Norwood is a proven striker but needs desperately the service from midfield plus I'd play Reid alongside him up front
-
Only 2 games in and Mellon is sorting out the good from the average .At least he's trying Tollitt and Hope out which Unsworth hardly used and who kept his favourites.
He now knows what we need hopefully after that dire performance and will get the same backing . I'm just glad we have him on board and got shut of Unsworth.
Onwards and upwards.

And leaves Shelton on, takes Lundstram off for Toilet.
Tollitt can play well particularly when he cuts in and shoots for the top corner but has his faults Worth a go imo.

Lundstam as poor as the other midfielders.
Not one of ours playing well.
They look miles sharper and fitter.
Probably as bad as we have ever seen under Unsworth. At least 4 signing needed asap.
Now Hogan sent off.
Nice you are back.Shame about the game.

Can you get a beer behind the goal or is it another dry ground?
Bradley's Sports Bar at the ground normally serves away fans .If not Lane End pub 10 mins walk down Weeton Road.
The ground is in the middle of no where with one big atand

Mellon might need a stiff drink
He deserves a mega large Aberlour after that!!

Plenty of quality on the bench.Glad he's giving Hope a chance.

Just listened to Mellon on the official site and he comes across as being very experienced, sincere and I'm sure the club will be proved right on choosing him
He also talked about a book he's written called the First 100 Days about leadership skills and the proceeds go to help motor neurone disease which a close friend of mine died from when only 40..Anyway here's to a good game this afternoon and our fans/supporters enjoy the match.

Looks like another good signing plus Murray has been kept on.

They have spent a kings ransom rebuilding the drains and the pitch at Spotland in recent years. If it stops raining heavily at around 1am as forecast I'd predict it will then drain and the game will be on. Dale won't want this moved to a Tuesday night as they have sold a lot of tickets
It will be on.Weather forecast ok tomorrow.

Still annoyed I couldn't get a ticket but still hope it goes ahead and we get a decent performance.
-
Let's wait and see Personally I liked his first speech which was imo both honest and its obvious he won't suffer fools gladly or have his favourites despite lack of form

I don’t think our striking contingent is anywhere near as good as people make out.
If I was a betting man I would pair Norwood with Willoughby which I think could be our best option!
If I was a betting man I'd have Reid and Norwood with Fondup Willoughby and Nuttall on the bench

I mentioned this the other day, Reid might struggle when he’s asked to put a shift in as well.Nah
I think we have a group of good strikers but hope he sticks with Reid and Norwood for starters

Oh well someone had to play them. They are a tough team .Last time I went Fondop had a blinder and we were down to 10.Cant see many going all that way but it is one we can win.Good inside bar and food.

Good game which could have gone either way.
Glad Tollitt given a chance.Sheron poor though Considering Altrincham were unbeaten last few games this win is even better. Plenty for Mellon to consider..

Bit unfair blaming Latics , they put them on sale as soon as they received them plus allowed you to buy online beforehand.
Alty & their printers fault , they even managed to print the wrong price on them.
Given it’s a qualifying cup game , stood in the open at one of the worst grounds in the league £20 is way too expensive . Given that both clubs need to agree a price reduction I don’t think you need to look too far to see who the greedy ones are!!
Just hope they spend some of the money improving the shitehole of a ground
Too true. For a posh town it makes Seel Park look good.
I also agree about that nightmare Tuesday night match when we were sat in a relict of a stand.

A big thanks to Thommo for what he did following on from Unsworths mess.

I would like 2 if anyone ends up with some but can’t go. Hopefully there’ll be some general sale on Thursday.
Indeed
I'd like a ticket for my mad keen son who is in the army so can't get the benefit of a ST and just back from Latvia and I will try Thursday to get him one .
If not if anyone can't go please let me know .

The last 4 performances have been utter horse shit and not a good audition for him to be the permanent manager...
Indeed they have but still undefeated and he has our club to heart most fans like him as well as the players and if he gets anything like the backing Unsworth had then I'm for giving him the job .

No-one ever seems to mention Hope any more. Tons of league experience at a higher level. Looked effective last season b4 the Chesterfield incident. Can play wing or front three. Works hard, can hold it, can finish. Attitude is apparently good. Looked back to sharpness in recent cameos. Was sub a couple of times but now omitted again. I think he should be an option.
Apart from someone like Vincent today and a right fullback with pace I think we are OK.A new manager should be able to improve the rest.
