The players around him are absolute shite. Nowhere in any of my posts have I denied that. At no point in any game has Rooney shown any of that quality either. Neither of these points are mutually exclusive

Can you imagine in any other job, knowing full well the tools you've been given to work with, being given two months to work with those tools (tools being the operative word) day in day out, bringing in your own tools as well, and changing absolutely none of the working patterns of the guy you replaced, and continuing to blame the tools? Can't think of too many other jobs where you'd be given much patience really. We're in trouble here btw. We're a decent amount into the season, we have an absolutely appalling squad, and we have a manager who seemingly has no idea how to arrest the decline and is relying on recruiting a completely new squad that frankly isn't going to happen. I'm sick of saying it now but that was as bad as I've ever seen an Oldham team play in 26 years going to games. It doesn't matter either way. I've seen us go unbeaten in pre-season then finish 17th. For most players with the exception of trialists it's about match fitness and avoiding injury. I'd rather they just played them all behind closed doors so we didn't get the overreactions every season.

Crazy that after all these years people still read into friendlies. They're about fitness, nothing more nothing less.

Yeah, it was frustrating how he just couldn't get his head around how to set up at home but we played some brilliant football at times under him. In away games especially if we went one or two down you still felt like we weren't out of the game. Don't get that feeling with Curle at all.
