  1. If you play Sutton at right back, I'll boo ya. If you don't play Sutton at right back, I'll boo ya. In fact, you're gonna have to work very hard not to get booed David
  2. I don't disagree with that, I have real doubts about Unsworth's ability and have never been a fan of his. I would say he deserves a chance given the form in 2023, but if we're not at least top 6 come October questions have to be asked. Having said that this season is a clean slate and I'm going to back him to get it right.
  3. We'd better keep Big Joe away just in case I'm far too young to get this reference by the way
  4. We can come back and start again after Stokes declares with a 20 run lead
  5. Populist narrative It's a football forum, you aren't campaigning to leave the EU
  6. Some of the posters on here could've fooled me tonight. One of them has given up on promotion already because Unsworth might start Sutton at right back
  7. Haven't played a game then. There was a poster before complaining Unsworth hasn't got a formation which is apparently based on... a weeks training? The club is the most positive it's been for a while and some people are just absolutely desperate to find negatives. And I'm not even particularly a fan of Unsworth.
  8. I'm sure some people support Oldham just so they can have a whinge. It's June. They haven't even started pre-season yet. Jesus wept.
  9. Exactly. We haven't even started pre-season and there's 4 good players come in. We already had a decent squad together anyway so there's no need to rush into signings, and there's no transfer deadline. Why are some people so reactionary It's the best position we've been in pre-season for a long time
  10. Every signing at this level is a gamble. But they're players all coming into their peak years who have excelled at other clubs in this division. There's an actual strategy to the signings. I'd rather that than signing a bunch of 30+ past-it journeymen like we usually do
  11. Jack Byrne against Blackburn at home. Very slim pickings really. Hopefully we'll get a few this season
  12. I'm pretty sure we secretly sneaked in Kante from down the road for that game, he was immense!
  13. Lyden and Missilou/Sylla/Maouche maybe? I'm even reaching a bit there as Lyden barely played and the other 3 weren't exactly world beaters
  14. Midfield is key for me, it's been a weak spot at this club for so many years. Probably going back to our first season in League 2 the last time we had a proper functional midfield that could control a game and couldn't be cut through like butter (probably longer really).
  15. A flexible 5-3-2/3-5-2 would be my choice, especially if Rooney hangs around. But I'm not a coach and probably have no idea what I'm talking about
  16. Nah, I don't like this. There seems to be an actual plan, a strategy even, to the clubs transfer dealings and it's making me deeply unsettled. Right back and a couple of wingers next please
  17. It's a transfer strategy I can get on board with There actually being a transfer strategy at all is a novelty
  18. They're in the unusual position of actually having a spine/core group of players already at the club, so there's no scrambling around trying to buy an entire squad like most seasons. Hopefully this means they have more time to find quality over quantity...
  19. Norman Yarney Hogan Kitching Sheron Rooney Reid Nuttall All good enough for a promotion chasing team I reckon. A quality ball playing midfielder, a right back, a couple of wingers and probably another striker should be the priority to bring in. Could be an interesting summer
