  1. I've been working away for the last few days but recieved a text message last night with the decision. I felt sick to the stomach. But out of the ashes comes this...................................................... The finest display of passion and camaraderie I have witnessed in over 20 years of following Latics. I'll be there on Saturday and thanks to all involved for setting this up; legends!!!! KEEP THE FAITH
  2. Err season ticket sales were down 40% which I'm guessing is about £450,000. So assuming we could afford to lose an extra £450,000 on top of what we lose anyway (wasn't that supposed to be about £900,000 when TTA took over) then no he wasn't going to ruin the club................................ Diego; Granted, he should not be in the same catagory as Chris Moore, but I would still boo him.
  3. Ronnie Moore, Chris Moore for me, two people who nearly ruined my beloved club.
  4. I wasn't a Haining fan but that's a disgrace
  5. Is it discounted tickets for "an Audience with Ronnie Moore"
  6. Some kind of monthly direct debit throughout the year that pays for your season ticket?
  7. Great letter that Dan, I really hope the "rarely wrong" Chron publish it.
  8. A good example of this would be the '86 World Cup in Mexico. Bryan Robson dislocated his shoulder and Ray Wilkins was sent off which meant Bobby Robson was forced into playing Peter Beardsley. All of a sudden (to use a Ronnieism) the team gelled and Lineker started scoring goals for fun; because it was the best most balanced team, and not based upon the reputation of Robson and to a lesser extent Ray "the crab" Wilkins.
  9. One of my most dissapointing days ever at BP was when the legend that is Denis Irwin returned for the first time with them down the road. He was constantly boo'd and people were shouting Judas at him through the game. Alright we all hate that lot, but Irwin was and is a true Latics legend who was a massive part of the cup run team of the late eighties. To treat him like that I thought was a disgrace
  10. "Crossley's performances improved no end once he remebered he wore glasses"
  11. This isn't a new phenomenon as I'm sure your aware, there has always been a certain amount of apathy toward Latics in the area. This I suppose is largely due to the fact that many in the area choose to support City and United either by going to the games or via television. Sadly since the 80's we have rarely had crowds at the 8,000 level apart from the pinch me years and the season after relegation from the top flight. So I think it's unlikely to happen now, unless we either get promoted or I'm sure a new stadium will also revive interest. I can remember crowds of under 4000 for league games in the early to mid 80's, but for most of that time we hovered around the 5000 - 5500 mark as we do now. On that basis I don't think we need that level of crowd to sustain the club, but it maybe we would need to lower our expectations. One final point, if you look around the attendances for the 1st round of the cup the figure at BP wasn't that bad. So I'm guessing that other clubs are having the same problem as us and it's not just that we have a bunch of fair weather fans. If you look at it another way and continuing on from what amoweb said it's case of supply and demand. If lower league football clubs are suffering poor attendances at cup matches like this, it's obviously because there isn't a demand for the product at that price. Of course the ultimate solution from the club's point of view is to do what Manure have done and force ST holders into purchasing cup tickets!!!!!!!
  12. I'm away in London with work and would really appreciate it if someone posts on here when the decision is made. I'll be checking it throughout the evening.
  13. Since when did a 4 metre wide cycle track become a "Highway." He makes it sound like the A627M is going to be extended through a footbal pitch. PMSL
  14. I don't understand why not going to a game means you are not a supporter. I didn't go on Saturday, but I've a list as long as your arm of games I have attended that I bet a lot of the "Super Fans" that post on here didn't go to. Some people have lots of other things that they do in their lives other than follow Latics, so with each game comes the decision what is the priority? Obviously on Saturday a number of people decided the priority wasn't going to BP, but you shouldn't shoot them for that. Who's to say that some of the people who didn't go chose not to go because they had been to both Orient and Tranmere last week, but had some things they wanted to do on Saturday that meant they couldn't be "bothered" with a game at home against a team we will now play 5 times this season. And what if these same people are going to attend the planning meeting later this week, which in my opinion is far more important than any home game. Are these people not fans then? We all 'support' the club in the way that we can. If I dropped the Euro Millions I would buy Latics off TTA and I wouldn't be arsed about flats and houses and the likes, it would be a Jack Walker job where I wouldn't expect anything back. But that's just me, a 'supporter' not a business man. I'm not criticsing TTA, I will be eternally greatful for what they have done, just pointing out that you can be a supporter and not necessarily go to every game.
  15. I'm gonna make a controversial statement here (I think). But I'm not too bothered about Rooney missing the game, I think the Owen/Rooney partnership is pretty poor. Owen's best games for England have come when he has a big Striker playing alongside him, he suddenly started finding the net again with Heskey alongside him. So I reckon an Owen /(and dare I say it) Crouch partnership would be the best solution for this (hopefully) crunch match. Although I think he's probably over the hill a bit now, I also think we might need Beckham too. We will need some quality balls into the box, and there is no-one better than Beckham for this; plus you get the added bonus of injury time 0-0 and we have a free kick at the edge of the area. Who would you want taking it? I guess Im on my own here but.......................................................
  16. So if Lidds fails to get fit for weekend, will we see Taylor finally get a chance on the right wing? I think a run of games there and we might see him back to his best.
  17. Err sorry didn't actually. I'm clearly not a Super Fan just a mere supporter. Still, had a nice afternoon in the Chat Room though
  18. Hope there's no over zealous stewards there trying to make you sit down the whole time
  19. Looks like we will need far fewer than 300 to go. According to The Chron, and as we know The Chron is rarely wrong, there will only be 120 seats in the chamber. How good would it be if all 120 seats were filled by Latics fans!
  20. I think Rubs has done enough in playing terms to earn a contract, but budget wise I can see the club letting him go. Shame really.
  21. I'm away in London with work on the night, so I know it's a case of do as I say not as I do, but I would urge anyone who can attend to attend. This is probably bigger than any match any of us have attended at BP, as it will safe guard the future of OAFC.
  22. How funny would it be if the Donny fans turned up with the old one on Saturday............................................................... err actually scrub that, that would mean there would be two of the things there then.
