has Pav scored* yet?
I loved Pav. He scored four times as many goals as anyone else in the team that season, and we sold him for £20K to Charlton...

MacAnthony's expecting a few quid for Clarke-Harris this month isn't he, so I wouldn't be surprised.
Didn't realise Bristol Rovers had agreed an £800k deal for JCH in the summer but ran out of time to complete it.
Where've they got that sort of money from?!

I wouldn’t be touching Mancini until the close season, a young player who has played 8 games of professional adult football, and has just had 4 months out with a hamstring injury, so it must have been a significant one, is not worth signing from a club in the same division.
If he has played in the majority of Hartlepool’s game between now and April, then I would certainly consider him in the summer. Little point in signing a player to improve our chances of making the playoffs, which we are only out of on goal difference, if he isn’t going to play in enough games. Especially when we already have a midfielder who is on his day top quality in this division but he can’t stay fit.
Mancini was released by Burnley without playing a game 18 months ago. It then took him eight months to find a club (Accrington) before he was released by them four months later having played two games.
I'm not saying he isn't a talent, but that record doesn't immediately strike me as that of a world-beater...

It was in front of the dugout, but it wasn't Grealish...
It was Kieron Freeman, I think... back when he used to be on the pitch from time to time.

In the olden days I worked for British Railways on Christmas day. After cycling 5 miles I got there at 5:30 and made the waiting room fire. It was a pleasure to serve the public. These have no idea.
Must have been the best part of 60 years ago, because Christmas Day services had all but vanished by the mid-1960s. Times change (though admittedly, not always for the better).

The fact is some don't want to be there, it mirrors how they play during a match.
We might see a few changes tomorrow and some gone in January.
I'd be worried if they did want to be there rather than at home with their families on Christmas Day... but it's part of what you sign up for as a professional footballer, I'm afraid.
Don't begrudge them moaning about it, though - as most of us probably would if we were asked to work on Christmas Day. But a bit naive to post it on social media in the circumstances.

Just cold hard facts. We’re getting schooled by the mighty footballing institution that is Gateshead at home.
They don’t have it in them. I don’t see much point in attending many more fixtures for this season.
Oh, I don't know. I'm sure we'd all miss your insightful and balanced analysis after the game...

Jamie Bowden still available on a free after leaving Spurs in the summer...

It also seems odd that Josh Lundstram was National League Player of the Season last year, but is now part of the worst midfield in the division.
What's gone wrong there?
Even Jude Bellingham would struggle alongside Sheron and McGahey...

We have done better when both have played. If just looking at how we do when Gardner plays our PPG is even higher (but we’d still be 4th).
My point is that we can do better than both Gardner and Freeman. If we were to make signings in those positions I think it would make a huge difference to the level of control we have in games. Imagine having a midfielder who can dictate play and pop up to score goals in the box. Imagine having a right wingback who overlaps and is someone a defence has to be concerned about. They couldn’t triple up on Kitching and a rwb too.
Yep, agreed. But instead we've signed Langley and Stones... arguably the two positions we least need to strengthen in (centre-half excepted, perhaps).
-
Sheron, Hogan, Sutton all hopeless. McGahey tried but isn't really a midfielder. Moore looked completely out of his depth.
Stones worked hard first half, and Norwood did what he does. Lundstram at least shows for the ball, has some technically ability, and tries things - was surprised he was taken off (unless he was injured).
Not a chance of promotion with a midfield three of Lundstram, Sheron and McGahey, I'm afraid...
Credit to Gateshead though - they were good and fully deserved to win.

Jake Forshaw has returned from his loan at Guiseley.

Seems to have struggled to cement a place in the team in all three of his loans - Colne, Farsley and now Guiseley.
Shows that the step up from youth level is still quite a big one.

It's interesting to see the apparent gulf in class between the NL and the NLN and NLS at present.
Last year's relegated teams (Scunthorpe, Yeovil, Torquay, Maidstone) currently sit 1st, 1st, 2nd and 4th in the NLN / NLS.
Last year's promoted teams (Ebbsfleet, Oxford, Kidderminster, Fylde) sit 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th in the NL.
Slightly surprised me - I'd always sort of assumed that the bottom end of the NL and the top end of the NLN / NLS were much of a muchness.

Southend could only name one substitute yesterday.
Think they released a couple of players in the week too. Doesn't sound great?
Their keeper got injured during the game too - the one substitute wasn't a backup...

Surely there’s only Cookson that is “earning rave reviews “ in a “ higher league” than Micklover? And that’s a loose interpretation of “rave “ review.
Cookson is playing two leagues below Mickleover - Northwich Vics are in the Midland League...

Check out the Academy media pages which lists how they are are all doing on loan.

You are right, many of the team are past it or injury prone and Mickleover ran rings round us.
Chesterfield played a lot of Academy players in beating Southport 6-1, there seems a reluctance here to give our youth even a place on the bench, a youth team incidentally which is producing good results against EFL teams and some on loan earning great reviews at clubs in higher leagues than Mickleover.
I can say I've seen couple of them (a strong mobile striker and a dynamic winger) who'd be
breath of fresh air.
MM has given enough chances to those who repeatedly let him down so now is the time for fresh blood to be introduced.
Which players are these, out of interest?

Should really have just called it off yesterday... was clear it was always going to be a big risk that the pitch wouldn't be playable - so for the benefit of the fans, players, club officials, caterers etc. etc. surely it would have been more sensible?
