I understand the issues with Fane's limitations. I don't understand the comments about him slowing the game down.
The Matrix effect. It's wierd. Shit happens but it happens in slow motion.

Although I think Fane is a runner disguised as a footballer I think Deyres42 has a point here. Fane has more attributes managers look for than Gardner. We signed Gardner on a free but had to pay £50k for Fane.
It's a sign of the culture in English football and that culture is why we've not done much internationally in 28 years.
£50 effing K?
They saw us bleeding coming.

If they were both contracted for the same length of time then Fane would attract the larger transfer fee.
There are plenty of 4th division clubs with a lunatic for a Chairman! You might be right-for the first time ever!

Gardner became ball winner? You having a laugh. Up their as one of the biggest shithouses in this awful team.
Gardner got relegated with chesterfield and that is the standard we are at.
Dont think I have ever felt so confident on relegation when our players aren’t even willing to change for a 50/50. Byrne jumped out of the way every time one came to him last night. No wonder the crowd were on their backs.
And you probably stand up and clap and cheer as Fanny stumbles past a couple of half challenges before falling over on top of the ball.
Gardner in centre mid winning the ball and running forwards with it with Byrne as No 10 where he doesnt have to make a tackle.
Wellens needs to grow a pair to stand any chance of getting us the 2 wins.

I'd say someone who has got to the stage where he can buy HALF OF a football club has done okay for himself. That's pretty obvious

If that Back 4 starts we get hammered by that I mean Hamer, George, Sott, Hunt. Nothing against them they are kids. George has done not to bad since he's come in so has Hamer, but over 90 minutes of a team coming of a 4-0 win you can help but think we are there to be got at. First goal is massive tonight. Go a goal down early we could be thumped. We have to start on the front foot and really work from minute 1 tonight.
I think that we should use somebody else for the team talk tonight.

What has the kit discussion got to do with the delayed opening of the fan bar? Do we have to wear a particular kit to get in, if it ever opens?

Yes but these days supposedly only £2 'leaves' the club so at least you are helping towards next season's budget

RB. Apart from when we had a goal kick when Hamer went wide to better use his height.
Us becoming a long ball team at Wimbledon who would have envisaged that in the glory days-Long throws as well

With a 12th choice back four we've got to go Gung Ho haven't we?
Win by at least 3 tonight to help the goal difference. If you pick the right team Richie!

I would bring Nepo in on the left, Byrne and Gardner in the middle, Nazon on the right and Double D up front.
Don't expect it will happen though.
Who the fcuk is going to win the ball? Are you pissed man? Possession will be 2% us (kick offs and goal kicks) and 98% them.
Get a grip! You cannot play in the third division without a useless load of old tripe in defensive midfield.
Just wait until BigDog and WelshGaz see that line up.

Yeah and he shares a proportion of the blame. My point is that if he's not there we would concede more and there is no one in the squad who can win the ball back like he can.
So he starts because we are lacking in that position.
How would you know if we are lacking in that position since other players have to be moved around to accomodate him?
One day, maybe Tuesday we start without him and lo and behold let us see how we do with 11 footballers on the pitch.
As has been said by others, if we take care of the ball do we then actually need him.
Its the bleeding 3rd division not the Champions League, it shouldnt be that difficult.

Eh? (again).
My criticism was of the fans who seem to blame Fane for everything that goes wrong. I backed up why I disagreed with that opinion in my post. The only selective memory belongs to those who ‘forgot’ the part that Hamer and Gardner played in the goals we conceded.
Those who know me also know that in numerous posts I have supported Fane for what he does do - break up the play, get a foot in, and lay the ball off to the nearest Latics player. At no time do I make out that he is anything other than an effective member of the team.
You say that Richie and I are taking the ‘easy option’? Nope, still don’t get what you are trying to say.
As for Byrne; by far the two best performances he has put in recently have been when he has come off the bench.
Select Fanny and leave Byrne on the bench. Can you just actually think about that for a moment? Is that straight forward enough?
Let me make it clear-certain posters including myself do not want to see Fanny on the pitch until perhaps the last 10 minutes when we are 2 goals in front.

It kind of does matter if you haven't got the players really though.
I'll take my boots on Tuesday night.
I can obstruct players for at least 90 minutes and will win more headers than Fanny without even getting off the ground.

The other two being whom?
It doesnt really matter. 2 really good players will win us games in this crap division so long as they are told to play in the correct positions.
I notice at Dale we had a freekick just inside our half and Gerrard passed it diagonally 6 yards to Byrne rather than telling him to piss off towards their area.
Wellens needs to grow a pair.

We only have two central midfielders so by definition he has to play.
May I say that that is bollocks. 4-3-1-2 with Gardner central and Byrne behind the strikers.

One minute you criticise the people who call for Fanny to be dropped as choosing 'the easy option' then you choose to not back up your quite obviously selective memory regarding his ability? Lets try without him we might win and get those much needed 3 points.
I would say that it is you and Wellens who are taking 'the easy option.'
Starting Fanny with Byrne on the bench is an absolute disgrace

The point I iske is that attributing the blame solely to Fite is the easy option. No mention of Hamer’s mistake and no mention of Gardner getting in the way, it’s all down to Fane. For some it’s his fault that we are in the position we’re in, no one else.
We can all microanalyse an individual’s performance and at the moment there is a number on here who cannot wait to pick Fane as the man at fault. He has his limits as a footballer but he also has his strengths.
Everyone has his/her opinion, that’s what this board is all about. Mine is that Ousmane is a vital member of the team and starting without him at the moment would weaken the team.
That’s all. ?
Selecting a player who cannot kick a football Is like selecting a player who blows out of his arse after 30 minutes. No matter how u dress It up

Alright Bitch!
One assumes that you are counting times where the ball lands on the top of his head and shoots off in any direction (as his passing does)

Can't be, Smoker would have been in the home end.
On Tuesday I was supporting the team that didnt play hoofball. Mind you that wasnt the case by about 7.46 pm as both teams were playing hoofball by then.

Byrne is more guilty of a lot of things but not in needlessly slowing the ball down. Fanny has to slow things down just to ensure he doesnt fall over his own feet.
On Tuesday once moved inside Byrne very quickly indeed played a couple of gorgeous diagonal passes into the forwards runs.
I think you mean that his positioning is poor which is no doubt true but the manager should have sorted that out by now. It shows weakness.
When we get freekicks just inside our own half Byrne comes short demanding the ball. He should be told to eff up towards their area.
Gerrard usually passes it 5 yards to him-the thick scouser
