Originally Royton, then 6 years in London, now Mossley.

Very disappointed last night - Brizzle were there for the taking and on another night we'd have won that game.
First goal was a stupid one to concede. Lambert picks up the ball about 30 yards out, and everyone back off him! Why?! Then he shoots and Crossley gets nowhere near it - not like it was in the top corner or anything - looked very saveable from where we were stood. Second goal was bog standard flick on/tap in from corner - probably should have dealt with it, but hard to see who exactly was at fault.
If we'd have scored at the start of the second half we'd have had a good chance of getting something. Ormerod would have scored if he'd made more contact with the ball rather than fluffing it. They nearly scored an own goal with a back header, and Reuben should have buried his header.
Most of our threat came from the flanks. Balls through the middle tended to be to the head of Hughes/Ormerod and they didn't have much joy. With Allott/Whitaker not picking up many scraps outside the area it meant Brizzle could usually clear the danger with ease. I thought Eardley might come on for Whitaker playing centre mid, but he's obviously out of favour at the moment.

The only problem being that Blackthorn is up there with the worst of the ciders.
Wet? Yep
Cold? Probably
Contains alcohol? Yep
Cheaper than usual? Yep
Looks good to me!

Bit of a celebration tomorrow apparently, as they're reopening a stand.
For as long as stocks last, we will be giving away lots of Blackthorn merchandise, which will include promotional t-shirts and baseball caps. And, to cap it all, we will be selling Blackthorn Cider at a special promotional price in the bars around the ground. <--- From the Rovers site
I mailed an official at their club to see if away fans could get some of this cheap booze:
We will allow away fans in the main Clubhouse bars for tomorrows game . This is where the promotions will be taking place ! Get there early it is very popular down here !
Woo hoo!

I told my mate at Port Vale to get on the phone re Thompson. Too bloody slow again!
How many minutes will Thommo play before getting injured?
My money is on 34.

£30,000 now
£10,000 after 15, 30, 45, 60 games
£25,000 if we go up in the next 2 seasons and Stephens has played in half our games
(So a potential £95,000)
20% sell-on fee
"We are relatively happy considering the initial demands we received from Bury," he said. "I suppose out of the two parties, they will be the more disappointed."
Happy with that - much better than the Porter decision.

Booked mine in the Pop stand over the phone this afternoon - they'll post them out, but apparently won't sell to anyone with an Oldham postcode. Had to get my dad (lives near Scunny) to book them.

My bday is Sept 14th. Some highlights: winning 2-0 at Forest (12/09/06), dubbing Mansfield 6-1 (14/09/02), losing 3-2 at Hudders on a Friday night (13/09/96)

you're an embarrassment to Oldham Athletic if you do either.
cringe.
Haha - thanks for your input

i will be drawing my letter to tranmere up on monday about this incident as i did not apreciate having to try and texplain to my 7 & 11 yo daughters why he had done it as it happend right infront of us on the front row
very immature actions from the guy if you ask me and a poor rection to some light jeering for his poor play
Better off sending it to the football league maybe? I might mail Alan and see what he suggests.
-
I did indeed see that, although only out of the corner of my eye. He was a dirty bastard all game and certainly responded to what I would have thought was no more than to be expected from us with a bit of HOOFery.
I was quite surprised when he gave us a quick clap at full time too.
-
Towards the end, as Shotton (the mixed race centre back, #26) was trying to clear, he was getting a bit of grief from the blues to the left of the stand (as you looked at the pitch), "hooof" and all that. Promptly turned round to the crowd and gave us the 'v' - for a good few seconds.
Stupid sod didn't realise there was a tv camera in that part of the stand, which *must* have caught it.
Do we report it?

HOOF
I love Shez's quote in the Chron:
Ronnie is old enough and experienced enough to let it go over his head when people give him stick – if anything he’ll enjoy that side of the game.
Comedy!

If anyone wants to draft something to publish on the Supporters Direct email list regarding this matter, feel free to PM me and I'll post it there.

Cracking result that. We're still top of the league!
2nd to Leicester

If this is true then it's very sad (see my post on the other thread) but don't tar all Leeds fans with the same brush.....they've got their fair share of idiots, but so have we.
All we need to say:
-
i heard one today sung to the 'hey baby' tune, couldnt make out the words though, just his name. anyone on here know what it was?
Singing today:
Oh Chrissy Taylor,
You are the love of my life,
Oh Chrissy Taylor,
I'd let you shag my wife,
Oh Chrissy Taylor,
I love ginger hair tooooooo...

Appleby's red in the 1-7 to Cardiff.
-
It not about playing games with the away fans??
Its about signing and getting behind the boys ?
Is it bollocks. If it was all about getting behind the team, the majority of the singers would sit in the middle of the stand, and try and get the whole stand rocking, rather than sitting as close to the opposition fans as possible and singing songs to them all night.
-
I welcome the need to maximise the income by accommodating as many away fans as possible but I'm glad i will be at the opposite end, the one the team like playing towards. perhapos someone didn't tell the players that the chaddy is no longer the home end?
I think the players like playing towards the Chaddy as playing that way they're going downhill, rather than uphill.
-
you might be ahead of me on this but I thought the Latics game tomorrow was applause not silence.
Yep - I meant it was good to see the conference games were doing silence, as opposed to our applause.
-
Good to see it being a minute's silence too, rather than the awful minute's applause.
-
Friend of mine is a county fan and tells me the game at their place is likely to be moved to the Friday night, as Sale rugby have a home game on the Saturday which is going to be televised.
-
You can sign another 100 players, but if they aren't in the positions you need then you still have a problem.
What - you mean 115 midfielders won't take us up?!?
Where is Scunthorpe?

A few of us were chuckling last night as some were singing the Gregan song to Norm:
"How many pies,
Had Crossley had?
How many pies had Crossley had?
He had a w*nk in a chippy,
How many pies had Crossley had?"
Chinese whispers at it's finest I suspect.
