From our almost 40 man squad can anyone name a team who would all bust a gut playing in the game against Notts County at BP?

Surely that’s the job of the manager. To get players in the office, point out that his need is for players with the pride to show us how good they are. To have the heart to work harder when we aren’t doing well, and who want the opportunity to play regularly in the first team and resurrect their careers which are rapidly disappearing down the toilet.

The rest should be sent to go get a physical job that won’t tax their brains to much.

They didn't try to kill the club, and i'm only defending the nonesense that we were days from going under. It's bollox that.

So Pete, are you arguing that with the small home gates the club was showing prior to Shez, and without any finance from AL that the books were being balanced?  I would suggests THAT is bollox.  Lots of clubs are loss making, but the owners will make up the difference. The club were hence within a short time of going under. One more decision from AL to refuse the pay up.

Liquidating the club would actually have helped Blitz to finish off the asset stripping. It wasn't in their interest to see the club go under and we had sold more than 1k season tickets so that's not true either. Remember they kept the club going through Covid with no gates at all and i know there was some grants but it wasn't much, think it totalled about £500k

    You are forgetting furlough.

I remember talking to the CEO at the time and being told the club finances were better after the Covid spell then they had been before, because of furloughing.

    All spot on.
but, we need some wins and soon or the new regime maybe presiding over a relegation of their own.

Hence the 1 month loan players in an attempt to be able to drop the players who will not put the effort in for DU. Hopefully soon we will have enough new contracted players, plus loan players, plus “players who care” from the old squad to mount a decent performance.

You could argue that DU knows they won’t play for him hence the 7 at the back hoping we will at least get a 0:0 draw.  When he has the right players, we know he wants to play 4,3,3. That day can’t come soon enough for me.

Christ don’t get me started on this, infuriating to say the least. Shit player loses the ball, said player runs after the ball and get applauded time and time again. Why not get a player that doesn’t continuously lose the bloody ball!

Maybe Because those players cost more then we can afford?

  6. One thing Shahed mentioned was the way he called for money to be spent to arrange activities and entertainment for fans on match days. He was just ignored he said.

I know the positive effect of a welcome from the club to fans on match day has been po pooed as having no effect on fan numbers by a certain person on here, but I suspect a lot would appreciate it. As I’ve mentioned before, a winning team brings a bigger crowd, a great experience keeps some of those coming back.

  7. Having met Shahed several times, we heard him really trying to be guarded and careful.  The real Shahed appeared a few times, the comments about the different valuations. However, despite being careful there were some very interesting comments that debunked the story that AL has fed us.

Didn’t we get told before that AL was having to find £200,000 every month? While that may be true during the first few months funding certain players at over £10,000pw, it certainly hasn’t been the case for the past 2 and a half years according to Shahed. He said AL was great at coming up with £50,000 at short notice, but Shahed also said he stopped contacting him much, presumably because he didn’t get the money he needed. Shahed seems to have recommended the EFL loan, so that wages would get paid.

I read that between the lines, things have been worse then Shahed has admitted.

Well, Corney wrote it all off at some point, which is what the club are claiming he couldn’t do - without permission from the council - but if the the £1.1m was the club’s money (effectively) and the £700k was the council’s (a grant) surely the council only have a right to say how their money should be spent / that it cannot be disposed of without their permission?

Shahed mentioned that procedures weren’t followed. He accepted Corney had the right to satisfy the Blitz debt by assigning ownership, just that he should have got prior approval from the Council. Surely there will be no legal case to reverse the agreement unless the council support the football clubs action?

I agree with this, is there a reason the OEC and those who run it are supported by the protest groups then?, as you say all sides are culpable and for the good of the football club shouldn't the boycotters be interested in starving all those involved with our demise of their monies? I still can't understand how one side is embraced yet the other is jettisoned, no doubt about it Abdallah has contributed to his own downfall but those on the other side come out with little credit and as I predicted much of it comes down to ego.

You could look no further then, one side come over at interview willing to answer questions and declaring themselves as fans wanting to help save the club, and the other won’t answer any questions and hates fans if they ask questions and has helped to destroy the football club we all love! Maybe?

Or are your opinions firmly fixed.

  10. Just thinking, I wonder if PTB should ask Shez if he would bring the team to play a friendly against a fan’s team as part of early season prep.

As a fan himself he may agree for this to happen and proceeds after expenses to go to the OASF funds.

BO should agree as ex OASF chairman and long time fan. (It would show his allegiances)

  11. IMO we/OASF, need to work out a system of fundraising which can work for our unique issues.

Making the fund raising specifically for purchasing the ground, would allow a system to be developed where the contributor ultimately owns a small share of an asset.  If we can have a system where the contributor to the fund, also has a promise of money back if no purchase ever happens, then I’m in for a 4 or possibly 5 figure sum.

I am not prepared to donate that amount with the possibility that it will not be spent for its intended use. I would not want it sitting in the OASF account being frittered away on helping a new owner fund a player or some other so far not invented reason.  If I am not unique and we have other fans willing to contribute even a small amount as long as they have some control and possible money back, we could quickly have a much more impressive amount to offer. It would really be nice to know what Blitz would accept from a fans buy out.

Buying a badge off our present owner is something I don’t want to contribute to, unless it is 1£.

The trust has not even begun to debate whether it should be trying to purchase the ground so don’t hold your breath.

Granted we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes with blitz etc but it baffles me that the trust has not asked fans whether it should be looking to raise funds to buy the ground, club or both (in part or full).

    Agreed.

It all baffles me.   Surely trying to buy the ground and the North stand would make the most sense as the money buys and asset rather then a badge.  If the club goes bump the Phoenix club has a safe home.

  13. 3 hours ago, PeteG said:

Nobody will be able to purchase the ground whilst there is dispute and potential legal case.

That shouldn't stop us as a fans co-op purchasing it, as long as we are prepared to take the risk.  It should bring the price down as we would be taking the risk on.

The council should be happy because the community would now own the new stand that they contributed to building, hence the risk goes away.

  14. Could we have something on the new OASF website which allows us to quickly deposit “ticket” money which we would otherwise have given to the club. A dedicated and easy to find (pop up maybe) link to buy your “not” match ticket.

I think those of us who are boycotting and would otherwise be at the match may be happy to pop that money in the “fund” every fortnight.  Make it interesting by showing the total amount donated for each match.

(PS. It would be a wind up for Mo to see how much money they are not receiving at the turnstiles 😶)

  15. For Michael Beach to be promoted to Operations Manager from Club Secretary and then just disappear from the club list of officials with no mention of a “thank you for all your hard work” is a bit strange to say the least. Do we think he has walked or fallen out and been sacked?

    Heck of an assumption.

Physios move on . Career progression etc

When Jimmy McGregor left from being Latics’ physio to go to Old Trafford was that down to “relationships “?

It is a key role , but I’d want to know for certain why it’s becoming vacant rather than jump to your conclusion.

Is it such a big assumption?  One of our 2 physios from last year up and leaves to go to Blackpool as second physio, so the only "career progression" is a different club at similar level.  The Doctor who has been there 30 years leaves, I'm guessing not to a "career progression" and our present head of Physiotherapy, so you don't go upwards from that, leaves to take another job, probably at a different club, ie one which will treat him better.

I think the assumption was a reasonable one.
