Rowe scored last night, securing Bradfords 5 straight win
Does anyone really still thing that January was a good business month for the club? Really? I didn't think so at the time and after a few weeks i'm certain it wasn't.

I'll bet he hasn't moved house, so, following recent logic, Swindon must be keen to get rid. It's a huge commute.

Are there any on this forum who actually used to chant Zigger Zagger in the 1960s?
Well, not the initial solo bit. Whoever did that was usually hilarious. But certainly joining in the chant thereafter.
It's why we're special and unique.

This league has a lot of managers i've never heard of, good luck to them, but....oh lord, we've got Scholes!!!! Wow! I mean, wow! Recognised by all who know anything about football as one the greatest players of his generation. Of course he might be a Terry Henry (or Bobby Charlton, he was really shit as a manager), but as it stands it's a fantastic coup. I mean, LORD, WE'VE GOT SCHOLES!!!! Any club outside the top two divisions, and many in those divisions, would love to have such a respected former player. He's proud, passionate, no nonsense, blunt and loves the game and the club (Andy Cole said last week that when he was at United, Scholes "always loved Oldham.")
BTW - Paul Ince, you can shove your opinions up your arse. You started at Macclesfield, i believe, but you have a pop at Oldham for being too small for Scholes. Your problem is you're a bit thick and a very selfish individual who doesn't understand what it's like to actually support a club. No loyalty ever in your entire career. No wonder West Ham fans hate you. You're an idiot.
What a weird club this is. More addictive than crack.

I don’t want to come across as the forum police or the pc brigade as you are more than entitled to your own views and to make comments how you wish, tasteful or otherwise.
There are millions of people out there suffering from depression and a whole manner of mental illnesses, some diagnosed and some not as yet. It only takes one of these people to come across comments like yours and finally make that decision to jump off a bridge, stand in front of a train or take that overdose. Sounds like I might be dramatising it a bit, but some of these poor people are that fragile then reading comments like yours could be as little as it takes.
Fair enough if it was only a joke, but perhaps take up a career in comedy and who knows you might fill up the Hammersmith Apollo with people with similar piss poor taste as yourself and become rich beyond your wildest dreams?
Perhaps have a think about it?
You're spot on.
It really isn't in the least bit funny. I see too much of it. It's becoming an epidemic, especially for the under-25s generation. We can barely cope with the rising numbers. It is dibilitationg and incredibly sad for them and those around them.
So called amusing comments from cretins underpinned the stigma around mental health for generations. Thankfully, it's starting to change, but it's a slow process and isn't helped by knobheads who feel they have a right to express themselves freely at the expense of one and all. Insensitive doesn't begin to cover it. Let's hope they, or members of their families, don't suffer from mental health problems. They wouldn't be able to cope.
Well done David for speaking openly. Other players have started to do this in recent years. I really hope you get to the point where you can manage and enjoy life.

He’s 43! Argument finished
Bit of ageism creeping in there.
It is a ridiculous suggestion but, sadly, he's 43 and probably better than the combined efforts of all our midfield players.

New loan signing Jordan Lyden wasn’t involved on Tuesday Evening and Bunn gave an update on his situation.
“We've had a problem with Jordan in the fact he's broken down, but Jordan's loan agreement is incentive based, so financially if he doesn’t reach the games required then it's not costing the club anything.”
Is anyone in the RAC? Surely we can sort a recovery truck. He'll be on the hell that is the M6 for weeks.

This day in 1988. Good following, unbelievable day. What a performance. It screamed, 'we are here and we're really going places.' One of the best ever. Brilliant dynamic midfield at the heart of everything.
Happy 30th anniversary to all who were there!

He's a promising talent, but he isn't our best player (Baxter is a much better footballer), and he has been a dick throughout his brief career. He wasn't even that good in the final third of the season. Infact, he was crap at times. Another one who didn't step up to the plate. Ideally, he'd grow up and stay, but as it stands i'd actually be relieved he just pissed off. This is becoming a pain. As Frankie said, the club has/is clearing the decks and is building anew. Quite right. If Byrne doesn't grow up fast, he'll never fulfil his potential.

Well i think that looks a decent team, apart from the right wing back. Cotterill could've filled that position nicely.
I'm not sure about Coke (and i'd have Gardener in the middle).
Anyway, apart for that, it looks like a good side (i wonder if you could put Lang upfront, drop Coke, put Baxter in a deeper/midfield position, and sign Cotterill).
Yes, like i said, good team.

It appears he's come along way in just over six months. I hope so. time will tell. So far:
getting rid of debts
getting the HRMC sorted out
getting the costs down so we become sustainable (weren't we losing £700k in L1, and now we have a drop of at least £200k, possibly more)
introducing some basic discipline and getting rid of fat bully boys
learning (hopefully) to not interfere on the coaching/playing side - he's made mistakes. Shock, horror. He's never run a club before and he's been faced with a club that everyone seems to think was utterly bizarre in the way it was managed.
Yes, a couple of nice pr stunts plus bringing back a couple of very popular old boys and recognising the No.1 legend inthe club's history - nothing wrong with any of that. Actually showing some respect for the club.
Now, it's all starting to seem sensible. I'll settle for this at the moment. We've had too much chaos for too long. Extra investment in the future can be spent on growth, not throwing it down a black hole.

Calon Lan (close enough)!

I thought he did well in his loan spells, but he was always over weight and picked up a lot of injuries. The last 12 months have seen him slide into a really even more unfit, barely mobile weeble.
It's also highlighted what a total gobshite he is. The man is thick. He's a bully, a thug (sorry, picking on ball boys is not a sign of committment, it reflects what a total dick he is), and he is utterly disrespectful to the fans.
He helped to keep us up, but he was a central figure in taking us down.
Now, when he returns, we have to think about how we can throw as much shit in his face as possible. Carry in bags of dog shit? Have a shit and carry it from the bogs? Or shall we just get some of that pretend plastic shit? Anymore shit suggestions.......?
-
'Go throw shite on yourself.' Pure Shakespeare.
I'll never forget when he gave one of our ballboys a mouthful and an evil stare because he wasn't quick enough in returning the ball.
You couldn't make it up. Is any other club as strange as ours? We'vd had it all over the years.
Still, i have to say, it is entertaining.
-
I thought the Belgian formation might suit us, but the Tottenham style would be better.
Iverson
Dummy/Hamer
Eddie
Clarkey
Hunt
Gardner
Missile/Branger
Cotterill
Baxter
Byrne
Surridge/Don't call me Ishmael
That attacking midfield trio would be very, very exciting. It would rip the veggies apart. Only problem is, one is injured, one is suspended and one hasn't signed. Still, mere details.
-
Are we now looking at 3-5-2? The balance of the squad might suggest it.
Iverson/Placide/Zeus
Edmundson/Hamer Clarke/Graham Taylor/Stott
Dummy/Cotterill Gardner/Coke Missile/Branger Nepo/Hunt
Baxter/Mao
Windy/O'Grady Surridge/Benteke
We've also got the two kids, Fane and Doofus. Hmm. Doesn't seem to be shaping at all badly, at least for Division Four. It might take a few weeks before they settle ( i think MK will be a tricky one), but with a bit of patience we might be able to make more of a fist of it this time.

If he starts listening to Royle's opinions we are in trouble.
Yes, ignore the greatest figure in the history of the club. Very wise. We'd be in trouble if we listen to him. Who knows, we might finish up in the fourth division rather than being founder members of the Premier League.

I looked at the thread title and thought "Watney's Red Barrel".
Going back a few years, but i instantly thought of John Willie Less, especially after it had travelled more than 10 miles. Vile. Worst drink ever. OB was far better, as was/is Holts (and that's rough), Hyde's and Robinson's. Boddington's when at Strangeways was a class act. Pint of Boddies on a Friday, preceded by chips, pudding and gravy in my auntie's Pyrex bowl. Heaven.
How the hell did JWL survive....

Really sad to hear that. What a wonderful player and larger than life character. Didn't he have his own fashion boutique at one stage. King of the mavericks (along with Stan Bowles, and Duncan Mackenzie, and Tony Curry, and Alan Hudson... and Groves and Stainrod and...). Wow, the 1970s!
I watched him at a few Friday night County games. He was class. Oozed flair.
I see he is yet another player who has died in his early 70s after suffering from Alzheimers. It is quite disturbing.
