Have you lot gone stark raving bonkers? This is League 1 we are talking about-for the younger posters it was Division 3-yes 3. Other than being a great player what do you know about his managerial abilities and expect him to know about managing a poor-both financially and playing wise club?

This is the very future of the club you are talking about not some lottery style wish list but many still seem to think that because Sheridan was a very good player he could manage and that went well didn't it?

Yes it may sound exciting to be linked with the name but come on wake up and smell the coffee!!

If it doesn't work out we'll just bring Sheridan in at February time, chill. ;)

  2. This is brilliant!!! Haha!

Aside from the craziness of it all, I love listening to him when he's on the BBC for summer tournaments. Not only did he have interesting and original ideas on TV, the manner he put them across was very easy to follow and charismatic. This would translate very well to training sessions and tactical meetings.

Maritimo finished 6th in Portugal's top flight and he appeared 8 times for them but then they loaned him to a 3rd division side he never played for.

    I hope he's amazing, but.....

Famalicão are 2nd tier, not 3rd tier, for what it's worth. He doesn't have to be amazing, hopefully he's at least decent. ;)

Touch of sarcasm given we have more attacking midfielders than the England national pool of players. We don't need another keeper with Jonny Dickfingers primed and ready.

He's a winger rather than a central attacking player. Which is handy with Kyeremeh's injury layoff.

Played a decent amount of times in the Portuguese Prem, and a handful of Europa League qualifiers with Petrolul.

How many seasons are we gonna get this comment out of the locker?

That's the thing isn't it, season after season, it wears you down.

It's the home results especially, they've been poor for a decade. If they could just sort that out it'd improve the mood substantially.

  6. I mean Ripley isn't beyond the realms of believability. You could theorise that we've been the only solid offer to have him as their number 1 all this time, and the widespread news of his availability is an effort by his dad/agent to get a better offer from somewhere before finally settling for Latics at the 11th hour. It would make sense of how much was made of imminent Bristol City and Blackburn transfers, and then seemingly disappearing again. Trying to attract Number 1 offers.

But I just feel we'll have some other mug with the gloves on Saturday. We'll soon find out either way!

Went on the website to buy 2 tickets for the Oxford game and they're not on there yet.

Also does anyone know whether pay in advance is still £20 this season, have I missed any confirmation?

Yeah, same prices. Checked to see if Oxford are talking about us yet, and they've been buying tickets at £20 a throw, with the warning of it going up £4 on matchday.

  8. I'm fairly convinced we'll seldom be using wingers this season. Wing backs in either 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 diamond looks to be our best set up. If you get the correct players, using wing backs can be likeb having an extra player.

Unfortunately, Ryan Mac would also be our best wing back. Least we'd have Dummigan and Hunt.

  9. Some eyebrow raising posts so far! Lots of conjecture, and an interesting case of thinking that by six figure sum, the chronicle actually means five figure sum.

Honestly it's an interesting quandary. We all like McLaughlin, but if the fee is decent, and if we're likely to lose him for nothing in a year, it makes sense. We live on a fine line financially, so if it helps us get another good player, and pay or staff on time, I'd be inclined to back the manager

It helps when you can trust the guy in the boss seat, rather than other gaffers we've had lately.
