managerial disaster

Recommended Posts

what worried me on Saturday was that after such a dismal first half i thought we would come out all guns blazing in the second.

After 10 min of the second Accrington had scored , hit the post and made brill pull off 2 great saves. They were all over us and could have scored 4 more in that 10 -15 min spell afetr half time.

What did we talk about at half time !!!!!!

And why didn't Furmin come on for the inept Jarrett when it was obvious first half that they were strolling through our midfield ??

The players attiturde was dreadful and it has cost the club big style , they need to put a great run together now and hope we get in the play offs .IF we don't not only is this season ruined but next season may not even start for us !!!!!!!!!!! :ranting:

Perhaps the manager thought Jones, with his desire to play in the middle and his Man Utd pedigree, should have been able to do a job there, so moved him across and gave Jarrett the hook.

Oddly, when the manager took Jones off and didn't put Furman on things improved.

You have to have a very strong manager, who takes off one his own bought in players and admits that he has got the signing wrong. Thats probably why some players are undropable and why he wont play transfer listed players either

No player should be undroppable and if a transfer listed player is performing well he should be taken off the list (assuming it's not at his own request).

Bit of crap article on the chron talking about it

ATHLETIC boss Paul Dickov made two changes from the line-up selected for the abandoned derby against Rochdale for the FA Cup first-round tie at Accrington Stanley.

Kieran Lee and Dean Furman — arguably the two best performers for Athletic this season — dropped to the bench, where they remained unused in the 3-2 defeat.

Carl Winchester came in at right-back and Jason Jarrett was brought into the centre of midfield, though the latter player, who has been used as a back-up centre-half this season, had an unhappy game and was substituted at half-time.

There was a suggestion that Lee and Furman were being saved from a possible suspension for the Huddersfield game on Saturday, as both players are one booking away from a one-match ban.

But Dickov denied that played a part in his thinking, possibly not wanting to give his side any easy excuses for such a disappointing defeat.

“I decided to change it,” Dickov said.

“Jason Jarrett has been chomping at the bit and young Carl (Winchester) has been fantastic.

“We had no doubts about Carl whatsoever. We know what he is like in training and what he is like in youth team and reserve team games.

“You look at him, he looks like a baby. But he has a man’s head and mentally he is very strong.

“I was delighted for him.

“He is playing right-back at the moment but eventually I see him playing in the middle of the park.”
