  1. Who was forced into appointing Unsworth? The club could've appointed anyone, and they appointed him. They then saw sense and appointed a proper manager
  2. Just like we did with Unsworth, which went spectacularly If the choice is someone with 5 promotions on their CV, or a guy who's done alright at Altrincham, you'll forgive me for preferring the former
  3. In an ideal world I'd love to have someone in who had us both successful and playing attractive football, but beggars can't be choosers and Mellon was the perfect choice for the position we find ourselves in.
  4. It does feel like we have some fans who can't wait for us to lose. No fun if we're winning
  5. 3rd in the form table since he took over. Not sure who you have in mind who would be doing a better job?
  6. We'll finish 4th or 5th. The teams around us are just as inconsistent as us. This is a properly shit league
  7. Yeah he hasn't lived up to expectations has he, I can't really tell what kind of midfielder he's supposed to be. I'm hoping as Conon starts to bed in it helps to improve Lundstram's performances too (I missed Tuesday but believe he had a good game). He was anonymous today though. The constant diagonals didn't help though
  8. still think we'll comfortably make the playoffs but days are like this so irritating, after Tuesday we're looking up at the top 3 then brought back down to earth with a big bump. Probably naivety on our part, it is still Oldham Athletic after all...
  9. That was atrocious. We've brought Conlon in precisely to break down teams like this, and the ball flew over his head all game. Absolutely no imagination, just get the ball, look up, and hoof it to the wing. Rinse and repeat. Woking haven't done a smash and grab. They were just better than us. So fucking frustrating
  10. I prefer we stick to 5-3-2/3-5-2, gives the wing backs more licence to bomb forward and still gives us that extra man in midfield and two up front. Now we've got a proper midfield I think it'll be really effective
  11. He was great, could stroll around doing nowt for 89 minutes then pull a bit of brilliance out of nowhere, i love players like that. A bit like Zidane actually I'd never clocked that's what your profile photo was. Loved the soundtrack
  12. Remember us coming out with a bit of fight second half, getting a goal back early and then Jonathan Grounds (?) throwing the ball straight to their striker to make it 4-1 incredible that we came back from there Also can't believe it's a decade ago! Just watching it back and that made it 4-2. Also Gary Harkins would've only been 28 in that game!
  13. That's fair, but even if he comes in a squad player it's a step up from the likes of Tollitt
  14. We should never be turning down bringing in extra quality, could make all the difference this season and sets us up for next season (whichever division we're in) too. I'd be delighted with Kanu
  15. I reckon Conlon will be our most important signing in years. Goalscorers are incredibly important but a team is nothing without a competent midfield. Sounds like it clicked for him tonight already
  16. If he's a fast bowler he'll probably still get a call up to the test side
  17. It has felt like kids kicking off because they can't open their presents on Christmas Eve all day
  18. Can Dallas play out on the wing too or have I made that up?
  19. Can't understand anyone being underwhelmed with this, Dallas and Conlon are the kind of signings that get clubs promoted. Proper chuffed with this
  20. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2024/january/22012024-andrew-dallas-signs/
  21. Might just be some final i's to dot and t's to cross. I seem to remember Doyle being announced at about 8pm, for example. There's still time
  22. They just posted a teaser video of Rod Stewart in a rowing boat. Make of that what you will
