underdog
I have had enough....... we are all "experts" managers, players, owners on here with regards to Latics and solutions but as individuals we can't do a lot....so I have decided I will be a "supporter", I will be returning back to BP next season after a self exile for a number of years. yes I have only recently returned and yes will get flack for it too, but oh how I have missed the walk down sheepfoot lane, the cheering of the lads on the pitch both though good and bad and although things have dramatically changed - this is still my home team and it needs my "support". Even if it just means me turning up though the turnstyles when I can. I/we don't have a magic band aid to fix it all....but we do have one thing in common....the love of Oldham Athletic..... I will be there at Walsall on Sat - dressed as a complete fashion victim from the 80's as its the theme on the Beardy bus and I am looking forward to the lads giving us something to cheer about too. So what are YOU going to do and where will you be next season? I hope walking down sheepfoot lane to watch a game of footy..... TafkaN
I was a stayaway from about 95 - 2003, mostly due to having a new wife and family and no spare cash, and working 6 or 7 nights a week to pay the bills. However, in 2003 - 04, I took my eldest lad (6 at the time) to a game and he loved it. Since 2004 - 05 season, we have both been season ticket holders, and also get to a few aways every season. Even better, my youngest son has now expressed an interest (he came to the Southend game on Saturday), and he wants to come to every game with me and his big brother, so that's another junior Latic with a season ticket for next year. I never realised how much I missed matchdays during my exile until I returned. Sharing it with my lads makes it even better, even though we haven't had much to cheer about lately. My lad has been to about 25 away grounds, and he loves telling his armchair Man U fan friends at school about his travels. During his time as a Latic, he has seen us beat City and Everton in the FA Cup, not quite the highlights I have seen, but he knows that anything is possible, and that's what keeps us going. Keep the faith, mine has been restored by having the chance to introduce my two sons to being fans of a real club, where we feel the pain, we suffer the lack of TV cash, but every victory is all the sweeter and means something. We have seen the lows, which makes the highs all the better. Edited April 28, 2009 by TafkaN

Children are the future - much better preparation for life for them to follow Latics through thin and thinner, than to bask in the reflected glory of the Greedy League. You have just explained, quite superbly, why people should be queuing on Sheepfoot Lane at 9am to renew season tickets, or buy them for the first time, or get one again after a year or two without. That genuinely brought a tear to my eye. Edited April 29, 2009 by opinions4u

RodgerWylde
I'll be getting a new season ticket. Yes it's been a disappointing second half to the season but I'll be doing my 100 mile round trip next season. You either go home on a high or you realise the rest of your week wasn't actually that bad! That's the beauty of supprting Latics!

oafcmetty
Season ticket for me too. Sitting next to my 5 year old half-brother, teaching him it's ok to say ':censored:' as long as someone has said 'united'. And trying not to laugh when hearing that he's been singing "Ferguson, your dad's a :censored:, your mum is at home" in the playground. futchers briefs
I'm going to continue to player/manage on saturday afternoons and get down to BP when i can. Beyond that, when i've packed the footy in, will be back with ST in hand as i had done before last season. We've been around for long enough and hopefully will continue to be around in a few years to come.
Zorrro
I'm going to continue to player/manage on saturday afternoons My one piece of advice would be not to pick Andrew Whitehead. He's mince and I've heard he's a bit batty as well.

De_La_Vega
Who is this Andrew Whitehead? I've heard him mentioned a couple of times in the "World's Greatest Players" list, but i've never had the good fortune to hear him talk solid good sense about the world in general. Unlike Ryan "The Wankster" Cartwright, who a man so bad at football that he actually had to move down South to find somewhere his infamy had yet to pierce. Now he is regularly employed by some dirt-bags in the wilds of dirty London as a specialist in giving hand-jobs to the referee before the game - they'll do anything to win those cheating shandy drinkers... My next mission is to find said Whitehead, and laud him with great praise for being an all-English leader.
