Whoever can you mean Boo boy?
Haha Kean, Elokobi, Kelly, Jones and Winchester all have one vote and it baffles me how they received a vote between them, I know Philly has his fans on here but even his biggest fan cant tell me he deserved a man of the match nomination for Saturdays performance!
-
Looking at the mom vote above its clear some players are now voting for themselves
-
Kean
Wilson Wilson Elokobi Mills
Winchester Kelly Jones Forte
Turner Murphy
4-4-2 or 4-1-3-2
-
What about a front two of Murphy and Turner on Saturday ? Both look like they could play in a front two but would they compliment each other.
-
From what I saw there midfield dominated and pushed our lads deep to receive the ball hence the long balls. No excuse though as most could see this after 15mins but we didn't seem to change shape or formation.
It's what we did to Swindon in the 1st half on Tuesday and got us 2-0 in front.
Its the same pressing tactic employed by all four bottom teams who have taken the points from BP this season, press the ball, put the centrehalfs under pressure its simple, whats wrong with playing with width against these teams, at least pass it around them and make them work hard to get on the ball, the value of a player like Winchester in these games shouldnt be underestimated, he takes the pressure of the midfield with the ball at his feet and is a much tougher player for the opposition to deal with as he is unpredictable and can take a couple of players out of a phase with one bit of skill, playing against teams like Swindon is better for us as they came to play football and we match up quite well with these teams but surely between a coaching set up involving LJ, Wright, Holden and Tony P they have it in them to form a plan B when we go behind against the poor teams, other than against a ten men Crewe team we havent even looked like scoring when we have gone behind at home to the divisions lowest ranked teams.
-
He looked lively when he came on, without wanting to rush him back his brief cameo may have put him in contention for a start next Saturday, Ive liked what Ive seen of him and fingers crossed we may now start to see the best of him.
-
Leaving aside whether he should be in the team for a moment, just bringing a bit of balance to the argument... have you looked at the goals and assist stats when you state that Winchester is the most creative player and Philliskirk brings nothing?
I havent stated he brings nothing but a return of 1 in 10 on assists and goals for a player who plays at the tip or off the striker is a poor return.
-
Remember when Jose Baxter scored 13 goals in the league in a season and had loads of assists.
Well this season he's scored 5 league goals and has 3 league assists.
Philliskirk has 4 league goals and 4 league assists.
Neither will count penalties won which end up in goals of which Philliskirk has quite a few.
Given the choice of Philliskirk and £300k, or Baxter I'm taking Tony's lad and the cash this season.
A straight swap and I might still take Danny due to his defensive qualities and as the stats show fairly even attacking qualities.
He has 3 goals and 3 assists in 29 league games this season.
-
Lets see if he picks him next week then. Im not the only one who sees it there are plenty on here who support my view, was glad when he was rested and couldnt understand how he walked straight back into a winning team at the expense of our most creative player, like I say he is the blue eyed boy of the squad but he needs a rocket up is arse because for me he just isnt doing it. As for being one of our best players dont make me laugh.

Yep. We're sixth. We expected to be about 14th. That's over achieving...
It could be viewed like that and in the grand scheme of things Id of ripped your arm off to be in with a shout of the playoffs but one point from twelve at home to the bottom four, all it makes me think is what could of been, an opportunity missed Id say.
-
That's the top and bottom of it. We've severely over-achieved this season...
Over achieved ?
We have now played all 4 of the bottom 4 at home in the league and its pretty grim reading played 4 lost 3 drawn 1, 9 goals against, 2 for.
A return of 1 point from a possible 12 against teams rooted to the bottom of the table is unacceptable, if some players cant put it in against these teams they need to take a look at themselves, the difference between the application and desire in the last two home games is chalk and cheese, the fact the club put on a promotion today is even more disappointing.
-
Probably agree with the introduction of Winchester (on the bench because he picked up a slight injury on Tuesday, maybe?) and to a lesser extent, Poleon..
Big ask of Turner to come on and influence a game like that, though.
Its a bigger ask in my opinion to ask Murphy to play three games in a week after supposedly arriving at the club with niggles, nothing wrong with Winchester if there was he wouldnt of come on, its a reccurring theme drop Winchester to accomodate others, eventually the manager will wise up to the fact that he makes us tick, if he tires take him off after an hour, he was the one player Colchester would of been worried about today and he was sat on his arse for most the game.
-
Did we actually put a cross in today ?
-
Suprised he didnt act at halftime if im honest, he could of taken any three from half a dozen of them off at the break with no complaints from me.
-
Yet again a team plays narrow at BP and we dont have a clue how to deal with them, where is plan B then ?
-
Why pick him out? Forte was 1v1 and decided not to challenge the keeper. That's criminal, i think danny would have gone round the keeper, if he was in that situation. Just cause he's top scorer, doesn't mean he's immune to criticism.
Im not saying others are immune but this is the Danny Philliskirk thread so I tend to stick to the subject, if anyone actually wants to tell me what he brings to the team Im happy to listen. I just dont see it.
-
Seem to recall a cross on Tuesday that Murphy should have buried that's not zero influence
Not bad for 120 minutes of football - well done Danny
-
I'll put you up against a center half who is a foot taller than you...have your team mates drop it on his head and see how you like it!!
Funnily enough, the times it was given to his feet, he did half decent job!
This every day of the week, what worries me is none of the coaching staff spotted Colchesters weakness was down the flanks the 7ft lad at centrehalf had all our forwards in his pocket.
-
Seemed fine when he came on but was as crap as 12 of the others! Stop picking one -there were plenty of others who were crap today! He is your boo boy!
Because we are :censored: and powder puff with him in the team, ive backed it up with stats so go on make the case for him being in the team ahead of Winny today ? In fact how did Mike Jones go off before him, Im sorry but the bloke needs to step up and grow a pair cos he isnt up to it.
-
Winch is carrying a knock so they were trying to protect him.DP had a poor game but so did all the others.I seem to remember him being on the pitch on Tuesday when we won.
Carrying a knock ? Seemed fine when he came on, as for boo boy he will turn into one if he continues to perform in such an inept way he is totally toothless, as for him being in the team Tuesday he chased shadows for the half hour he was on and had zero influence on the game, like ive said the team at Scunthorpe and the one early doors at Swindon didnt contain him, says it all really, golden boy can do no wrong for some though.
-
Forte will rip them apart on the left today IMO, just hope he doesnt move him inside.
So he moves him inside for the last 35 minutes making him totally ineffective and sticks Poleon wide left - dear me.
-
Tinkerman returns - you reap what you sow.
-
No but they were happy to pat themselves on the back after Tuesday, bunch of bottlers who seem content to be turned over by some wank teams this season, they really should have a bit more pride but unfortunately not many of them fancy a battle.
-
Whose defending him tonight then ? Golden boy but offers the team absoloutely nothing in any third of the pitch, its no coincidence we cant win a game at the minute with him on the pitch, to play him in front of Winny is nothing short of criminal.

No I thought the game passed him by after showing a little promise when he came on, I voted for Rhys Turner one of the only positives I can take out of Saturday.
