Right i bumped into him at the services (Heartshead Moor) totally by chance, ironically on the day i read on that reliable site we were in the market for him so i asked him straight were Oldham in the running for his signature (i was wearing an OAFC coat at the time too) and he said virtually it was a done deal, may have been lying to fob a fan off but he seemed genuine (our location, club ties in with everything the Carlisle manager said about him leaving), as for the hold up i think its because someone is coming in for Furman i dont think its a reluctance on his part to go Portugal more likely the clubs finances preventing him from going Portugal unless a player is sold so therefore a seat and ticket is free. Hope this sheds some light on why i am so confident he will be in a Latics shirt next season, and no i dont have an inside informer like everyone else.

I am not implying they are lying just painting a picture of doom and gloom on the financial side when IF the right is available then money is available, after all 2 players have turned down bigger clubs to come to Oldham so we cant be offering peanuts, because as much as they want to play they aint gonna be scraping the barrel they do have to look after number 1 after all.... As for the balls bet, i would say Derby's average wage per player would be around 6/7k a week and even if Croft falls into the lower bracket and were paying 50/50 still a decent outlay.

But i think there is more in the coffers RE the playing budget than Corney and Dickov make out and the figures that our top earner will be on £1200 a week max is way off, now i dont know the details of Crofts deal in terms of wage sharing with Derby but id bet my left testicle he is on a lot more than £1200 a week as would Furman and Simmo be..... Interesting....

I think we know what we will get with Clarke, Eastwood on the otherhand is a proven poacher, with the occassional worldy in his locker id be happy with either to be fair but preference for the pikey...
