Reading your post suggests you know Barry well. Most people who despise him haven't ever met him. Much rubbish has been written however I know him personally and whilst a lot of venom has been directed towards him much of which might be true I can tell you all he loves O.A.F.C. He may be opinionated and made errors but he would give his last breath for the Latics. So everybody just chill and amuse yourselves with his tweets. He's no longer a director but he still loves the club.

Barry talking about himself here as Diggleblue, is all very weird…

  2. I was certainly critical early doors but the fact he is now coming out claiming crosses and taking pressure off the back line, releasing the ball quicker to start attacks and his kicking is improving you can’t fault his progression. Fair play, GK spot certainly isn’t an issue at present.

Gateshead's Stephen Wearne has signed for MK Dons.

He looked very useful for them last month, will be a blow for their playoff bid.

Lost their GK (Mair), Forward (Wearne), Main midfielder (Chadwick), RWB (Lofthouse) and two squad players in the last week. They certainly won’t be the same team we faced now.

Not got a pot to piss in? Thought Frank had made £5 million available around the turn of last year? Not even Darren and his mate Unsy have done that in already, surely?

Thats the budget across the three years wasn’t it? You know setting budgets and doing things properly… Pretty sure that was how it was addressed. Abdallah would have rinsed that in a few weeks with Menig, Maouche etc.

How is your mate Abdallah, “Pete”?

  5. I think Norwoods movement today was fantastic. Didn’t see loads of the ball but when he did it created space and chances. He doesn’t need to do a lot in a game but will score goals that is why he has to play.

Gardner, Lundstram, Green when he came on and the two CB were superb.

Much improved performance, took us a while to get into the game which may show us we need to be a tad more patient as a fan base. With a few additions of quality there is no doubt we can jump up that table.

All part of good teams - like Norwood has been when he's scored his goals.  We're not a good team at the moment and unfortunately having someone who's sole attribute is the ability to finish (discounting yesterday, which contradicts this theory of Norwood..) is a bit of luxury.  We need someone who can come deep and do some of the dirty work too at the moment and Norwood doesn't do that IMO.

So bring someone in who doesn’t score a lot of goals just to contribute more doing things that doesn’t regularly contribute to scoring goals? I’m confused 😂

Think we are going to have to agree to disagree on this.

Altrincham?  I'd say that falls into the "on a plate" category..

I'm not really arsed about what he's done for other clubs.  It's a completely different kettle of fish here, where he's surrounded by lesser players and he's going to have to work harder.  As I say - I'm not arguing about his stats, but they don't tell the whole story.  With his supposed superior quality, you'd want to him to come up trumps when the team are struggling, not just when they're doing well.  Yesterday he had our only two golden chances and completely ballsed them up.

Pleased for him that he scored 20 odd goals for Tranmere, Barnsley, Real Madrid or whoever, but we're a poor team who will struggle for long periods most games and it isn't the same set-up as where he's been a success.  The minimum we should expect for such a highly rated player is for him to come up with the goods when things aren't going well and - yesterday for example - not only did he miss his chances when we needed him to score the most, he offered very little else to the team.

I - at the moment- think Fondop will cause the opposition more problems.  Sorry... 🤷‍♂️

None of our strikers would have played the one / two with the RB before repositioning themselves and driving it into the roof of the net, none of them have that calm head.

How many strikers with a decent record for us do you remember who did loads of running tracking back etc? Doesn’t happen. Beckett, Porter, Hughes all were limited but did things well and scored goals. Running around a lot doesn’t make you a good player.

His previous goals are relevant as he has produced year on year and is continuing to do so. I couldn’t care less how much running he does, if he continues to bag (which is his job) I’m happy and I’m sure the manager will be.

I’m in the middle with Norwood. He’d be in my team every week as he’s better than the other strikers we have, and if we created more chances he’d score more goals. But he has to do more.

I don’t get the ‘he’s our leading scorer’ argument in his defence either. The main striker should always be the top scorer, especially as he starts pretty much every game. Seven goals is nothing spectacular anyway. Look at the leading goalscorers list in our division, and there’s plenty on more than him playing for lesser teams.

We need to find a way to get the best out of Norwood, but he also has to get the best out of us.

I’m definitely in the Norwood in camp, but he must do better.

He will do better given better quality service. Our winger play currently is shocking yet he is still giving us a goal every two games. Better quality wing play with give him more chances and more goals.

And probably from close range as well.

Norwood wants everything on a plate. There are occasions where that isn't going to be possible and we need a striker who offers something else (especially when the chips are down) in my opinion.

Completely disagree with this. His goals against Accrington, Rochdale and Aldershot wernt ‘on a plate’ yet he buried them.

Genuinely can’t believe we are in a position where we are arguing over a Sunday league player hitting double figures three times in his career to a lad who hits double figures yearly and is on for 20+ if he continues his 1 in 2 ratio.

Yep, I hear what you're saying and I'm not arguing with the stats.

In a good team, he's probably the best finisher at the club (I say probably... any other player misses the two chances he missed yesterday and they get absolute pelters... unfortunately his previous reputation is of jack shit value to us now), but we're not a good team and we need someone who can do more than "just" finish.

So you would rather Fondop hold the ball up but not score half as many? I don’t get the logic in that. Norwood needs better quality next to him. Starting Reid for a few games like he has done Nuttall for me. His goals from previous clubs shows give him a run and he will score. Additions sadly needed all over.

This new model of recruitment hasn’t worked.

Come on - we both know you're better than that and can use proper words.

    The floor is yours...

Fondop has only reached double figures three times in his career. 11 last year and 10 the other times prior to that at the start of his career. Dropping Norwood for Fondop is ridiculous.

Norwoods feeding off scraps and still got a 1 in 2 ratio! Imagine what he could do with proper service!

How is the fan base trying to oust him?

a cop of people on here have questioned him, as is their right, whilst most fans are firmly behind him.

As usual, a few becomes everyone.

Not just on here I’m seeing it, a section of the fan base would be more accurate 👍

I keep wondering if his attitude is affecting team spirit, he appears to blame everyone but himself.

I’d have an attitude with the lack of service he is getting.

It’s utterly ridiculous a section of the fan base, are trying to oust a lad who’s got pedigree in this league, our top scorer and purely because he doesn’t run around a lot or smile loads. Give it a rest, utterly embarrassing.

I think he will need a bit of time to properly weigh up the squad, whilst I think your last bit is right the introduction of Nuttall in to the fray probably makes him feel a bit stupid, it certainly would have done if one of his defence splitters had put us 3-1 down.

I can't have it that he's happy with our wide men either, there must be better options out there.

Absolutely. Everyone will be getting a fresh start, they are all on trial, live time.

No chance he is happy with the wide men, I think Green is a good impact sub to run at back lines the last 10 when teams tire but nothing else currently he has let himself down abit recently. Hope does alright but again another that doesn’t provide enough in a game to make it count and to cause regular issues for a backline. Hopefully we will see some changes out wide.

My gauge is we shouldn’t be in Mid table, we should be challenging at the top of the league. Altrincham , after what I’ve seen after playing them twice, shouldn’t be above us, so I’m not celebrating a home draw.

Incremental changes we are talking about, given we haven’t brought anyone in yet. No one is celebrating a draw, just acknowledging a good performance. Let’s not forget we were unbeaten against a lot of the bottom dross with the most recent of those draws. Alty have some very good players. Conn-Clarke for starters. Linney when he returns is another good player.

  16. Some really strange reviews post game on here. Especially from @yarddog73

I thought we played well today. We played on the front foot, other than a 20 min spell Alty had. We didn’t resort to long hopeless balls, we stuck to a game plan which created chances and caused a lot of issues for Alty. If we had abit more composure from our wingers we would have won that comfortably. Massive improvement from Tuesday.

I’m not sure what people are expecting from Norwood. He’s a 33yr old striker currently with a 1 in 2 goal ratio. He’s not going to have loads of spells of quality in the game. But he gets a chance and finishes it. I want more players like him who expect better and don’t settle for average. If we had a few more like him we wouldn’t be where we are now.

I would be prioritising two wingers asap. If we sort our wide issues out I think it gives our CM/ forwards more space to cause more issues.

Freeman with clever RB quality for Norwoods goal.

McGahey organised the back line and constantly talked more than I’ve ever seen from Hogan. He looks to get the ball down and play quickly which also brought this out of Hobson. I appreciate early on he was sloppy but it got better, I would rather we took chances like that and played properly instead of route one.

Much improved but I think there is more to come.

two yellows so no just one match banned. but then the rest of the seson on the bench bc Raglan/Hobson is a L1 partnership at the minimum.

Don’t you get a game ban for being sent off and then trigger a second game with him hitting the 5th yellow card? Surely they don’t work as one?

He's the star man, presumably on star money and should be expected to show real leadership.  It would be daft to write him off and everyone can acknowledge that service has been lacking and that the structure has been wrong, but has he shown that yet?

A star man who will score given the service. He’s feeding off scraps at the minute, even his goal at Rochdale, none of our other strikers would have scored.

He isn’t the life and soul when playing as other clubs fans have confirmed about him but if that’s his personality so be it. We asked for a proven goalscorer and got one. Time to sort out our very weak midfield to provide him service and play to his qualities, and being made to play on his own isolating him because of our midfield frailties is hardly fair.

He was geeing up the lads after Rochdale scored their first and second goals and trying to calm the nobheads running on the pitch fighting, would suggest that is leadership?
