What I am trying to show is that Joe often had to sell his best players and those he replaced them with were often met by people reading the back of the Chron and muttering "Who the frig is he?" He knows what it takes to dismantle a side and if sacrificing Taylor and Eardley is needed to allow Joe the scope to bring in the type of player he knows will do a job and get us the results we want - I say go for it! Yeah he had more money back then, but League One is very much a wheeler and dealers market, something Joe has proved he can do in EVERY job he's had, he cleared out wholesale at Everton and City and got his rewards and got a team of kids and veterans at Ipswich into the play-offs twice after having to bin the big names or sell them for what they could.

Would Gannon et al have the nouse to do this? Ronnie tried and failed miserably.

Cash in Taylor and Eardley, give Joe a substantial budget and we'll have a bloody good chance imo.

aww bless...good old days....what a trip done memory lane reading the above....and all took great pride in putting on a latics shirt and getting stuck in...

  2. I hope everyone has their outfits ready?

There has been a lot of people asking about this one, but i will have to work it on a first come first served basis, ill be at the games for deposits which will secure your seat!

Excellent idea as you were still out of pocket from those no -shows from the trip to carlise..we'll have our dosh ready..I've got a reciept/duplicated carbon book you can have if you wanna log whose paid and their deposits. Let me know if you need it - T

  3. Lets hope it doesn't come to an sort of negative reaction from the fans on Saturdays game.

I hoping that a JR rollicking after the brighton game was enough for some players to take a good look at themselves, what they have put into a season and whether they have the guts to fight for latics next season.

    Wanna predict the score?

  4. I dont believe the story for a second but if it is true we are going to end being Citys reserve side? no thanks id rather have TTA and keep our identity :who:

I concur...don't like the thought of city being able to come in and pinch some (hopefully) talent to keep their premiership alive....or even of they have a run of injuries - who are they gonna call????? - latics!!!...pinch from us?...We would be stuck in this division for many seasons to come....nope it ain't right.....

  5. Get it on order now!!!!.....its the only rise this team is gonna get for the rest of the season, even if they are going to be horizontal.......in fact....give to the fans too....we need to be stimulated...hell!!! Anyone in for a smash and grab raid at the Royal oldham Hospital before hand????.......God knows we deserve it, well aren't we still one of the highest grounds in the footy league to justify the medication?...lol

  6. its only coz season tickets were 20 quid cheaper in there hopefully when the redevelopment is complete everyone will return to the chaddy end and it will sing once again. the cheaper season tickets has ruined the match day atmosphere and possibly affected the performances on the pitch. in the second half of games the chaddy end used to be on its feet every attck eggin on the team but now there is little or no encouragement. has to change but with more empty seats than taken seats it will be a while before that happens. as a chaddy ender i hope the season tickets are the same price in both stands and hope every one who left for the roccy road end come back to recreate the atmosphere that the chaddy end is capable of

Thanks Dave, that explains it...betcha starting to feel all alone in the chaddy

  7. I'd rather Leeds have won than Tranmere who'd of gone 5 clear of Scunny.

Leeds were pretty much guarenteed a playoff spot before today so there's no harm in them getting one over the dippers.

Shame about Dale though...whats going on??????...maybe we should all stick to killer...lol
