I will continue clinging to the faintest flicker of hope that our season is still alive till it's mathematically impossible to reach the play-offs, at which point, assuming I can find something better to do on match day, I'll do a Garcon and miss my first game home or away since the last meaningless one.
Don't think I'll be there either. Half way through a nice bout of flu (blame the wife, she's a teacher and regularly brings bugs home from school), and I doubt that 2 hours at Ice Station Zebra is what I need right now.

Spot on Lags. I'll remember that afternoon for a very long time. Everton, West Ham, Derby, Man City etc.. all wonderful days, but that afternoon of April 24th 2004 showed that despite everything we had been through in the previous 10 months Oldham Athletic were alive and kicking. The pandemonium and unbridled joy after JJ made it 2-0 had to be seen to be believed. There weren't many of us there but we didn't half make a rackett!
Sends shivers down my spine remembering that.
Also remember singing 'going up with Ronnie Moore' there after 2 wins out of 2 at the start of his full season here!

I think the only truly original song we have is the Zigga Zagga one
Which Doncaster were singing on Easter Monday!

Everton/Leeds are joint best.
Worst... Southend at home against 10 men. Dire.

You can not beat the classic that is:
"I'm a ,
I'm a ,
I'm a yes I am,
But I'd rather be a
Than a Yorkshire, Welsh, Scouse* man."
*delete or change as appropriate
I always preferred that when we sang 'than a dirty Yorkshire man' - worked much better imo.

What songs sung at BP do you particularly like/dislike.
Of course there are the typical favourites like OWTB, Zigga-zagga, etc.
My personal favourite though is the 'Oldham. You got me wonderin' song - dunno why, just love it. Was particularly good as we were beating Bournemouth, as most of us were indeed wondering what would happen wrt this season (even if the subsequent loss and two draws have ruined it!).
I hate the 'Everywhere we go, people want to know' song. Rubbish. We're not at the cricket. Sung by the guy who looks like Johnny Vegas in the chaddy. Really can't stand it.

True. There's a balance to be struck. Too much publicity might get the wrong reaction. But too little encourages the rumour mongers that he's not doing anything (except pissing it up the wall in Saddleworth... allegedly)
I've seen him out in Saddleworth a few times, and he's not been drinking anything stronger than lemonade (unless it's a pint of vodka which I'm mistaking for lemonade!).
Doesn't mean he isn't drinking on other occasions, but thought it was worthing giving another side to the story.

Leyton Orient have given up too, by the looks of it. And they have 1 more point than us.

Nobody has pilloried Davies for having a shot at goal. He was called greedy for not looking up and seeing a player in a better goal scoring position.
That's not because he's greedy, that's because he's thick.

I think you've got to be looking at at least a 20 man squad, with cover in each position.
GK = Crossley/A.N.Other
DR = Eardley/Lomax
DL = A.N.Other/Lomax
DC = Gregan/Hazell/Stam/Thompson
wingers = Taylor/Livermore/A.N.Other/Smalley
MC = Allott/McDonald/Jarrett/Livermore
SC = Hughes/Davies/Lewis/Smalley/A.N.Other
Which gives you 20 assuming we sign Jarrett and Livermore (don't think we will) plus 4 others.

Perhaps-but the impossible situation the club is in has only become apparent for many (it would seem from the falling gates), quite recently. Attendances rose under Chris Moore and remained modestly higher than they had been in the Ritchie days until relatively recently. This would seem to indicate that a lot of people still had faith in the notion that the club might still achieve something. I did myself.
Apparently there was an interesting discussion on Five Live recently regarding the initial setting up of the Premier League. We were cited as one of the strongest voices calling for all money raised by tv revenues etc to stay within the Prem, and not get distributed throughout England.
It was suggested that we now might be regretting that stance a little...!

from what iv read about him, he can play attacking midfield, upfront or wide right. And also a quality free-kick taker and crosser of the ball!
Left back it is then!

under shez were playing some exciting football! I havent seen this sort of football in quite a while
When did we last play this 'exciting football' you speak of?

Get = Disappointment
Want = Width

In the hotline section, it says we are ready to cash in on taylor and eardley if the right offers come along.
Now i know its only paper talk but, with the right money, would you sell both/one/none?
IF all/most of the money was to be put back into re-building the squad id be tempted.
thoughts please?
KTF
Sell both, if we get offers of over 250k each.

We are getting stronger season by season
Really believe that?
-
Were you one of the ones in the Chaddy who cheered when he went off injured?
-
Results could have been a lot worse today.
Same old latics though, isn't it? Keep us wondering, but inevitably throw it away.
-
Dammit - imagine if we'd have beaten Hartlepool!
-
Also, Ian Walker? I'd rather play Josh Bell than a 36 year old who hasn't played football since May 2006. He'd probably be unfit and very rusty, I'd rather just play our kid.
Good point - Andy Goram anyone? (shudder)
-
Kasper gone to Cov on loan. Damn you Coleman...
-
If they allow season tickets for the RRE, me and my dad will consider the move from the Chaddy. A lot will depend on the price, mind.
ST Prices confirmed

Quite happy with the announcement. Pretty sure I'll be able to convince my old man that it's for the best, and we'll both move to the Rocky from the Chaddy.
