Wozzer Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 RIP. One of, if not the, greatest sports commentators of all time - and a great player too.
Stevie_J Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 A fantastic commentator. His tribute to Phil Hughes demonstrates beautifully how good he was. And he was pretty good with bat and ball in his day. RIP Richie.
BP1960 Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 (edited) I wrote to him way back with a cricket question, I was amazed he actually personally replied as though I was an old friend, one of sports great and nice guys. Edited April 11, 2015 by BP1960
opinions4u Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 The voice of childhood summers. A remarkable record as Australia's captain. And a man who, it seems, remained modest and likeable. Probably the reason I was drawn to watching cricket rather than just playing it on a Devon beach for two weeks a year. How the football commentators (and "expert" summarisers) could learn from his "say little but add value" approach to television.
dave_ragg1984 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 BBC did a tribute show to him on 5 live last week. They last 15 minutes was an interview he did with TMS on his last day commentating in England, which is just a brilliant listen. You can find it on iPlayer if you want to listen.
