Lost 15% of our support to Citeh!

Recommended Posts

Sorry Simon,

Couldn't agree less, we've not lost support to City, we've lost support through having to endure :censored: football with Little Dave and the fact that many a good soul has given up the ghost!!

Nice advert for citeh, Simon. Good idea to push any 'floating fans' to Eastlands and their "World Class Players"!

I've heard it all now. Maybe he is making his excuses before the exit... 'Not my fault guv, nothing us TTA could have done'.

Is it me or have City and Manure always been there?

Its about what Oldham Athletic do and nobody else Simon

"...with Boundary Park and Eastlands only about five miles apart, we reckon our gates are about 10 to 15 per cent down since Man City really took off."

So with us moving about 2 miles apart, does that mean we're going to lose close to half our support to them?

Why? Are we supposed to be moving to Failsworth, i cant remember that ever being mentioned before.

their have been rumours.. but surely we wont be moving 3 miles closer to city's ground when we're already complaining '15%' of our support has left us to go watch city?

Simon?

1. 14 seasons in League One

2. How many false downs?

3. Constantly criticising the fan base publicly

4. Admission Prices have almost doubled under TTA

5. Ferney Field

6.Oldham Arena

7. Smoking Ban

8. Not signing a striker when Porter's head was turned - that cost us promotion and was the final straw for many

9. Dropping the Broadway Stand

10. Emotionally Blackmailed into marching for the Oldham Arena, then binned within months

11. Blaming everyone but themselves for their OWN failings

12. Getting rid of the top-scorer for the last 6 consecutive seasons

13. A procession of poor managerial appointments

14. Failsworth

15. Relationship with the Chron

16. The you scratch our backs and we'll scratch yours mentality prevailing within the club

17. Pisspoor marketing for much of TTA's tenure (it has got better rercently)

18. The state of BP

19. Doggy Gate

20. The financial climate

21. The plethora of Foot in mouth moments from the club's hierachy - like the one at the top of this thread

22. Loanee after loanee

23. Fans failing to identify with a conveyor belt team every year

I know Simon won't want to hear that, but to simply state we have lost 15% of our fanbase to City is over-simplyfying the club's own failings to retain its own fanbase. There's many factors, not all down to the club's own failings, but let's work with the loyal fans we have - the noises from the club recently have been encouraging so why undo your hard work with yet another silly throw away comment to a no mark tabloid journalist???

POSITIVES WE CAN BUILD ON!!!

1. Young Dynamic Management Team

2. Young, hungry players

3. Good football

4. Failsworth moving forward ever so slowly

5. Far more pro-activity in the marketing field

6. Tony Philliskirk's kids

7. More and more fans coming onside and getting right behind the team

8. The doom and gloom has subsided

9. After reaching as low as we could have we are now slowly recovering

10. Deadwood slowly but surely being cleared

11. Improving community links

12. A chance come the summer to make inroads into the deficit

Agree with most of that, apart from the managerial appointments.

Did they sign Talbot? not sure.. However, they appointed RM who saved us from relegation, then the next season had us on edge of the play-offs, was a good appointment apart from his own personal style of football, Shez always had us up and around play-offs during his almost 3 season reign, Royle- Well always says never go back, but we all knew he was just temp until end of season without investment, DP- can understand appointment, success at other clubs, good reviews from Donny + Darlington cant really blame TTA for appointing him, just a shame he didnt get sacked earlier, PD so far, good.

Another bit.. Tony Philliskirk's kids, does he have any more coming through the ranks? we could do with £££££k

Dickov and Taggart offering to pay their own wages as long as the players get paid? Is it really that bad?

Isn't it their willing to wait to recieve their pay? They'll still get it, but a bit late?

There's a few coming through Rob. Young full-back Winchester's already made the breakthrough and looks a good prospect if understandably very raw. Young Crompton the CF has already been in and around the squad and the two Carr's look decent players. Although the authorities on the Yoofs are Gary and Mike that go and watch the kids every week (Museum De Latique and Takmeanywhere)

As for the managerial appointments TTA gave Shez three months before appointing Talbot, then RM, Shez, Joe, DP before finally getting it right imo with PD. Personally Shez would have got the job immediately in 03/04 instead of Talbot, Moore etc.. he did very well and we were playing some really good football and Shez imo was more than ready.

I had intended the TP bit about his own kids, like Danny, but forgot to make it clearer :disappointed:

Apart from Talbot, TTA did rather well on their appointments, or definitely seemed like it at the time e.g. everyone was raving about DP at first.. so i think its a bit harsh to blame them for the managerial appointments.. they wasn't to know how :censored:e DP would turn out like everyone on here who was raving about him when he first came in etc..

Thing is about Penney is that like Talbot he talked a good game, and we fell for it the reality was somewhat different but like Talbot was used to plenty of money. The only guy who I think who was harshly treated was Moore and Shez certainly should have been given until the end of that season.

That sounds like a SUN "fact" to me...utter bollocks.

bit like Talksport's comments of how much we lost in unsold pies last year...

"We've managed to pay the wages for the past two months but it has been a struggle.

"We've had to put off other bills and a couple of us have had to dip into our own pockets.

We've got other creditors now, not just the owners. What bills are they putting off?

Another thread with fans burying their heads in the sand. We're in trouble, unless there is additional investment, new owners or an upturn in support bringing money into the club the club are doomed to die.

Instead of criticising Corney et al for being negative, basically stating the facts, listen to what he's saying and try and do something about it.

You're right...we should listen to Corneys two heads...

Head number 1 - We're losing fans to City hand over fist as they're right on our doorstep and only charge £5 more

Head number 2 - We must move away from the centre of Oldham to Failsworth, near Manchester to save the club

You seriously think we are losing fans to city ? Don't buy it for a second... Maybe a handful but 15% ?? Not a chance...

What has made us lose fans is the total failure to move the club on...

This...

The mentality and mix messages being operated within the club is scary...

Stick with us, save the club and we will move it close to the club we think is killing our support

I don't think that, I skipped that part of the article. I was more concerned that we are delaying/not paying certain bills and generally not earning enough money to keep the club running.

Same old story, nobody is doing anything to arrest that.

Maybe it justs we didnt have a game for 30 odd days so had no ticket money coming in to help pay?

Corney has shot himself in the foot here - lost 15% of support to a club we're moving closer to.. which he'll probably counter with the corporate facilities etc will self-sustain the club.. think they should hire a PR manager before saying stuff to the press sometimes..
