Here's a novel thought, how about rejecting all bids and using him to push on the next few years and help him grow? The short mindines on this board is astounding at time, we just want to sell as soon as there's a sniff. We have a new owner so let's try changing mindset and be a bit more positive. Especially once this seasons done!

We tried doing that with Mellor. We ended up getting nothing and now he’s “playing” in America...

Bring a few into the first XI every season, sell a few, keep a few

Nixon tweets that Brighton are likely to put a bid in for him.

This is why I’ve never understood Latics not playing their youths more.

If we gave Edmundson, Hamer, Mantack, Stott all 10+ games at this level, and they had steady games throughout... all of a sudden it promotes an interest.

All of the above with 10/15 games under their belt in League One would be of interest even without being spectacular, to teams above and we could command a fee.

Even Dave Mellor nearly went for 300k to Fulham, it just makes perfect business sense to give them that time at least.

  3. I saw Chesterfield play earlier in the season against Notts County... they won quite comfortably against a side in the top 3 at the time.

They played heilliant football theoughout the game and looked a class above league 2... genuinely shocked they’ve been relegated, thought they’d have enough about them to stay up at minimum.

  4. So you’ve essentially put Fane in the midfield and that’s it... post above. No way he drops Gardner.

For all his faults, I like Gardner but he ain’t gonna get us out of this league he’s your typical inconsistent league one midfielder. He’ll graft his bollocks off and more often than not have a 7/10 performance but he gets in very valuable positions only to misplace a pass or put it out of play or shoot 20 yards wide of goal, so frustrating but he’s a certain to start in our squad.

Gardner Fane Pringle as central midfield 3, Pringle and Gardner able to cover right and left flanks.

Byrne in front with no defensive duties past the halfway line but needs to be used to press the opposition defence because he’s good at that getting in their faces.

  5. Personally agree with I think SJK’s team...

    4-3-1-2

    Placide

    Hunt Edmundson Gerrard Moimbe

    Gardner Fane Pringle (midfield 3)

Byrne (solely there to create and press further up the pitch)

Davies and Doyle (doing what they did so well at the start of their partnership)

    Wins a win.

Byrnes attitude fucking stinks, I know he will feel aggrieved because he is being asked to do something he doesn't want to at times but his lack of respect and more importantly professionalism is a sad sight, talent is unquestionable but its not difficult to see why many a manager won't entertain him.

I’d prefer his attitude to Danny Philliskirks... “I’ll play anywhere gaffer, put me right back, put me right mid, put me striker and I’m happy” because that got us sweet fa.

He came on today fired up and fuming he had been dropped, changed the game.

Although, it’s a travesty that it’s took Wellens 6 weeks to change to a 4-2-3-1 formation when we’ve been so lacklustre in the previous shape for so long.

Been said previously, but playing Byrne right midfield is absolutely criminal and it’s took him weeks to change shape, signs of bad managing but I’m willing to give him chance he’s definitely still learning

Much needed win and I think we’ll be just OK now. Happy days.

  7. He was extremely good in the youths, and stood out massively doing pretty much what he went on to do for us in the first team.. gliding out of the back 4 so comfortably with the ball and pretty dominant in the air. One thing I noticed very early on into playing in the first XI was how he was ordering everyone about and we needed that.

  8. One thing that did used to piss me off about him, was his obsession with running through the middle, losing control of the ball and ending up conceding a free kick from a lunge...

but other than that I used to bloody love watching him play, and came home from a youth game saying we had a decent polish lad at the back who’s worth keeping an eye on. Turns out he’s English, turned out he was from Moston... similar I suppose.

  9. Is there a Brian Wilson fan club yet? What a hero.

Glad he quite clearly heard his chant from my group of lads after the game, showing his appreciation to it. Probably one of the most ‘proffesional’ footballers I’ve watched in my time. Albeit I’m only 21..

Very very very rarely puts a foot wrong.

I digress, we were awful Saturday and we’ve got some massively cunty fans but on the whole we know how to make an atmosphere... Rochdale will be cracking and might have something riding on it now with their upturn in form.

Aiden_Latics predicted every game at the start of the season (seemingly 1-1 (0-0) Clarke). Stevesidg regularly predicts games a month in advance and Singe has just predicted every game until the end of the season.

It might not get you a decent score every game but it’s a tactic to at least get you points every game. If you don’t remember to edit your prediction. It certainly is useful if you know you are going to be away for a few weeks.

If you predict every game for the rest of the season from now, you might not stave off relegation but you won’t be as bad.

Wise words, will take that advice on board.

I don’t understand this love-in for the Blackburn following really. It’s not that impressive to take 2300 to a ground we’ve not been to in 30 years and who are supposedly many fans biggest rival. We used to take that year on year to Huddersfield...

    The atmosphere.. not the following.

  12. Plymouth have fuck all else to do. They may aswell travel away... closest club/competition for their support is 50 miles away.

Within 50 miles of us we have City, United, Liverpool, Everton, Leeds, Huddersfield and the list goes on and on and on.

I’m up for Bury on Sat; but I’m sick of seeing numbers. Just wanna enjoy the day for what it hopefully will be... oh and it’s my 21st so they best pull their finger out and gat the win!!!
