OldhamSheridan
fee agreed and will be highest paid player at the club, whats that then? £8k? spoke to him and parents last night. go on killer do it do it Whatever it is it won't be anywhere near £8k. I'd guess around £3k, with Donny offering around £4k.

Salary cap rules wouldnt allow us to offer 8k unless we got rid of Liddell and Gregan.......oh dear...did I just open a can of worms

leeslover
greegs, lidds, hughes on £6k arent they? Not a chance of it. Salaries always get vastly inflated in these discussions, £6k is big money in the Championship.
Yard Dog
greegs, lidds, hughes on £6k arent they? No, they're not on anything like 6k per week. Jeez...Try 3k for Greegs exc. bonuses. Pretty sure he's the highest earner - one of the reasons why Haining left, I believe.
RoytonBlueLad
Did he say which offer he is more likely to take? The one that offers the most £££. Short career and all that, don't want to end up being a chef in Scarborough do you
daznathe
3k seems too low to me salary cap is a joke anyways cos we can just pay the salary up to the cap then give the rest as a signing on fee. if you take people like lidds who must have been on 7kish at sheff utd then he must have more than halved his wages to come here? same with greegs at leeds? croslley at premier league fulham? hughes with offers all over the place? Latics and England
When we signed Hughes, the press reported him to be earning £80k a year, thus approx £1,500 per week. I would guess that based upon this, we won't have anyone on considerably more than this.

Gregan will have had a pay-off from Dirty Leeds, and both he and Liddell got longish contracts that give them the security towards the end of their careers. Wasn't Crossley ouit of contract? He was very much a backup player for Fulham anyway, having been loaned out last season.
Bring Back Ronnie Moore
I think Gregan is our top earner with Lids in second.....both of which I think are off at the end of the season. Not sure I like the idea of Kilkenny being our top earner.
daznathe
i see your points but still seems to low. i have no prob with killer as our top earner, he can be our ronaldo
Lags
QUOTE: Not sure I like the idea of Kilkenny being our top earner. why not? the lad without doubt is talented, too good for this level and given dedication would be good enough for the lower to mid Prem. He showed yesterday what a class act he is and easilly outshone Thompson or any other Leeds midfield player. I'd love the lad to stay and become the cornerstone to the side. He'd certainly become a Latics legend if he signed on for 3 seasons and we wouldn't lose money on the lad. Alas I think he's Donny bound. RoytonBlueLad
i see your points but still seems to low. 3k a week low? Check this from 2006. BBC report So your average League One player was on 67k a year. Bit of maths and it's about £1300 a week. Now some might be on less a few on considerably more but figures like 6k don't fit at all. RoytonBlueLad
£67,850 / 52 = £1304 average wage per week... I don't expect all players to be on it far from it but if the average wage is 67k per year (OK this 2006 but can't have changed too much) then to suggest we have players on over 300k pa is crazy talk! daznathe
if thats the average then lidds greegs will be on over 3k in my book, maybe not 6 then. so £4k or £5k a week for killer at least

The likes of Wolfy and Smallety will be on very little money compare to the rest. probably couple of hundred a week I would guess... That will pull are numbers right down....
