  1. Does anybody have any idea how much it would cost the club to provide this to those in the stands?

Would it actually be of value to supporters?

Would supporters be prepared to pay a small fee for the service - e.g. £2 a game?

May be it is something that could be considered as part of the new stadium development.

(for me it would be a nice to have, making it possible to pick up latest scores elsewhere on my iPod touch. I don't have a vision of 4,000 sat there with laptops on their knees!)

Why????? Can't you pick up scores via WAP like anybody else?....or is it just so that you can advertise how 'cool' you are to have an ipod touch?

  2. Enjoy Oz, I am sure if I ever left these shores then BP would be right up there with the massive misses. Safe journey brother.

I've only been in Oz a matter of weeks and it just happens to co-incide with the highest pre and early season optimism i can remember sice the first season after the 'pinch m' season. Go figure! Was always going to happen...

  3. I was at the Toronto FC game yesterday ( they were playing Chivas).

The fans noticed my Oldham shirt and it seems Paul Dickov has quite the following, I was led to believe that him and Mo Johnson ( who is the clubs Director) are close friends.

They suggested that we should get a pre season friendly with Toronto FC.. Id like that as I am right next to the BMO Field were Toronto play.

Anyway, kind of a pointless post but I try and expand the brand of OAFC where ever I am, my fiancee cant quite grasp it just yet............

Hope all is well with everyone...

Had a wander round Church and Wellesley yet? Makes the Village in Manchester loook positively macho!

  4. ha

Serious question; were you once scorned by a SES Graduate or something? You seem to have an axe to grind that’s all.

Not at all mate, you invited the riposte ^_^

Anyhow; back on topic – I still think this is a very positive move by the new regime. As others have said; if he has even ½ the impact on the teams fitness and state of mind that Harbin did in his time here; then we’re onto a winner.

I wouldn't necessarilly disagree with you, although he will need to be very special to get the best/full respect out of seasoned pros.

  5. Cracking CV he's got; but how the hell has he fitted it all in to his 24 years? 2 degrees alone take up 6 years surely? Then the clubs he's been at and the Aussie Institute of sport....he's been a busy boy somehow!!!

Anyways; I’m really pleased (as a Sports Science Graduate myself [cue comment from Otid about DW Fitness Gym!]) that we now have an official backroom member of staff who is a dedicated Sports Science and Fitness expert. I was in a debate with some on here bemoaning the lacklustre and plainly wrong warm-up’s from last season. Hopefully this lad will sort out all that.

Stronger & fitter players this season. Me likey!!

Get over it kid......just goes to show that one in a hundred or so of you get a proper job. Keep trying!

  6. It's not beyond the realms of possibility. We definitely need one because Brill is cack and, in my opinion, Fleming isn't much better.

You and Dave Penny have some clear common ground. Is it beyond the realms of fantasy that you might suffer the same fate....or is that too much wishful thinking? B)

  7. Morning guys, end of another dissapointing season with nothing to play for on saturday baring a miracle for us.

See Dave Penny has left, any hints as to who's coming in.

Any players definitely on their way out.

Saturday is our final game at Saltergate, a sad day but well over due. Hows your new stadia progressing.

I was at Accrington as a neutral last week and was frankly amazed at your fans chanting for Shez's head. Nice to know there's some fans worse than ours though!

  8. I've just written a fifty page rant to the Football league....i'm just so incensed.

I've been wondering why i've not been able to take full advantage of my SKY TV subscription and after investigation it's quite apparent that a high proportion of night matches are screened on Monday's when i like to go for a quiet curry.

I'm thinking of going down there in the morning to see how they go about their business and will report back if i find out anything.

  9. Indeed it is.

I shall experiment further with the alcohol tomorrow as Zorrro Senior and i will be heading out for a few in the late afternoon before moving on to watch Bad Company at the MEN, and then a slopfest around Deansgate to end the night.

If that doesn't work, nothing will.

Kind of ironic that you're swapping one bad company for another eh?

  10. Sorry OTID I cannot agree with you. It's the wrong way to show your displeasure for me. It hurts the club way way too much and it's the club you and I support. Support means funding it. Dave Penney is not the club, this crop of players is not the club, TTA is not the club. The club is much bigger than them all. It is all who went before us, it's us that go now and all them to follow and the name Oldham Athletic.

How many times as each and every supporter had to stand up in a play ground, a pub, in a place of work with head held high and shoulders back and say I follow OAFC and we're the best club in the world to plastic scum. Now is the time to show that steel now, keep us up and then at the seasons end ask the questions and demand the answers you want.

Saturday is massive and for me anything other than a Latics win will seel our fate as League Two next season. Oh and Dave don't you dare dress Saturday as anything other than a must win game. I can see TTA don't want to pay off yet another manager and I believe that's down to the toy costing more than they are prepared to cough up for it these days. So lets resolve the ground issue one way or another and move aside if it's no longer shiny and new.

I know Lags.......it was a 'toys out of the pram' moment and one which i've been feeling more times this season than any other before....which is why i let the keyboard wobble! Didn't help getting a puncture on the way home.....trust me.....that WAS Penny's fault!!

You and I both know i'll be there Saturday because i just can't help myself. After 40 odd years it is painful to be driven to the level of frustration that i/most of us currently am/are.

I guess the major point of frustration is that it is so blindingly obvious that so much about our club is wrong at the moment. I can cope with much of what happens on the pitch, piss poor though it is......but on top of that........silly, trivial things like reducing the number of gatemen on the car park. OK, the club has a dutiful obligation to us all to attempt to match revenue with cost. It's a bugger of an equation but the answer is not to take decisions that will ultimately reduce revenue still further.....like leaving a trail of cars queueing up on Broadway at kick off time on crowds around 3,000!!! I don't eat pies so i don't suffer the effect of the club not ordering enough....but clearly, many people often do. Of course, it's all extremely trivial.......but the nature of trivial is that it assumes disproportionate significance when what really matters is allowed to fall apart. History says that just about every war and most divorces are living proof. I've never knowingly caused a war......but i can attest to a few of the divorce statistics.....one of them was founded on the fact that i never spent any time at home on Saturdays

Anyhow....i usually only ever post nonsense designed to wind one or two up....last night was different....perhpas for the first time ever i TRULY felt like jacking it in, however temporary that feeling was. That alone should be enough of a warning to those in control. 40 odd years a paying customer says i've the patience of Jobe. The current situation/product/outlook is creating apathy.
