religion is like saying "I don't have a job because the Polish have them". It's the classic mentality of blame. It's always someone else fault. Dare I suggest that the reason there are racial problems in Oldham is to do with the people of Oldham, those people who live in those communities who think everyone else who has it better than them. This problem will never fix itself. It will fix itself when white people, asian people, purple people and all get off their arses and do something about it. The longer people sit in pubs and say "we're badly off because they get all the help" the worse it will get.

  15. You're not far wrong. As he set himself to take it the ref stopped him and went and booked Danny Wilson. I was at a do a couple of days later and had a word with Redfearn asking him what had caused it. He said that as he had walked past Wilson he had said 'miss it you c**t!

Easily confused at a delirious 6 years old!!

Now I know that, I'm glad Danny Wilson got fired and Swindon got relegated the dirty y*rkshire tw*t...*

*I actually don't think this - he seems a nice enough chap

  16. Lookers paddock. Initially on my Dads shoulders. Eventually on the boards at the front (I think). Absolutely magical. I still wish I was a little bit older though.

I've always had a strange recollection that Neil Redfearn had to take his penalty twice either because of encroachment of the pitch invasion. I've never seen a tape to confirm this. I think I might have made it up to add to the tension.

  17.

It's a simple case of AV is better than FPTP.

That's a bold statement right there.

The way I see it is that AV, in so many ways, accentuates the problems with FPTP and delivers very few (a minute number) of benefits. Only 3% more deats will be contestable in the UK under AV. Wrong question, wrong time. Most of the country are NFI.

However, I will commend David Cameron on a great bit of politiking. He got a question most people will say no to. He's also managed to shift the blame of the cuts onto the Lib Dems. A professional politician that (much like Blair).

  18. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I have a spare train ticket. £21 o.n.o. Mark?

Is this your spare ticket or young Mr Roberts'?

Who is actually going this weekend? The attendance is Swindon is going much the same way as our season
