  1. Sky sports has just announced that Burnley are hoping to get a jump on the other teams looking at him by making a bid imminently...although highly unlikely that the price would be made public
  2. not heard the Swansea interest but Burnley are according to the rarely http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-features/10/oldham-athletic-news/83920/reds-track-tarky
  3. I really don't get this 'we need a centre half' we already have Tarky, Kusunga, Grounds, Mellor, Joksts, Belezieka (ok currently on loan), how many people do you need to find a reliable pairing?. My thought is that we need to give Chubs a few games and see if he can dominate his area on crosses to alleviate some of the panic. Yes the players do need a kick up the backside but what was missing on Tuesday was a leader/organiser and how many leaders are available on loan who could come in and instantly rectify this, personally I think this is a knee jerk reaction by LJ, no new loan signing is going to drastically change things.
  4. Here's a thought and it may be a stupid one but why don't Oldham Revolution radio cover our games, it would save on listening to eurythmics or erasure and it's OLDHAM? just a thought
  5. Well it looks like his location options are getting slimmer. On the rarely wrong today Date published: 27 September 2013 DEVELOPERS are now moving forward with plans for the Hollinwood area that includes the demolition of the gas holder. Reporter Robbie MacDonald gets the latest.
  6. On the OS is an article about the development centre that is run by the Community Trust. This is by no means a dig at what Martin Vose and the trust do but I know for a fact that since the centre has been running (Sept 2011) we have signed at least 5 players via this route onto the centre of excellence. If we have developed this many kids, why is it that the potential of said kids had not been spotted by our youth scouts? I understand the importance of developing kids at close quarters but how come we seem to be having an increasing level of through the development centre in recruiting than the traditional route of scouting, is scouting a dying breed? The only question i have over the development centre is the training schedule, most of the sessions are held at 5pm, are we not limiting attendance due to parents work commitments, ie could this be even more of a success?
  7. I think that due to the :censored:e we were in when the 3 amigo's came along we greeted them with open arms as saviours without really knowing anything about them, whereas with MK at least we know his ambition and business nowse. Who's to say back then that it wouldn't go tits up? It's taken a decade to get us to a point where we are financially stable and are showing signs of improvement (albeit slowly), personally I think it's the right time to build on SC's hard work and move us on to that next level (which SC can't afford) I trust SC's judgement and if he thinks MK is dodgy he'll definately tell him where to go, as has been stated he loves this club and has dedicated 10 years of his life to it so why would he not give a :censored:. Being realistic, whilst there would be a significant rise in attendances we would still be limited with the 60% of turnover wage bill cap, therefore unlike SSR we wouldn't immediately sign top notch players, it would still be a matter of probably a 5 year plan (not unlike Wigan). Personally I think it will happen, the question is when, I also think that if a deal is to be struck it will most definately be on SC's terms. KTF
  8. From the Doncaster OS Paul Dickov said this afternoon: “I made an offer to Jean before we travelled to Portugal but while we were away he said he was going to speak to Barnsley. I explained that if he did, I would not be proceeding with bringing him to the club, as I only want players who are 100% committed to Doncaster Rovers”. Paul has targets in other positions which he is concentrating on now ahead of the season. Is it just me or does this guy just seem to sprout the same :censored: every time he opens his mouth. At least Big Jean got a jolly out of him first ;)
  9. 2 from JCH, 1 from Rooney and the other from Joksts but squandered 4-1 lead in a 6 minute 4 goal spell. Maybe joksts needs a little more work at CB than thought??
  10. Thought the same when I read fishul but I think it's more likely that the PFA have to agree that the deal struck with Swindon is a no go and therefore he is entitled to move elsewhere, just a matter of seeking confirmation from both parties IMO, once that legality is done I still think the signing will happen
  11. Must still be a shock to Rogers though earnings wise, from Chelsea to Brighton to Oldham, daddy must be giving him his 'oddie'. Fair play to him though, it shows that he has the right attitude to be willing to put salary behind has hunger for playing for a team that is shaping up to be an exciting prospect which LJ has said from the start it's about the type of player.
  12. I still get the feeling that it won't be Baxter who is off but it will be Wes, I think LJ has taken a shining to Mellor and Smith as a partnership in the centre and Rogers is now their backup, anyone agree?
  13. Not at all Stevie, everyone as a latics fan is entitled to their opinion and i'm not saying that youngens opinion is questionable far from it, i've read many relevant comments from him prior to me registering, however as a relative newcomer to the site and having only posted a handful of times it strikes me that if you post, you get slated. whether it's a positive or negative comment your making you get slated, it's still relevant to you at the point of posting. My 'blind faith' is exactly that at this moment in time, but with all the changes and the close season and the stadium build is this not the time to have a little blind faith? new dawn and all that. Come mid season that blind faith may be justified or crucified but i'll face that when and if it happens
  14. I take your point, however with time on our hands and LJ at the helm i'm still confident that our team will be difficult to beat come the start of the season. IN LJ WE TRUST is the saying, if your not trusting that he can resolve the gaps then maybe it's your posts that should be ignored
  15. Good draw, be interesting to see us pit our wits against a higher opposition whilst the season is still in it's infancy. Think LJ would definately be up for this as he still has contacts at the club after his loan spell. I'd back us for a slim win 1-0 or 2-1. Come on the boys, Looking forward to start of season now with increasing optimism. Waiting still on CD, CM and CF news though oh and obviously GK...
  16. It wasn't a complaint as such, I just think that if we play too many sides that we are expected to beat and find it difficult it can hamper the confidence levels, also if we beat these sides quite comfortably, it could instill a similar lethargy at the start of the season to last year. I would like to see a balance of friendlies, the easier ones early and then getting progressively difficult, that way you start the season with a different mentality in trying to beat those better teams
  17. I know that pre season friendlies are supposed to be a period of cohesion and hopefully a confidence builder but come on, it says a lot that the 'best' team were pitting our wits against are the fake latics. Still, i'll probably be there anyway!
  18. Jesus they'll be playing my local pub team next!!
  19. On the OS, a link to vote for Once upon a smile to gain valuable funds towards their charity from DirectDebits, they are currently in 18th place with only 250 (ish) votes, it only takes a couple of seconds (according to the OS but you have to login using a facebook or google login?)
