lookers87
Only because the drummer has to stand and so everyone behind then has to stand all game. Noticed the drummers mates in front of us yesterday - hardly made a sound all game...anything to do with the 'no atmosphere against Southend and the drum will be brought back' argument?? Hope not! Chaddy atmosphere hasn't been good for years, in fact in the 20 odd years I've been going (despite the odd exception) the ground has never been one for masses of singing. All the drum has done is cause issues, let's just let it go. There are two real problems - 1 the way the ground is built - never will build an atmosphere with the open air and closed roofs of the current design and the lack of wit and thought that goes into our 'song list'. There are only about 3 tunes and every players name / team is made to fit one of these. Get some originality back and perhaps some of this boards members could group together to get things going in the different areas of the ground. If you want to rely on the current Chaddy 'choir' to get things going...it's not going to happen. You generally get the impression that unless the song involves either swearing or threatening an oppo player/team then it is not considered good enough to sing. For example, despite never having heard the 'Guns' tune before it was raised on here. That is a 'chune' the type that everyone could sing and bounce to so perhaps if all OWTB gave that a quick blast you would find an atmosphere starting to build. There's nothing wrong with the way BP is built in respect of the singers creating a great atmosphere. It's been proved many times that it can be done - if the crowd is willing. Teams used to dread coming to BP. If all the 1260 OWTB members sang it would create a great BP atmosphere, but in reality that's impossible. Many are unable to go to matches and of those who do go, they are spread throughout three sides of the ground. They are also likely to be representative of the BP crowd in that some will lead the singing, some are itching to sing if someone else will start it. Others used to sing but don't do nowadays. There are also those who refuse to sing and those who are quick to criticise the attempts of the singers (just like they do with the players). I have to admit that it's flogging a dead horse to keep banging on (drum or otherwise) about the lack of atmosphere. Perhaps one day the BP crowd will erupt spontaneously - maybe when we score the very late deflected winner off the crossbar and both posts to cause dirty leeds' first defeat of the season. Even then the singing will only last throughout stoppage time and be forgotten by the next home game.
leezyverpunk
Atmos weren't that bad but wouldn't have a problem with the return of the drum - to add even more noiz!

eyresagod
Im not goin to vote on this one cos i no it does create atmosphere but i do agree that the lad who plays it, who is a good friend, does over do it and needs to tone it down a bit but the atmosphere in the chaddy is aplalling anyway
oafc0000
Final Result : It should stay - creates atmosphere [ 30 ] [25.64%] It should go - killing the atmosphere [ 87 ] [74.36%] Seeing as I started the other one and this has been running for long enough here is the final result. Up to you lot what we do with the other poll and what this poll should mean going forward.....
