  1. Ronnie Blair. Mr consistency. Two spells at the club. Great servant and reliable in whatever position he played
  2. Johnny Livesey, talking with Glynn ??? in the doorway - hasn't changed in all these years
  3. In Sept 1989 we went to Newcastle without any of our centre backs. We had to play our right back and a reserve in the centre. Who were they? Earl Barrett and Paul Warhurst. The rest is history. Let's hope.
  4. Bristol Rovers when they played at Eastville hosted Speedway and Greyhounds. In fact after they moved to Bath they still held the 'dogs' at Eastville.
  5. Agreed and Bob Ledger, Jimmy Frizzell, Joe Royle and Ian Wood
  6. David Curry. He was supposed to come alive in the box. Unfortunately he didn't.
  7. We need your help to clear the snow. Please come down to the ground
  8. At least 6in of fresh snow , midnight and its still snowing. Pitch will be perfect but the surrounds to the ground will be a nightmare. It needs to stop soon and the council to send in the snow ploughs to clear the car park and the surrounding roads and land if the game is to go ahead.

  10. Need to take advantage of this and hive out tokens at next home game
  11. Thanks for the insight but still retain my view. I agree with majority of your post about method of playing but the simple fact was that away from home Groves was not as effective . It would be interesting to research some of the performance marks from the papers of that era. The vast majority of 8 or 9's from Groves, would be from home games. As for entertainers I agreed with your list but would add Bobby Johnstone and Billy Johnston. Most naturally gifted player must be Bobby J. Sad really, no real entertainers for nigh on 20 years yet we still turn up. And I'be just renewed my season ticket!0
  12. Groves was a great entertainer and a superb player but let's not get carried away. During the 70's for a period I hardly missed a match and whoever we played we always thought that we had a chance AT HOME. Away was another matter. Generally we were woeful unless we had a decent following. We just didn't travel well. If our following was small then some players, notably Groves were often absent in action. Sometimes he find'tw want to know. Yet the next game he would turn it on. Why else was he with us so long? Great memories from a special player who could have been so much better if he performed equally well home and away.
  13. Why not have a day out in Liverpool tomorrow and go in person?
  14. Graham Anderson, still goes to every home game, sits in main stand. Been a fan for well over 40 years.
  15. About 20,000 less than that. 2-2. They scored from inside their own half, a hoof upfield that bounced over Bollands; head (our goalie) on the bone hard pitch. Match would have been called off these days. West Ham team wore gloves much to our amusement. "Soft Southern ...." You can guess the rest. Love to say great days but they were still a long way off
  16. Dojo Cuts If you like soul and funk then you will love this band (from Australia - seems to be the home of soul at the moment!)
  17. 87 all with Latics. I missed Accrington last season. Still need Aldershot, Dagenham, Barnet and Morecombe. Mind you I've done probably 100 if you count all those not ipresently n the league e.g. Barrow, workington, Southport, Halifax, Cambridge, Rushden etc etc That's the problem with being old
  18. Name? Milnrow latics Location? Milnrow How Long Supporting the Tics? Almost 50 years Best away match you've been to? In the league Ipswich away 1991 or York away 1974 In the cup Southampton 1990 or Wembley 1990 All Time Greatest Player? Bobby Johnstone or Roger Palmer or Andy Ritchie Biggest Rivals (in your eyes)? None these days.
  19. 7 games in 22 days! Wafer thin squad! IF, and a big one, we stay clear of injuries, we might just squeeze into the play offs? Cheltenham home and Crewe away both look crucial. Please let's not have a repeat of last season What do you think?
