On Tuesday we have a cup double header. The youth team have a away game in the Lancashire FA Youth Cup quater final. The opponents are Rochdale and the venue is Ashton United's Hurst Cross (Hurst Cross, Surrey Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, OL6 8DY). KO is 14.00. Entrance is usually free for Dales games at Ashton United. In the evening at 19.00 the first team play in the second round of the Johnson Paints Trophy at Boundary Park against Dario Grady's Crewe Alexandra. Saturday sees the youth team back at Hurst Cross against Rochdale. This time in the Youth Alliance League. KO 11.00. In the afternoon we start our campaign in the FA Cup at home to Burton Albion. KO 15.00. Next Sunday the Ladies team are away at AFC Oldham Vixens. Venue is Tate Street, Oldham OL8 2DD. 50 Up Some supporters have been asking me how many games this season and the Crewe game will be 50 games for the season (not including Ladies games)

The youth team begin their cups campaign on Tuesday evening in the FA Youth Cup first round at Spotland against Rochdale (19.00). Rochdale manager Chris Beech always has a well drilled team so it will be difficult game. The lads follow that on Saturday morning with a Youth Alliance Cup first round game at Chesterfield (11.00). The game will be played at Warminster Road, Norton, S8 8PS. In the afternoon the first team will be at home to Bury (15.00) Next Sunday the ladies are at Curzon Ashton Ladies (14.15)

The draw has taken place for the second round of the FA Youth Cup. If Latics beat Rochdale at Spotland on Nov 1st then they will be at home to Prescot Cables, York City or Macclesfield Town. Prescot Cables play York City on Tuesday night (Rd3Q) and the winners of that are at home to Macclesfield Town in the first round proper.

Three away games this week: On Tuesday at 19.45 the first team visit Preston North End. £17 to get in for adults - very reasonable, well done North End. It is Dec 1999 since our last visit to Deepdale and (according to Statto) 1981 since we won there. NE have lost their last two games so are there for the taking :-) Next Saturday at 11.00 the youth team are at Burnley. The game is at Gawthorpe. Directions: Exit Junction 8 of the M65, heading for Padiham. At the bottom of the hill turn Right at the lights. Follow the road to junction and turn Right following signs for Burnley. Follow the road and Gawthorpe Hall is on your Left. Take the entrance to Gawthorpe Hall and follow the lane to the car park signposted Burnley FC Only. After a three game losing streak hopefully the excellent game and 0-0 draw at PNE yesterday will give the lads a boost as we move into the period when Latics enter the three cup competitions. Going to be a bit tight but we should make it for KO in in the afternoon at Carlisle United for the first team. To round off the weekend next Sunday the Oldham Athletic Ladies team are away at Atherton Ladies at 14.00.

Ive been contacted by a couple of people checking the venue for this afternoons reserve game. I believe the Chron says Chapel Road (dont buy it so I cant confirm) The venue is Boundary Park KO 14.00. ST voucher 4.

On Tuesday afternoon 14.00 KO the reserves play their second game in the Manchester Senior Cup against Rochdale. Boundary Park is the venue £4 for adults £2 for concessiond and free for Season Ticket Holders (Vouchers 4) Next Saturday morning at 10.30 Tony Philiskirks charges play at Preston North End. The game will be played at the PNE Springfields training centre, Dodney Drive, Lea, Preston: Leave M6 at junction 31 up the hill and right at the mini roundabout, take the Blackpool Road. Follow and eventually 'Deepdale' is visible on the left as you approach a major set of lights. Continue through the lights through a series of lights until you see the 'Toby Carvery Pub'. Opposite is Tudor Avenue - turn right into Tudor Avenue and then a sharp left into Greenside Avenue and right into Dobney Drive. The training ground is approx. 100 yards further on on the right. From the official Accrington Stanley website: Match Report FL Youth Alliance (NW) Conference Accrington Stanley FC Youth 1 - 0 Oldham Athletic FC Youth 08-October-2011 After losing three recent games in the dying minutes, Phil Hackney couldn't hide his pleasure after his youngsters held onto a 1 - 0 lead and secured a first win of the season with a clean sheet against a good Oldham Athletic side. "I'm really pleased for the boys, they have finally got what they deserve. I have to admit it wasn't a good performance and we have lost games playing much better, but the hard work has at last paid off. They will now all need to shave off the scraggy chin fluff they vowed to keep until we won! Marcus Carver made it 6 in 6 with a superb display up front where he terrorised the Oldham defence and claimed his 6th of the campaign with a clever turn before firing home for the only goal of the game on the half hour mark. Despite being out played and out manouvered for the majority of the game, the players showed commitment, desire and resiliance to earn three well deserved points". Oldham 'Gaffer' Tony Philliskirk knew how to stifle Accrington's attacking options by 'shackling' the young Reds midfielder Ryan Hopper, which certainly impacted on the young Reds performance, however he didn't counteract the all action attacking threat of Marcus Carver and the solid defensive display of Joe Greenhalgh, and Accringtons back four led by captain Oliver Holden. The game had a scrappy start with both sides trying to get a foothold. Oldham were getting forward and pressurising Stanley's defence, hitting Adam Smith's far post in the 6th minute and generally 'strangling' any options the young Reds had of putting their passing game together. With Oldham in the ascendancy and Stanley relying on breaks, it was 20 minutes before Dale Connor the visiting keeper was brought into the action with a fingertip save from Marcus Carver who had evaded the Oldham challenge to cut inside and unleash his shot on goal. The resultant corner then whipped through the 6yd box to safety. Oldham broke away following a goalkick in the 23rd minute and the first time cross went narrowly wide of Accringtons far post, but then the tide started to turn. Stanley started to get their passing game together although Oldham had the better of the possession, Stanley provided the biggest threat in front of goal. On the half hour mark, two freekicks, one to the visitors followed almost immediately by one for Stanley was to be decisive and the defining moment of the game; Oldham's came to nothing but the young Reds took advantage with theirs, the ball played in to Carver on the edge of the box who turned and drilled his effort into the bottom corner of the net 1 - 0. The next 15 minutes saw Oldham waste a number of chances and Accrington were still relying on good fortune and breaks as the game continued with Oldham in the ascendancy. In the 40th minute Accrington had a let-off when both centre halves were caught out but fortune favoured the young Reds as the ball was stroked wide of the far post. 2 minutes later Accrington worked their way into the Olham box, the ball deflected away to safety, before Oldham gained a corner and put the Stanley defence under pressure again, an Oldham player being allowed to 'skip' through the penalty box, but fortunately cleared for another corner which was also cleared before the referee blew his whistle for the half-time break. HT 1 - 0 The second period started with Accrington on the front foot and with two minutes on the clock inter-play between James Doig and Adam Stockdale down the right flank saw Doig's forward pass slip the Oldham defence for Marcus Carver to chase down. With Oldham's keeper reacting late the Reds striker and goalkeeper clashed as the ball went narrowly wide of the far post for a corner. The goalkeeper required treatment before being replaced, but not before his side had cleared the corner and broke up field at pace and almost catching the Stanley defence flat-footed. After 55 minutes where Stanley were getting a fair share of the proceedings, Oliver Holden picked up the ball and made up the ground as the midfield 'opened' before feeding Jack Willison who's shot was gathered by the substitute keeper. Accrington were definitely more in the game and possession was getting better, a long ball from Joe Wilkinson on the hour saw the ball touched out for a corner but then Oldham were gaining a freekick in a dangerous position which deflected for a corner of their own. The game was now end to end stuff and in the 68th minute a Joe Greenhalgh header played in Jack Willison whos goalbound effort brought a magnificent fingertip save from the Oldham goalkeeper for a corner. With the Stanley pressure mounting Jack Sargent set up Marcus Carver whos 'flicked'header gained another corner. Alex McPolin replaced James Doig on 70 minutes and provided fresh legs through the midfield and as it seemed Stanley were getting the better of the proceedings they were under threat again after 75 minutes when Karl Dailey tripped an Oldham attacker on the edge of the penalty area but the freekick was cleared. With 7 minutes remaining Phil Hackney replaced Jack Sargent with Louis Martini, the substitution allowing Adam Stockdale to move forward and inject extra pace through the middle in order to force Oldham onto the back foot. As 90 minutes approached, and with previous games still vivid in the memory, Phil Hackney was clearly determined to keep his players focussed and concentrating through to the final whistle. As the game moved into time added on Oldham threw everything into attack as they went in search of an equaliser, but today the young Stanley players stood firm and showed their courage, determination and resiliance as they blocked any goalbound effort. An ecstatic Phil Hackney said after the game, "What a last 15 minutes that was! we have showed a different side to our character and spirit today, Oldham cut-off our attacking options and although we were stifled in our approach work we got the ball in the net and held on for a well deserved win. For all their threat, Adam Smith has hardly had a save to make, yet both of their goalkeepers had to make important saves to prevent us extending our lead. The first team take part in the televised Sky game on Monday at 19.45 against MK Dons. Wednesday sees the reserves travel to Morecambe's Globe Arena for a Central League game. Think I can trump that with Jan Budtz match worn shirt's - 2 of them

This was the season we had the burgundy & gold away shirt. We asked CP if they would consider wearing their change strip in the game. They declined so this strip was specially commisioned for this and any other cup games that season we might have needed it for. Adding to its collectability is that none of the major Latics shirt collectors got one in the website auction so the few that have come on offer have gone for high prices. One collector sold up last season and that has depressed the market. Last year I was offered one of these in a frame that was "matchworn" for which the seller wanted £700 which at the time I was considering paying, until I had him take the back of the frame off and there was no player detail on the back............... As for the Pink ones yes they where auctioned for a breast cancer charity - which did inflate the final price's a lot. The other one off shirt was the Kettering poppy shirt - auctioned for the Royal British Legion

This was only match this white shirt with Torex as sponsor was worn in.

My own preference would be College Football rather than the NFL. More exciting, more chances taken, more mistakes.

Converted all my VHS onto DVD - have over 100 discs to date. Only one I have had any trouble with is the Scarborough 7-0 game.

Why are we encouraging supporters to go to a rugby game in stockport on Sat? Go to a non-league game instead. Ill be at my local Bacup Borough but Latics fans might want a look at Scott Spencer who is tearing it up for Hyde FC. They are at home to Nuneaton Borough in the Blue Square Bet North. Oldham Borough are also at home to Holker Old Boys.

The last white one to sell on ebay went for £800 and I have seen a couple traded privatley for high value. The Pinks shirts went for between £355 for Seb Hines & Steve Kabba to £810 for Sean Gregan.

Actually its a realistic price for those two shirts.

Tuesday sees the first team at Scunthorpe United in the Johnstone Paints Trophy. Early 19.00 kick off so handy to catch the worst of the traffic between Bradford & Leeds on M62. Next Saturday the youth team at Accrington Stanley (11.00 KO). This season Stanley are playing their home youth games at the Crown Ground. Entrance by programme priced £1.50. Next Sunday Oldham Athletic girls and women have a home game against Denton Girls at Chapel Road (14.00).

And if your not making the trip to Exeter the youth team are at home to Blackpool at Chapel Road (11.00). Four players graduated to full time pros from last seasons team so why not come along and take a look at the next group of lads vying for a pro deal. Best of all its free.

This afternoon the Oldham Athletic ladies team lost 9-1 to a experienced Urmston Meadowside at George Street playing fields, Shaw.
