why do people want to remove a manager who:

has assembled a very good young squad with a spine of experience,

currently sat in the top 6 5 points off 2nd

working with the 3rd smallest budget in the league

fending off numnerous big clubs trying to cherry pick his best players

just after transfer deadline

took us to play-offs in 1st season and came close with a virtual youth team due 2 injuries last year

plays good football when possible

knows the world of football and our club as well as anybody

who else would people bring in? who could do any better?

how many successful clubs chop and change managers when the chips r down? Look at chelsea now? struggling after sacking a manager. and the filthy reds? still got taggart and chasing silverware all over the show(even if it hurts me to say it)

I think it's time we all got behind shez and his staff and push in the same direction-for promotion

KEEP THE FAITH EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!

When you put it like that it almost makes you forget the terrible football we are playing and how we struggle to beat teams at the bottom of the division time after time.

we've struggled against the weaker teams under most managers in living memory. and if thats what you call terrible football then maybe you should pop over to clayton playing fields every now and again

Yeh but they aren't on 2k a week...a bit of a difference methinks!!!!

The weaker teams are only near the bottom for one reason...They are crap and thera's no excuse for not wiping the floor with the vast majority of them!!

 FINALLY! a well balanced post :applause1:

Putting it another way: ok sack Shez and get who? someone else who can manage on a little more than fresh air

Fair play to the guy in my book, doing a decent job with a club punching well above it's weight and has been for years!

Why do people want to remove a manager who:

  • has assembled a very good young squad with a spine of experience, - Agree.

currently sat in the top 6 5 points off 2nd - Just, and not looking too grand at the moment.

working with the 3rd smallest budget in the league - I wish someone would tell the real position, as this just can't be right.

fending off numerous big clubs trying to cherry pick his best players just after transfer deadline - Not his job

took us to play-offs in 1st season and came close with a virtual youth team due 2 injuries last year - Well he didn't really in the second year, and he wasn't doing exactly great when we had the full team.

plays good football when possible - Agree.

knows the world of football and our club as well as anybody - Agree about our club.

who else would people bring in? who could do any better? - No one I can think of that would come here.

how many successful clubs chop and change managers when the chips r down? Look at chelsea now? struggling after sacking a manager. and the filthy reds? still got taggart and chasing silverware all over the show(even if it hurts me to say it) - 47,984.

I think it's time we all got behind shez and his staff and push in the same direction-for promotion - Agree.

Difference being one's professional for a living, ones amateur's doing it for fun (most of them hungover). The sad thing is, you couldnt tell them apart sometimes this season and the amount of absolutely dreadful performances which follow with "i'm disgraced. I promise the fans they wont be seeing a performance like that again all season" - only for it to happen less than a week later. Takes the p*ss.

How Shez continues to play the invisible man in Centre mid (whittaker), I do not know. People go on about Lomax and Eardley but Whittaker has been below par for just as long, with a few ready made replacements who can come in for him. Yet Shez chooses to stick by him and he constantly fails to put in a performance to show Shez was right to keep faith. Will he ever put in a tackle. Will he ever win the 2nd ball? It's baffling to think Shez was one of the greatest centre mid's English football has seen, yet he plays Whitts bad game after bad game when there's Lee, Maher and Stephens all wondering why the hell they arent getting a chance.

Shez is doing alright with us, but some of his decisions with starting line up, tactics (far too defensive at scunny) and subs (most predictable in the league??) are absolutely baffling.

i'm not claiming shez is the best manager in the world, i am just asking people who could come in and do a better job mid season? yes granted we do struggle in certain types of game(ie when lower teams come and sit 10men behind the ball to defend) i do have critisisms of shez like he should use his subs more directly and maybe change the shape of the team when things r difficult and we're struggling to break a team down but look at the potential in our team! Come on give him the chance to develop that potential. he has knows his budget and used it rather well. we have scouts flocking from all over and just maybe sheridan is a victim of his early season success. We set off on a storming run and expectation levels soared. What good is booing after a draw going to do? teams set out 2 frustrate us at boundary park and im sure it was frustrating for shez and the lads as it was for us. we need to be patient as a club and have some positive vibes about the place. We have a very exciting young goalkeeper, a varied backline that in gregan has aleader with presence, young energitic wingers with plenty of potential, midfielders that have goals in them and the best looking strike force seen at bp since palmer and ritchie. Y can't we all pull in the same direction and stop the moaning and negative reactions.

why do people want to remove a manager who:

has assembled a very good young squad with a spine of experience - Windass, Hughes, Crossley/Fleming, Taylor, Eardley, Gregan - More than enough quality to get us into the top two.

currently sat in the top 6 5 points off 2nd - Not good enough with the squad available; Lee, Stephens, Willams (relesead after 6 months...tell us why), Gregan, Fleming (Rejected championship clubs to join us, not on peanuts), Taylor (signed a new contract, not on peanuts), Eardley (signed a new contract, not on peanuts, but on the bench), Maher (Not on a cheap contract, only a sub), A number of these not used when its obvious a change is needed.

working with the 3rd smallest budget in the league - According to who? Shez? Windass - Not cheap, Offering Hughes 3k a week apparently, Crossley, Gregan, Taylor, Maher, Lee, Fleming, dont believe that for a second!

fending off numnerous big clubs trying to cherry pick his best players - Allegedly. Taylor has been anonymous without DJ, Hughes couldnt care less, wherever the most money is he will go, Windass doesnt want to be here, is only here because were the nearest club to where he lives and Hull know hes too old for the Premier League.

took us to play-offs in 1st season and came close with a virtual youth team due 2 injuries last year - (Eardley, Taylor, Lomax) Id back myself to achieve the same with the squd he had available. Thats 3 players out of 11.

plays good football when possible - Where is it this season then? Lomax, Hazell HOOF when they get on the ball!

knows the world of football and our club as well as anybody - ha ha', yeh ok then, name a signing he has made as a result of this 'knowledge'. Bringing in his mates of 30 odd years if age wont get us out of this league.

who else would people bring in? who could do any better? Aidy Bothroyd, Jim Gannon, Paul Ince (unlikely, but possible). Andy Ritchie 9

how many successful clubs chop and change managers when the chips r down? Look at chelsea now? struggling after sacking a manager. and the filthy reds? still got taggart and chasing silverware all over the show(even if it hurts me to say it) - Arsene Wenger?, Dario Gradi?

I think it's time we all got behind shez and his staff and push in the same direction-for promotion - I want some of what your on. If you believe he can get us out of this division you are deluded.

Hmmm, a slightly negative outlook there. Sheridan is doing a bad job as he is in the playoffs, despite most saying he would be doing well if he made the playoffs. Okay then. He should win every game 5-0? The squad is decent, but let's not get carried away - it isn't any better than pretty much its current position.

If Windass didn't want to be here, I doubt he'd have signed. Not really got much need to has he?

Brings in his mates? Who, and where did they meet? Footballers Reunited? I love this one, just because someone is over 30 they must be one of Sheridans 'mates'.

I can only think that Ritchie out of that managerial bunch would come here. Maybe Gannon at one hell of a push. Is that (Ritchie) the way forward?

I believe it isn't impossible for him to get us out of this division, but other teams seem to have the same objective for some reason.

Alot of latics fans have ideas above our station. Yes we used to be a premier league club but it was more a case of we were punching above our weight back then than underacheiving now.

Granted, us as fans deserve 2 see abit of success at bp due 2 the last 15 yrs or so we've suffered but we need to do it sensibly and follow our business plan and budget, something that sheridan sees.

The weaker teams are only near the bottom for one reason...They are crap and thera's no excuse for not wiping the floor with the vast majority of them!!

I'd actually say its generally because they are inconsistent rather than being crap. But that's my opinion.

Is Sheriden perfect? No, of course not and I don't think that anyone (including himself) would say so. But find me a club whose supporters don't find something to criticise (even when Man U lost a few games you get their fans saying its time for a change).

Does anyone realistically think we'll get another manager in that has a 'proven' record to replace Shez? Our next manager (and it will happen at some point) will either be A.N.Other unproven newbie OR a manager with a CV with more failures than successes.

For me Sheriden has yet to have a 'failure' season; and we are in our 3rd season of moderate success i.e. still in with a shout of going up. He is young and relatively inexperienced, and I think he is learning (though in some areas slower than I'd like - permenant tfr dealings could be better).

Change for the sake of change without any obvious improvement as a result? Madness. Time and time again people say that managers need time to build a successful side - personally I'd give him another 2 full-seasons failing a relegation fight. However I'd accept that in the current football world, the end of this season may well be decision time for TTA. If we don't get promoted, then we need to have had a strong-ish finish and a valiant attempt in the play-offs - OR they may want a change.
