  1. Does (or did in pre-Biblical times) FC UoM, by some bizarre post code lottery quirk, have a corner flag in Oldham?
  2. Anyone streaming it on here as a few other games have been?
  3. Will anyone be streaming the Yeovil game on here tonight? Can't make it sadly.
  4. Gunnar? Is he coming back too? Now, there was a player!
  5. I'm happy to carry not so good players who put an absolute shift in. COG ran as much as anyone yesterday, running down dead balls into channels, closing down their keeper and defenders and chasing his own flick ons from Clarke's hefty hoofing. That said, we have some clearly better players who need to remember this isn't the league for them and maintain their standards. GE has grown into the role with Clarke. Clarke's 'seen it before' attitude and ultimate professionalism will grow George into a quality player. He makes very few mistakes and the danger for me is a top L1 or mid-table Champ side come sniffing. I'm a big Gardener fan. Yesterday was not his best but you could see the difference in his attitude with Baxter playing. He didn't have to win the ball and set up play. He broke down play a few times and was able to lay off to Baxter who has great vision. Game time will get the rust off him and I think they'll be a good combo.
  6. The majority of our panic came from him. To let him go from end of his own box to edge of ours, then pick his cross at will, was criminal. Thankfully their 12 is as much of a striker/footballer of any sorts as I am supermodel.
  7. I think it's a hook. No one slices a ball with the consistency, skill or accuracy like John Hallworth. Ah, those were the days, catching the ball in front of the dug out from goal kicks taken in the now away end. Correct with remedy though. A few hours on a park should sort it.
  8. Wow, what a following. Can't remember the last time we were that vocal and didn't turn on our own lads. As per other comments, 2nd half was poor at very best. It was decided, in the depths of the Globe Arena, the passing we showed in spells of the first half was to be no more and the plan was to hoof to COG whose sole job was to flick on to no one. That said, what a steely performance, coming together on defence to keep a clean sheet...largely thanks to some very good stops by Iversen (he needs a far better song). The Hunt to RM / Graham to RB must stop though. Both look lost and invite the opposition on. Thought Taylor did really well today. 2nd half, there was a huge gap ahead of him where whoever should've been LM went missing and their right back...he can play a bit...bombed on. This team will gel. It will get better just by sending time of the pitch together. KTF. OTID. Good reception from players to fans at the end. Dad n lad.
  9. Noted with thanks. I wonder if bringing my own sauce sachets and plastic spork would ease congestion around the refreshment area?
  10. Clearly the draw of a Saturday afternoon in sunny Morecambe isn't thrilling enough to keep people on track. No need to go anyway. Don't want to spoil it but it finishes 3 - 1 to Latics.
  11. Maybe it's a really big box you can't get over or round.
  12. Ah, as in one of those toys that needs enough D batteries to power the sun expensive.
  13. The whole thing is like knowing what you're getting for Christmas but not knowing when Christmas Day is. Then, when that magical day arrives, you aren't too arsed about what you've known you were getting and would rather play with the wrapping paper. This debacle is a complete distraction to everyone I can think of. Now we're on page 16 of a thread with 1000s of view. FB must get asked about it more often than the age old 'are we there yet?' on an arduous car journey. I'm not that arsed if he ever comes back. Sure, he's good. But is he Coke good? Ok, he way better, I digress. He's proven over time (at a host of clubs) to be not worthy of the time those invest in him with his acts of undisciplined petulance. Now, onto more important things...if Morecambe run out of pies mid-way through the 1st half, like the BP shambles last Saturday, I for one will not be in a happy place.
  14. He's about the same size as Messi. I guess that's where the similarities end.
  15. I think is was Abraham Lincoln that said 71% of internet statistics are made up. Never a truer word spoken.
  16. Yet we came away with a point and a clean sheet. I'd hate to hear your views had we been drubbed 10-0.
  17. Mid table or not, there'll be a solid bunch with the IQ of tree stump out in force. My lad has just turned 7, he was genuinely scared at Bury (as bottles were getting thrown over the yellow gate on the right). It's still a day out for the d1ckh3ads. Anywhere they can get the tram to is a different turn out / atmosphere.
  18. Bury...last weekend of February. 2 games in they are averaging 3,002. I can see them giving us both goal ends to double their gate.
  19. I think it is more evident this season so far. Maybe because he's on the ball much more in the absence of he who must not be named. Maybe because we are enjoying far more possession than in previous years. Maybe because he knows he's better than the dross opposing him so far. He dropped deep for the one-two with Edmundson to set the move off for the 1st vs Macc, the midfield interception to break Macc play for the 2nd. His fitness is top notch so far. I also think he's a League 1 player...so he expects to be involved much more at this level. He plays the holding role well. If he wants to shepherd instead of tackle, I'll take that. Teams give the ball away far more than they use it. We desperately need someone in front of him, Baxter maybe, for him to feed to go create chances for the pace in bundles Surridge. Coke, personal opinion, is awful. If he's what we need, I may as well have a go between the sticks. No one got chance to make many tackles last year with Fane throwing his legs everywhere. I reckon he gave away more fouls than the rest of Tics combined (maybe with the exception of Miombe and his knack of giving aways pens). PS - new to the forum (had membership pending for quite some time - clearly the checks came back ok), been following on and off since 90/91 season, sat/stood everywhere except the Joe Royle (it all it's previous forms), now 'educating' the lad (often with Haribo bribery).
  20. I agree with a comment earlier on that Gardener seems to be taking on too much in the absence of he who must not be named. He wants a piece of every play and he doesn't have the talent to do that. That said, for all the negativity, he is running his balls off so far this season...more than can be said for last! 3 games in, I'll settle for a Tuesday night point on the other side of the earth. Pre-season is pre-season, these early games are where we find our feet. So far, I do think progress is being made. I hope FB drums in some kind of 'relax on the ball' mentality. This is not league 1 where we did nothing more than panic into water out of our depth. Fitness wise we are leaps and bounds ahead of some of these teams, blatantly evident last night when they were sucking for air like a race horse. Ability wise, we have at least two players in def/mid/att to rival the best any of the league 2 teams can throw at us. If this is a consolidation season, so be it. However, apart from MK who came down with us, we are far better than those we have played so far. See you at Morecambe. Lad n dad.
