  1. Yawn. Playing that exciting attacking football did us us the world of good didn't it. Where did we finish again, remind me please?
  2. Could Mellon have finished above 18th in League 2 with the squad Kewell had?
  3. There's absolutely no way of knowing that for certain, and they were League 2 squads. I don't understand your point at all. This is criticising the team for scoring from crosses all over again
  4. The failures stem from keeping Unsworth in charge for a large chunk of the season. Since Mellon came in, we're second in the form table. Sounds like a pretty decent side to me?
  5. Considering its 17 years since we last made the playoffs it's progress no matter how you want to frame it
  6. While I don't disagree with you, we're not exactly bursting at the seams with possible replacements are we unfortunately
  7. And if we don't win the playoffs, people will still see it as a progressive season and something to build on for next season. No "enormous backlash". As Metty says, pure hyperbole once again on this place
  8. MM inherited a squad used to playing pragmatic, defence first football. Implementing a different system, especially a possession based one, takes time and would probably have seen us losing more than we win, especially when we definitely didn't have the players to play that kind of football. So MM has taken a pragmatic approach, made us hard to beat and is getting consistent results (as pointed out above, Mellon's PPG would have seen us second if he'd been here since the start.) Of course we want to see entertaining football, but most people agreed when we were relegated that we needed to get out of this division at any cost. Mellon is giving us a decent chance of doing that.
  9. This alongside the criticism of the team scoring from crosses is why I love this place
  10. It's been boring and turgid for the last 30 years whilst also losing more than we win, so at least it's a start in the opposite direction Rome wasn't built in a day, especially if it had been caked in shit for the previous 3 decades
  11. I agree, it's not pretty to watch. But we haven't been pretty to watch for over 3 decades now, give or take patches in the odd season. At least we're actually consistently winning games for once
  12. 5 wins out of 7, 6th in the league, and people are whinging. Please lads, get a time machine back to 1989 because those days are long gone. We're in the 5th division, and this is what 5th division football looks like
  13. Scrappy win, just what you need at this stage of the season 5 league wins in 7 3 league home wins out of 4 Two strikers on the scoresheet Good tactical changes and subs from the manager Back in the top 7 Sure this place will be just as lively tonight as it has been the last fortnight
  14. Can't see where a goal is coming from and that bench doesn't exactly fill you with hope.
  15. Still don't. We'll make the playoffs comfortably. You lot can stay at home and cry over your pinch me years VHS's
  16. Fondop as a lone striker is an absolutely terrifying proposition. As if we're not struggling enough for goals already!
  17. The new players will gel, we'll go on another winning run and make the playoffs with ease, and this place will implode on itself
  18. Same, thought I was going mad. Never did himself justice here but in the games he did play well he looked a proper player. Not convinced he's League One standard mind you.
