monkeykieran
News Link I saw the list last night and some of the details on it. Whilst it is not my political persuasion, and some of those (policemen/teachers) had it coming, for a lot fo the rest of them I think this couldnt be pretty damaging and in some cases unfairly. We all have our ways of thinking and should be allowed to have those without fear so long as they do not jeopardise the lives of others in this country. There are active racists in this country no doubt, no doubt some of that list are included, however that doesn't mean to say that all those on that list mean any harm to individuals but simply believe in the political points of a nationalist party. ? garcon
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7736794.stm BNP members have told BBC News they have received threatening and abusive phone calls and e-mails after a leaked document was published online. Personally, I'm just happy they're getting a dose of their own medicine. And happier still that they're now a non-entity in Oldham.
monkeykieran
I see your point, but I dont condone any threats or violence and surely this is simply going to create more friction, and result in them no longer being a non entity when those affected get together? garcon
The fact the list was leaked was wrong, and yes making threats by phone or email is wrong. I just find it difficult ... ok, impossible to have any sympathy. I don't think they will have a resurgence in Oldham. Certainly not in the short term. leeslover
It would be a very dull day in the office before I would go down a list of 12000 people to see if I recognised anyone on it. No doubt the coppers, doctors and so on will get grief over it but if people want to go and kick off with the BNP they can’t be that hard to find anyway, their more prominent members stand for council and I presume they publicise where their meetings are. Strange lot the BNP, very far to the left on the majority of issues but always described as right wing because of their immigration policy and the sentiments of their supporters. Frankly Mr Shankly
It would be a very dull day in the office before I would go down a list of 12000 people to see if I recognised anyone on it. There's a Celtic player on there. Kennedy I think. There's another Scottish Footballer but don't know who he plays for. This is hilarious. I've been on a couple of BNP blogs and the kerfuffle going on the last 24 hours is great reading as the dirty little secret is outed. I think the best thing of all to come out of all of this though, is that it shows the BNP couldn't run the proverbial pissup in a brewery. LaticsLen
Its not going good for Talk sport at the minute A RADIO station today sacked a DJ whose name appeared on a leaked BNP membership list. TalkSport presenter Rod Lucas, a veteran broadcaster who has also been on Radio 1, was among 10,000 people named when the secret list was published on the internet. The station yesterday ousted another presenter, Jon Gaunt, for branding a councillor a "Nazi". Hundreds of Londoners were exposed as members of the far-Right party, including teachers, soldiers, advertising men and even a songwriter. Others were police officers and prison staff, whose contracts forbid them from joining the BNP, and servicemen including a member of the Intelligence Corps. Sony Award winner Lucas was brought in to cover overnight shows earlier this year and was hailed by station bosses for his "unique style of radio". On his website he boasts of pioneering the "zoo-style" of radio with Steve Wright while a BBC producer in the Eighties. His firm - Lucas Media Group - claims it represents more than 250 DJs and artists, running £350-a-day training courses at his home in Staplehurst, Kent. The BNP membership list, which is one year old, said Lucas would not be renewing his membership. A TalkSport spokesman said: "We won't be using him again. We had no knowledge of his association with the BNP."

The really funny thing about far right groups is that the leadership are almost always screamingly gay. Most of the early Nazi leadership, the Austrian bloke who just died, apparently the NF were all at it in the 1970s.... I suppose you get a load of blokes who like dressing up in uniforms and hanging around with other men and it’s only to be expected... Strange lot the BNP, very far to the left on the majority of issues but always described as right wing because of their immigration policy and the sentiments of their supporters. Thinking about this its not against the rules for doctors to be members (though I'm sure it would be frowned upon). At the moment it seems the medical profession is more concerned about its members being jihadists. I actually got an e-mail about this last year urging anyone to report any abuse they received as a consequence of the glasgow airport thing. Frankly, what political party anyone votes for is their business and it should be up to them to disclose it if they want, but that won't stop me having a nosey to see if I recognise anyone on it but I wouldn't give anyone grief over it. rosa
Personally, I'm just happy they're getting a dose of their own medicine. Couldn't agree more. They've got a cheek whingeing and crying about this when they've been posting photos and personal details of anti-racists on the Combat 18-linked site Redwatch for years, and people have been attacked as a result. The leader of Merseyside TUC got attacked with a screwdriver at home in front of his kids (link) and i know people who've had their cars torched and swastikas drawn on their front doors after their addresses were posted on there, so i'm not gonna lose any sleep over BNP members whining about how they might lose their jobs. The really funny thing about far right groups is that the leadership are almost always screamingly gay. Remember that story about that BNP councillor, Richard Barnbrook? Made a film called HMS Discovery:A Love Story. Insists that it was 'art', not gay porn. hahahahahaha yeah right.
OldhamSheridan
...and to quote Kent Brockman: "I've said it before and I'll say it again; Democracy just doesn't work". Anyone who thinks this is a good thing deserves me in charge as Overlord*. *I promise to be good**. **As long as you give me your wife***/girlfriend. ***One night only, returns can be immediate. help_shiny
but can you condone a left wing nutter carving up a bnp member in front of his children because a right wing nutter carved up a union man in front of his?

Yard Dog
There are probably more racists in the Oldham Labour Branch than there are in the Oldham BNP Branch.
Yard Dog
It would be a very dull day in the office before I would go down a list of 12000 people to see if I recognised anyone on it. If you browse in Firefox just press ''Ctrl'' and ''F ''and then use the search facility - you can search by any keyword...town, name etc .... if you're a nosy bugger like me it saves you a bit of time....some very salubrious Oldham and Rochdale addresses on there eg Saddleworth etc On a serious and very contradictory note, I think it's wrong that this list has been allowed to get into the public domain. leeslover
There are probably more racists in the Oldham Labour Branch than there are in the Oldham BNP Branch. Wouldn't surprise me. I'm pretty sure there are more racists in the Rochdale Lib Dems than there are Rochdale BNP members (I can't speak for the other parties). It was quite noticeable from my quick scan over that list that Oldham seemed to outscore Rochdale by maybe 10 to 1, which goes along with my unscientific feelings. Frankly Mr Shankly
The BNP member from the Isle of Lewis does the following range in pretty button badges. Seemingly he's on both sides of the Wind Turbine debate but the one that won it for me was his BETTER DEAD THEN RED badge. I'm sure he meant THAN, right? Bless.
