  1. counthill school was a suggestion made weeks ago, which was debated today, what do you mean being retained?

the site is being kept by the Council, it isn't being sold off when the School closes. Well, the playing fields are being kept, the part of the site where the School is, perhaps would be sold, but that wouldn't be big enough for a stadium, plus the land around there is up and down....in fact, perfect for a ski slope!

  2. Can I take the opportunity to welcome the mothers of Keiron Lee and Joe Colbeck to the Forum?

In fairness, it was Colbecks best game in a Latics shirt......although who voted for him at MOTM? C'mon own up?!

  3. It would be in Oldham though. Unlike the proposed Failsworth site. That's a biggy for many of us, in case you haven't noticed.

Granted, it would be next door to Failsworth, Manchester...but it would still be in Oldham and, more to the point, closer to our heartland than the proposed Failsworth site which is actually almost Moston/Newton Heath AND a lot closer to COMS...not that the proximity to COMS is bothering me.

So where is this mystery 30-acre site in Hollinwood thats the answer to our prayers?

  4. Also pre-supposes that if he is desperate to sell that nobody would be in a position to offer him more than us. It's just so easy to point at any piece of land and say, "I want that one."

exactly, did no-one believe Corney when he said that they'd identified and dismissed numerous sites? Ian Hill (surveyor) is on the board, I think I'd believe his reasoning for discounting a site rather than some know-it-all on here spouting their mouth all in the name of 'having a debate'. Did anyone take up Alan Hardy's offer to email him, if anyone could find a 30-acre site in Oldham? No? Well that answer's the question.....

Unless the Council / Latics are gunna start CPO-ing land a la Derker, a 30-acre site isn't gunna come forward very often. And even then, I suspect it wouldn't make financial sense.

  5. Serious question: How many households are diectly affected by the site for the proposals which have not yet been drawn up?

About 50 - tops....those on Broadway and Park Avenue only. The only sensible comments I've seen have been on the Oldham Chronicle website by "The Watcher"...he obviously can pick away the Chron bull to understand that the Council will only consult at planning stage. This is just common practice - or do the Failsworth residents want special attention. Muppets.

  6. it was me who mentioned the Counthill school, golf course sites, cant think of anywhere else around here

counthill school is a huge site, an access road could be built where the ski slope is onto Ripponden Road

What, you mean Counthill School which is being retained in part for the new School which is going on what used to be Orb Mill?

What you mean the golf course which is owned by the company that did all the tipping and has rubbish transport links and probable issues with contamination?

  7. Ok here the reasons why I am not currently going, some down to the club some down to wider problems...

    • Cost :- food, drink, travel, ticket into game is about £50+ for me per game
    • Decision to sack Shez with 7 games to go pissed me off no end. Spent all season offering my support and then when it came to the crunch the board lost its bottle. Can I be arsed supporting the team/manager for another season to watch us sack another manager at the wrong time.
    • Atmosphere is dead
    • Our fans are messirable. Too much infighting regarding standing / sitting and no interest in coming to a happy solution. THis is all regardless of the law. Im talking about not getting a ST near the away fans if you dont want people standing in front of you. Simple stuff. By the way, I sit to the right as I bring a kid when I come and dont want people stood in front of me. Just feel there is no unity in the fans anymore.
    • Food at the ground. Runs out barely fives mins into half time leaving me hungry
    • Fan on the board / trust situation is nothing short of pathetic
    • Feel like we are being rail roaded into a move to failsworth which has not been proved to be the best option.
    • My friends dont go anymore

I think mainly its about the game day experience. Its not worth the money any more. I dont walk away thinking I had a good day out.

5000+ posts on an internet fan forum and you don't go anymore....you only have to go into the chat room for an average home game to realise that half of this forum is sat at home in front of their computer rather than going to the game. Maybe that's the problem, people think it's easier just to sit in front a computer and become a cyber armchair fan. Man United fans have shown us the way and we're now all following.

And for my two penneth, I think more revenue would be generated if they don't just open the bar at bang on HT and shut the bar as soon as the second half starts. I can remember a couple of seasons back at Elland Road, when I had a crap seat beneath pitch level, when I spent the entire second half in the concourse bar watching the game on the TV. And I'm kidding when I say there was at least another 50-odd fans in there all spending money. Maybe this will happen in the new stadium......who knows??!

  8. Pav, Porter was :censored:. Luckiest striker I've ever seen.

I wouldn't disagree with that. If I was 6'3 and had as many balls into the box and outright chances to score, I'm pretty sure I would have bagged over 20 goals. Porter was okay, but certainly not as skilfull (or as lethal) as Abbott has looked. Porter was a penalty box man, with an average ability to hold the ball up.

  9. If it hadnt of been for his goal, I'd have struggled to have picked from....:censored:

I just don't see that. Anyone who thinks Whittaker ghosts in and out of games should have a proper look at :censored:. He's got a decent future in the game, but he certainly shouldn't be in the centre of midfield. Don't want to make scapegoats, but the upsurge in form has a lot to do with :censored: being replaced with the legs of Furman. With Furman and Whitts, at least we have the legs to be up and down and involved, something we've missed since Wellens who did a hell of a lot of running and constantly demanded to be involved....
