  1. He didn't get in the team much beforehand so when Brooker is fit he's got no chance really. Looks 90 percent likely we'll have Brooker permanently but I'd have liked to see Byfield alongside him and given a bit more chance. Equally we've said we need to send some out before we can sign others so maybe it isn't that surprising. As for the other poster who said SOD may be on his way, he'll be here even if we go down.
  2. Strange decision for me from SOD. But I would say that this pretty much seals the fact he'll be off somewhere permanently in January, if we aren't taking him back now, we never will.
  3. He said a few weeks back he wanted him back for the christmas period, whether he does or not I don't know. I would think he would with Brooker, Hayter and Coppinger all recently injured. Wouldn't surprise me if he came back for 2 weeks and is then let go of.
  4. If his loan's extended O Driscoll needs his head checking. We're struggling for a 16 at the moment so if his loan's extended I will be surprised.
  5. Kellysheroes is right, our strikers were crap in league 1 and even O Driscoll's slated them recently (I think Hayter can be let off as he's at least very creative even when he's not scoring). As I've said we can't afford Taylor and it's a myth that we want him so much as we are strong enough in his position. Also we aint down yet, we've clawed an 8pt gap in to 2pts recently and there's a long way to go yet.
  6. We've never spent alot on transfer fees, most teams in the Championship spend more on one player than we have done assembling a squad. If we had a striker we'd be alright but we don't. Guess we'll see on Hughes but I wouldn't put money on us going in for him. Good luck with your promotion push.
  7. Well Byfield simply didn't really do anything when he played bar miss. His miss against Sheff Utd open net from a few yards summed him up. He'll be back here soon O Driscoll's said we need him back at the end of his month (we lost Hayter for 2 months and now we've lost Brooker already both injured), so Byfield is going to be needed as we're struggling for strikers now. Brooker made a good start 1 sub appearance, 1 goal. Just a shame he went and got injured. We've been talking to them about signing him for a very small fee as he's out of contract so they won't get the full asking price. I guess the same could happen with Hughes as I'll be surprised if he's not offered a good deal in the summer to go on a free by somebody. By the laws of the game it shouldn't happen, but we all know it does.
  8. Just had a look through this thread. If we bid 400k for Lee Hughes I'll be very surprised, stranger things have happened but our record signing is 300k last summer. As for bidding for Chris Taylor it will not happen, we couldn't afford half the fee you want for him let alone bidding a million. Did make me chuckle that someone in the know says we have though. If we had a million we'd be spending it on other players than Chris Taylor ie a striker as we're very good in midfield as it is, it's up front we need players and if we do spend money (signals from the club that we won't spend too much) it's gonna be on a striker. 400k for a 32 year old? It would surprise me.
  9. Crazy decision by SOD in my opinion. Unfair to say he isn't good enough after only giving him 3 starts. He looked alright aswell, yes he missed a few chances and a sitter against Sheff Utd but it seems crazy to get rid of him. I've hardly seen him play so I can't tell you much about him. Certainly seems like a fall out with the manager.
  10. My mate's been to a supporters meeting Q&A with SOD tonight and he told me this. Just passing on the message. Byfield COULD be off out on loan next week - when he first joined he wanted to stay in the Championship, even though he understood he might not play every week. Now though, he's changed and wants to play every week, so could be going out on loan. Oldham were interested (as was speculated) and they were one of three or four clubs, but they wanted to do a player swap deal, which Sean wasn't interested in.
  11. I heard today you guys want Darren Byfield from us. It was said he wants a loan move out and he wasn't in our 16 against Swansea on Saturday. Hasn't had a chance at all and I'd like to see him go out and do well.
  12. Hi Donny fan here, not sure why you're after him to be honest as at the moment he'd probably not get in your team. Probably about 6th choice here now and he's lost his way a bit recently. I wouldn't mind him going to you as part of a deal for Davies though, he's a striker I really do rate. If you do sign him though and get him fit with form then he's a top quality player, sadly he seems to have had his time here as he's not impressing at all when he plays. Didn't score pre season despite being the most used striker, got himself stupidly sent off against Southend away in the playoffs (most of us thought that would be the end of his time with us) and did absolutely nothing in the cup game at Notts County. Doesn't seem to be a big favourite of SOD's at all. If you do sign him he's one of those who can be described as lazy. He won't sprint around chasing things but he has that knack of making something happen in the box. Good finisher and he's certainly an 18 yard box striker.
  13. As an outsider looking in, Oldham as a club is one for me that is a top half league 1 side than can make it into the Championship. GIven the stadium upgrade and you'll be challenging the likes of Blackpool, Donny and Swansea in all areas. You're a club with potential no doubt and you'll get out of league 1 soon, that I don't doubt.
  14. He can play left side and did for Rotherham. We've tended to play him on the left of the three in midfield. He just doesn't track back enough. For me you have to play him as an AM as he's not the best tracking back and he lacks the pace to beat a man to get a cross in. Think Beckham out wide, he's not a left winger at all and would be a left sided midfield player if anything. Definately a central player for me.
  15. Donny fan here. Always seems to me to have lots of ability but with Wellens and Stock being so good in midfield he hasn't had much of a chance. Not sure he really likes the 3 man midfield and the workrate that's needed in the role he gets asked to play. When he last started for us against Swansea we got smashed after he was brought in. All goals came down his side as he didn't track back and help Roberts out. Since that he hasn't had a look in. I like him and feel if he gets a run and works a bit harder he can do a job, sadly I think he'll go. Wouldn't be surprised to see him head to you in some kind of deal for Taylor, most likely a little bit of cash plus Woods in my view. Wouldn't be bad for us or you really as Woods has potential to be very good in my view.
  16. Not many of us were fans of it at first but it does actually work. I remember at Belle Vue you'd queue for 20-30 minutes at the turnstyles to get in when cash was accepted. Now at the KMS this doesn't happen and people get their tickets in advance. You queue for about a minute and go straight through. It's dead quick as you haven't got the problem of people not having the right change and all that kind of stuff. Far easier and it does work. As has been said the away fans get their ticket at the away end of the ground so avoid the queue for tickets anyway. Having 5500 season tickets helps as less people have to pay on the day. How many you bringing accross? You usually bring a fair number and with it being bank holiday I'd expect a good crowd.
  17. It's going to be a problem for us definately. We lost Mark Wilson to injury last week and have been down to 3 central midfielders. We've had Paul Green filling in at right back, a left back playing central midfield and now our best central midfielder's got a Welsh call up. Means we're down to Richie Wellens on his tod in central midfield which is great when you play 3 in central midfield.
  18. Good move for him I guess, though why Leeds want a passing midfielder when they hoof is beyond me. No problems from Rovers as we'll simply go for someone else. I guess the bigger blow's to Oldham really though.
  19. Doesn't give much away that one. As long as it's sorted quickly, I don't think either lot of fans can grumble.
  20. Was reading about it in the paper here this morning and SOD is furious apparently that the bid got out as he likes to keep everything quiet. Also comments that we bid for him in the summer but Birmingham wanted 400k which at that stage we wouldn't pay so we didn't follow it up.
  21. As you say we don't really play with 2 central midfielders as we don't use wingers. Usually it's 3 midfielders in our team. It is true that we have a lot of tallent in there, but I'm a big fan of Kilkenny and we can make room. I count 7 true central midfielders in our team. Of them one is on loan, one in Kevin Horlock is not in the manager's plans and another is now regarded as a better right back by the manager. Even the 4th guy who plays there is better on the wing or in a free role for me so it leaves us with 3 out and out central midfielders really. The rumours our end have suggested Horlock could be paid up and released and Mark Wilson (our 3rd choice), who's out of contract in the summer could be transfer listed to get a fee. He's also not that popular with the fans. I think we could do with someone in there really but we could get by without. For me Stock and Wellens are the true central midfielders in the side but there's another spot in there available. We'll see I guess.
  22. OK just wondered. I am a Doncaster fan and if you don't allow visiting fans to post then that's fine and I'll respect that.
  23. Any chance I can be allowed to post at all? No problem if I can't just wondered as it won't let me.
