I am baffled by this kind of patronising comment. Reeks of entitlement. We are a non league team ourselves and down here for a reason. We are 10th in the 5th tier and have good days and bad days. Mickleover are, what, 2 or 3 tiers below us? But 2nd in their league, having a good season and yesterday were not surprisingly up for maybe the biggest game in their club's history. I really don't see the point of belittling them as another stick to beat Latics with.

Lugubrious is a reasonably common word isn't it? Must admit I thought it was. Anyway like L1F I quite like coming across words I haven't seen before and/or don't know the meaning of. Life is an education.

Makes you wonder though. Did their wingers raise their game for the occasion, or are they genuinely worth taking a chance on? I know we need a right back and a creative midfielder, but a good winger is always worth a place.

I agree, we haven't exactly had much in the way of success in recent years. If we do win the competition we might need some WD40 to get the trophy cabinet open (if we still have one?!).

Now that's an interesting one. I used to dread hs co-commentaries and I still think he talks too much, but lately I've found myself agreeing with his points more often. Very worrying!

Who are “them”? Might it be the players who were happy to play the match, and so were happy to train? Might there be a difference between training on a dodgy surface, and a full-on match? Fans with tickets yesterday will get the chance to attend the rearranged match, or a refund. Yes, it was inconvenient for fans who travelled hoping to see a match, but it wasn’t cancelled in order to upset anybody. You often post interesting points on here, @BP1960, but you let yourself down sometimes with an unduly negative view.
