  1. I love being a latics fan....

I have just been reading all the diverse comments after tonights performance posted on here and I have gone from feeling very sad to a least having a smile put back on my face (non - alcoholic/sexual either...lol)

I have had a little faith restored that through it all, we can have a sense of humour too - lets face it after tonight we could all cry.

I still don't agree with the level of abuse the team is getting - tonight made me really angry to the point I turned on a few fans myself and I am still questionning if I should return to witness that level of abuse again. I won't stand there quitely either listening to it like a few others didn't too. It was very hard to see and of course do - turn on another latics fan.

At the end of the day latics is my team and no matter what I will defend them at all cost, that is my choice. I "support" on the terracces even when its bad, and some fans sing how :censored:e we are an the team on't deserve to wear the shirt..I wanna sing that I love you Oldham, we do...an c'mon Olham gives us a goal.....ooooooo...."

Has the hightened abuse put anyone else off going or bringing the family to BP again???

Has it finally split the fans too?

I am questionning wether I should not go anymore - just to save myself being cartered off from the boys in blue from abusing a fellow fan.

This wil for me, be a night/early morning to remember

  2. Agreed, this is what we have got, accept it and work with it...

I was in the RRE behind the net and lost my rag with some fans behind me after the third goal went in. Gregan just before it asked for calm and he got abused too "get it sorted..."...."you should never have come back..."

Shocking, I just knew BRill was going to get it when he came out at half time..and boy did he. the first time every I have walked out on a game, not because of the footy - because of the fans and my young nephews witnessed it too. My 6yr nephew asked why everyone was shouting and he didn't like it. I decide to leave.

I will have to reconsider if I should taken them back - or even if I should return myself as I will not sit quietly witnesssing abuse around me.

I want to defend my team at all cost..through good and bad.....please, please, please, those abusive fans don't come back for my sake...

I even think the club have it in for Brill as when he came out they played that song...."this is how it feels to be lonely, this is how it feels to be small, this is how it feels when your world means nothing at all......" Cheers DJ, the Irony for Brill.

I am one sad fan tonight...

  3. +1 Senor

Our fans were no better than the team tonight re attitude

Yes the players were crap tonight, in fact they give crap a bad name

But fans screaming at the players calling them f*****g c***s (and this was at 0-0 and 1-0 when we were still in the game) is completely uncalled for.

People go on about "if i did that in my job I would be sacked", put it another way, if someone was screaming at you "you f*****g fat c**t your f*****g s**t at you all the time, lets see it that motivates you"

Me too...it has been the first time ever I have walked out on a game, not because of the footy - okay not great but because of the fans ...Yes...It came to a point after the third goal went in that I ended up ranting and raving myself....not to the pitch but to those fans behind me in the RRE. TO the point where my 5 yr old nephew tugged on my coat and asked why everyone was shouting & he didn't like it - me included as I was still having a discussion with the fans behind me still about the how the negative shouting was going to help, when I realised myself that I was embarrassed to be a latics fan, and now I feel I should not open up my nephews to that sort of abuse either. I have to decide if I ever want them to come with me again, or wether I should attend myself as again as I do not want to witness that or even shout at a fellow fan again

My heart bled seeing the shocking abuse the team got and he fact the fans have turned on each other too. A friend of mine saw what was happening with me and these "fans" and rushed down the stairs to see if I was alright. - thanks Beardy

Gregan even asked for calm just before the 3rd goal and he was shout to get it sorted and he should have never come back.... Brill got cheered every time he did a positive kick or catch - remember guys he does have a line of defence too that those attackers should not be able to get a sniff of that penalty box.

I have to say, I thought we looked better up front in the first half with a bit more width and there was an air of positivness at the start, but it turned really horrible. I wonder how many fans/families after tonight will recosider going back to BP...

I am a very sad fan tonight and not because of the result either

  4. Spray on jeans and knee length leather boots......hmmmmm thats what the one on the beginning on the video wears, hope underdog doesn't read this but they were kinda cute

Actual I have now...funny I don't remember her wearing that little number in the latics shop that day.....Rainmac and wellies as it was lashing it down.....oh yes, back in the underdog's doghouse for you deary...

  5. i left after swindon scored cause i sick of the school boy errors everyweek now, this doesn't make me a moaner or any less of a fan than you.

No it does not and I apologise. I was referring to those who had turned on their team and sang how crap and how we had screwed it up and then left

We did not deserve to lose

  6. What roar are you talking about?

Hardly anyone left in the ground once swindon scored their second

yarddog cofirmed he did, 92 minute goal swindon how many others thought it was over at that point too. Some that we were sat with did and went off to the pub.

And the roar was me........even with a sore throat....because we did not deserve to lose.

  7. Gregan had a look of disbelief on his face when nearly everyone in the RRE headed for the exit. I bet he was laughing his head of at those people when we scored that late goal :)

yep... I agree....see my post on "and the crowd turns..."....revenge is a dish best served when the moaners have pissed off outta he ground and don't see it. Hope they heard it though as soon as they set foot on SHeepfoot lane - the roar of an equalizer is sweet enough..

  8. Thank you Mrs S.......not even on the terraces and wishing for an "oh so last minute, wipe that smirk off your face goal."

To be honest, being in the RRE, I thought yesterdays equaliser had hit a latics player on the arse and deflected in......the bloody post did it instead eh.....lol...our new striker, solid up front and is always on the line. I defo need new glasses....lol

And thaks for the memory flash back Mr S...I remember that game too.......

  9. One other problem is the home fans have been starved of anything decent for months. The last months of Sheridans reign were horrendous and some seem to be thinking that a draw against Stockport and then throwing a win away against Swindon is not acceptable. There are things that need sorting and the keeper and CB issues will bite DP on the backside if he doesnt get something sorted out soon, but I really do think we need to give this side at least 3 months before we can really start to form a reasonable opinion on what this season holds for us.

Exactly what DP said in yesterdays programme, we need 10-12 games in. The boo boys on the terraces seem to be in the main, the younger generation - no patience these days.

It was not good and I will not participate in that kinda of vocal support.

  10. so the last 15 minutes of yesterdays was the most exciting eh!!!!!!!.

Regardless of the ups an downs we had, what I don't agree with is our own fans turning on our own team. That is so wrong.

We are all entitled to our opinion and pay our money on the gate too, but to disrespect your own team like you were singing well, how's that going to help??????????? Gregans face when he dropped down to his knees after that 2nd goal went in said it all and he just stared at the RRE end when certain fans were singing how "crap" we were will be the memory I take away from yesterdays game. Our captain facing the wrath of the fans on his chuffing knees. My heart bled.

Well the team got you back didn't they??.....and those that left early??....it ain't over until the fat lady sings and you should know being latics fans she normally is screaming her head off when it all happens in that 90 plus minutes. I am not the world's biggest Grean fan, but the man stands there at the end of each game an claps the fans regardless if he and the team have had a good day/bad day and is usually the last man off

FFS, get behind your team, yes they are going to drop some howlers and our defence did, but we also need to score goals too

I love to sing our teams praises, I love to stand up when I can too to do it, but to sing how crap we are???.....NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. dont know how you can say the first was his fault at all we should have had a man on the post fair enouh he would be playing everyone onside but we wouldnt have conceded the goal secondly ruebens fault not brills he got a hand to it just not strong enough dont forget he has just moved from london must be difficult for the lad not sayin he is the best keeper we have had but lets get behind him

I agree, lets not turn on one player its a team effort at the end of the day and I am concerned at the sheer lack of fire powe up front myself...

  12. Okay, Okay...I agree with most of the valid points on here and regardless of how good/awful we were, we have played 4 league games an lost one. yes one......

We can have as many individual scapegoats but its a bloody team effort at the end of the day an what concerns me more is our sheer lack of thought when we get into that last third of the pitch, no-one wants the ball and they all act like a "rabbit in the headlights" when they get it...."you want it???...no...you have it..."..don't give it to me please...." I was soooo happy when at least Whittaker had a shot in the second half I could have kissed the man for effort.

We lose shape and there is no midfield general to get a grip and start dishing the ball out to the wings, no-one wants to back a player up when he surrounded by the opposition,no-one wants a shot on goal when we are anywhere near that penalty box, and again on corners, no-one on the "d to mop up either.

Letting poor goals in is bad however, we need to score some too an I can't see that happening much unless we get someone with a bit of bite in that midfield and can switch a brain cell on to pass it around a bit too.

    I am concerned...........

  13. Yep. On the list too. It's a long list.

The website's structure is in parts simple and effective and in parts frustrating and complex. As a result changing one area does not always change another, and so it's a matter of finding them myself (I spent 2 hours on Sunday last week going over ever page making notes) or having you good folks help me out.

    Thanks,

    Ste

Thanks Steve and Martin.Thought I had lost my one marble rolling around.

I can appreciate the anormity/complex it is web design and maintenance, however, its a bit bizzare not have the current team photo under the tab of "team". Especially if we want to encourage new fans, first point of contact to most potentials will be the internet and this can make or break a business.

A work of art in progress eh......I would not have a clue on how to do it so I tip my cap to you and the team who do a great job on the site as well as this one too as it keeps us all in the know

    Keep it up...not that...tut..how rude!!!!!....lol

  14. The Oldham athletic sport in the community officer John Platt (ex oldham goalkeeper) helped me out for a 5 week work placement several years ago now! He seemed more than happy to have an extra pair of hands to help run football coaching sessions around local schools. Try and get hold of him!

Bloomin eck!!!...is he still going???...I remember a junior school scoring a penalty against him on a sat fun day. hey, I still have the certificate too. Well done John, keep going.

  15. Why on the official website are we still showing the team photo from season 08/09 year????

Where's he new 1st team photo?. You have the names on roll call but no piccies, yet the new reserve team photo is on - minus names???

glitch??? Or am I not driving this laptop right? I have gone to the "team" tab in the centre of the screen and the stats seem to be correct for this season too.

Any ideas where the 1st team piccie is?

Hey maybe we could have a "spot the team photo on the website..." competition.

Found it, I win!!!!!!!!!!!!.....Fancy that, its under the "match tab" then gallery"...really logical that is...doh!!!!!!

  16. Get a grip everyone....new set up, new team... its gonna take to time to bed down.

Bloomin eck...two games in, one league, one crap cup.

Get behind your team for chuffs sake...tearing up season tickets already on another thread.....ye gods!!!!!!

Constructive critism yes I can deal with but do we really need these sorts of fans all "doom and gloom" already?

    Tut....

  17. And if you get caught then just the same excuse that i use when the wife walked in the bedroom.......

I thought i saw a spider in my lap so i was just trying to brush it of.

Or the old......Its mine and i will wash it as fast as i like.

Oh how the topic of conversation/thread turns into the gutter....or is that our team.....things can only get better surely (for the team that is...)

  18. This is getting worryingly like that episode of CSI where they had the 'Furry Convention'.
